THE TREEHOUSE - A ROMANTIC RUSSIAN RIVER RETREAT

Guerneville Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Come relax and unwind in a tranquil cabin in the trees. Located just a mile from downtown Guerneville near the idyllic Russian River, this charming hillside cottage is perfect for a romantic retreat, an outdoor adventure, or working on that novel you've been meaning to write. You truly feel away from it all in this peaceful setting with stunning forest views. Simple vintage furnishings and a lack of distracting technological amenities allow you to enjoy the quiet curled up on the couch in front of a fire or lounging on the spacious, private deck with outdoor shower and tree swing. Take a short stroll to the neighborhood beach at Summer Crossing, or explore the many wineries, restaurants, hiking trails and antique shops in the surrounding area.

Built in the 1930s as a summer getaway, the cabin was beautifully crafted from local redwood trees with a number of delightful details that make it unique. The lower level has a cozy bedroom with a built-in full size bed. The bathroom has tiled floor and a redwood shower. Exit the lower level to go up the stairs to the upper level, which has a spacious open living, dining and kitchen area. The living area has a comfortable convertible bed in front of a wood stove. Sit on the stool at the bar while your loved one prepares a meal in the kitchen equipped with refrigerator, stove, oven and utensils. Enjoy your meal at the dining room table while looking out over the trees from the giant picture windows.

Kids and pets are welcome at your own risk as there are no child safe railings on the deck and no fenced-in area for dogs. The cabin is on a quarter-acre of wooded land on a hill. There are about 80 steps from the parking area to the cabin (see picture #14), so it is definitely not wheelchair accessible and may be difficult for the elderly or those with knee problems. The privacy on the hill is worth the trek!

Due to its lack of central heating and insulation, the Treehouse will not be available for rent in December and January. This is the first year we have extended our season to include November, February and March due to popular demand. We do this with the caveat that it may rain and could be very chilly, but if you want it, you got it.

We fell in love with this cabin the moment we saw it. It is absolutely charming and we feel removed from the stresses of the world while we are there, yet we can head out and be at any number of amazing restaurants in minutes. With the Russian River just a short walk away, the beautiful coast a mere 15 minute drive, and the amazing unpretentious plethora of wineries nearby, this location has all the best Sonoma County has to offer. We have traveled extensively, and we feel it is truly one of the best locations in the world.

We have intentionally kept our cabin as simple as possible. While we are there, we don't want the distractions of television or the internet. Other places may offer more amenities, but our peaceful place is perfect for reconnecting with nature and one another or just enjoying a good book in silence. Plus, there aren't too many places private enough that you can enjoy a shower in the outdoors under the redwoods.

THE TREEHOUSE

  • 5 of 5
This was our first visit to the Treehouse and we had a wonderful visit. We enjoyed our evening beverage out on the deck and watched the sun set. And enjoyed "getting in shape" walking up and down the stairs. The property was clean and well maintained and I've shared our adventure with my co-workers. Thank you so much for sharing your retreat.

BEST KEPT SECRET

  • 5 of 5
My partner and dog and I consider the tiny treehouse our vacation home. We have returned a few times and have the most delightful stays. Nested high up in the trees you'd not know the madness happening on the river on hot summer weekends. It seems they updated some details like dishes and linens- much appreciated. All around the loveliest little nook in the forest!

PEACE AND LOVELINESS

  • 5 of 5
A secluded, charming, and utterly peaceful retreat. My husband and I stayed here while exploring wine country. We looked forward to relaxed evenings by the fire with wine and dinner. Guerneville is an oddball, interesting town that is a wonderful antidote to wine country pretention. From this wonderful cabin you are a stone throw to floating down the russian river, a few miles to Armstrong Woods (hike, run, stroll), 15 miles to the sonoma coast, and 18 miles to Healdsburg (our starting point to bike the dry creek valley and around). We enjoyed relaxed mornings with french press coffee, enjoyed the views of redwoods outside our windows, fresh air and lounging on the adirondack chairs. And again, evenings with wine by the fire!! The cabin alone provided so much enjoyment! Cannot wait to return! Keep in mind with each step you tread to get to the cabin, puts more distance between you and the "real" world until you end up in this lovely, private, and peaceful escape.

2ND TIME AROUND, GETTING A TAD RUN DOWN.

  • 3 of 5
This was our second time staying. The good parts are still good, the bad parts are now things like blankets and furnishings are a bit dirty, stained, . these are things you put your body on ! Seems like the Cleaning personnel should rotate out materials that are in need of cleaning. Also can opener was so old it didnt function to open can goods. Time to replenish some items ? 99cent store even ! But the thing I discovered that bothered us the most ? Anyone could enter your sleeping quarters from the outside. I mean its a SIMPLE fix, why it hasnt been done, beats me. You think your safe because the outer door locks, however, there is a double shutter that opens in the hall. Once open , you find out that there is a clear, plastic garbage bag type material over a hole thats aprox. 3 ft x 4 ft. . This is accessible from under the porch, plenty of room for a person who has previously stayed there, to walk under without bending and climb right through, into to the hall that leads to the bedroom. Scary ! The bathroom towels are nicer than the last time. The bathroom show doors wont close all the way, there is about a 1.5 ft ( yes , feet ) gap , so water leaks onto the bathroom floor mat, making the mat no good to absorb water. I think that the person cleaning up the next day, should have noticed this and reported to be fixed.. Other than those issues, it was a good tome as before.

Owner's Response: I’m sorry you didn’t find the conditions at our cabin to the same standard as your previous stay. Rest assured, there is a thorough cleaning after every visit so all linens and furnishings are clean, and the shower door is being fixed. As for your safety concerns, we will ensure the shutters in the hallway are secured. We had never considered this a potential entrance as it only leads to a crawl space under the deck. We change the combination lock at the entrance gate frequently, so past guests should not be able to return. We take our guest’s satisfaction very seriously, so thank you for bringing our attention to these matters.

My husband and I stayed at the treehouse for 3 nights and we had an amazing time. Everything in this cottage was well thought out. It was a well rested vacation and we would definitely stay there again.
