Come relax and unwind in a tranquil cabin in the trees. Located just a mile from downtown Guerneville near the idyllic Russian River, this charming hillside cottage is perfect for a romantic retreat, an outdoor adventure, or working on that novel you've been meaning to write. You truly feel away from it all in this peaceful setting with stunning forest views. Simple vintage furnishings and a lack of distracting technological amenities allow you to enjoy the quiet curled up on the couch in front of a fire or lounging on the spacious, private deck with outdoor shower and tree swing. Take a short stroll to the neighborhood beach at Summer Crossing, or explore the many wineries, restaurants, hiking trails and antique shops in the surrounding area.
Built in the 1930s as a summer getaway, the cabin was beautifully crafted from local redwood trees with a number of delightful details that make it unique. The lower level has a cozy bedroom with a built-in full size bed. The bathroom has tiled floor and a redwood shower. Exit the lower level to go up the stairs to the upper level, which has a spacious open living, dining and kitchen area. The living area has a comfortable convertible bed in front of a wood stove. Sit on the stool at the bar while your loved one prepares a meal in the kitchen equipped with refrigerator, stove, oven and utensils. Enjoy your meal at the dining room table while looking out over the trees from the giant picture windows.
Kids and pets are welcome at your own risk as there are no child safe railings on the deck and no fenced-in area for dogs. The cabin is on a quarter-acre of wooded land on a hill. There are about 80 steps from the parking area to the cabin (see picture #14), so it is definitely not wheelchair accessible and may be difficult for the elderly or those with knee problems. The privacy on the hill is worth the trek!
Due to its lack of central heating and insulation, the Treehouse will not be available for rent in December and January. This is the first year we have extended our season to include November, February and March due to popular demand. We do this with the caveat that it may rain and could be very chilly, but if you want it, you got it.

We fell in love with this cabin the moment we saw it. It is absolutely charming and we feel removed from the stresses of the world while we are there, yet we can head out and be at any number of amazing restaurants in minutes. With the Russian River just a short walk away, the beautiful coast a mere 15 minute drive, and the amazing unpretentious plethora of wineries nearby, this location has all the best Sonoma County has to offer. We have traveled extensively, and we feel it is truly one of the best locations in the world.
We have intentionally kept our cabin as simple as possible. While we are there, we don't want the distractions of television or the internet. Other places may offer more amenities, but our peaceful place is perfect for reconnecting with nature and one another or just enjoying a good book in silence. Plus, there aren't too many places private enough that you can enjoy a shower in the outdoors under the redwoods.
My Wife, our dog and myself made our way up to Guerneville over the weekend and stayed in The Treehouse. We really needed a time away from our jobs and our lives. The Treehouse was perfect! Very minimalist in nature and so snug and inviting, we loved sitting on the deck for our morning breakfast and snuggling together in the cozy sleeping nook. There were only two small problems, otherwise the stay was perfect. First, not much natural sunlight gets through to the house. I know this isn't something correctable as the house sits way up the hill in the middle of big trees. It wasn't necessarily a problem for us but for anyone reading this review I thought the information may be pertinent. Also it would have been nice to have a microwave. Since it isn't our home we aren't privy to a full fridge and pantry of groceries, so we ate out for most meals except breakfast. Now we came hoping to try great food anyways, but the food we couldn't finish we brought back to the house. It was difficult to heat up our leftovers as we had to use the oven. A microwave would just make it a little quicker and easier. Overall our stay was great and we loved every minute of it!
I frequently rent from vrbo and barely review my stays but this rental was sooo great I had to review it. I stayed here with my boyfriend and dog for the weekend. It really feels like you are away from it all! I was so happy to find a dog friendly rental that has no evident sign of other dogs, it was extremely clean. I did have a hard time with the stove, but there is a bbq grill which I was happier to use anyway ;) there is lots of stairs so try to arrive before it is dark out. This cabin is great if you love the outdoors! it is cozy, romantic, and beautiful. I can not wait to visit again!
Now that I have stayed at the treehouse I can't really imagine staying anywhere else! I think that the only thing I would do differently is bring a knife sharpener :) I loved the captains bed.. super comfy! It was cold and rainy and the electric heater and extra blankets kept us warm and toasty. We decided to camp out in the living room the second night to be by the fire not thinking about the fact that the bathroom was downstairs. woops. our bad ;) Even the fold out couch was comfy. The kitchen had everything we needed. There were 2 coffee making options, a regular electric one and a french press. The french press was broken so if french press is your thing I suggest bringing your own. The electric coffee maker works just fine though.
Towels and linens were great.. everything about this place was great.
One of many things I love about this place is it feels very secluded yet you are super close to everything you need. Safeway, cafes, restaurants etc.
We also highly recommend Boon's!
We spent three nights in this cute little cabin for our 1st anniversary. Parking was great - one spot in front of the stairs. Yes there are a ton of stairs and it was slick after a rainy day, but we really just left once in the morning and came back at night, so it wasn't like we were up and down the stairs very much. I loved the captain's bed - we felt very snug.
There is no internet at the cabin (which is noted by the owner) and we got zero bars on Sprint network but full bars on the Verizon network. I don't get on my phone much on vacation other than to look for places to eat on Yelp. We loved Betty Spaghetti in a quirky little restaurant set inside a quirky motor lodge downtown Guerneville. Great garlic bread and pizza. Dick Blomster's is a highly reviewed Korean BBQ (I don't get the name!) that we felt was decent but not spectacular, even the KFC (Korean Fried Crack) was not nearly worth the hype.
Definitely try to fit in a hike through the Redwoods - you can access the national park just north of downtown.
I highly recommend this house!
Great small cabin perfect for a weekend getaway – specious enough for 2-4 people. There were two in our party plus my black lab who loved hanging out on the deck and surrounding woods. Bonus to have the river right down the street where he got to swim every morning during our morning walk. Description and pictures of the cabin are accurate, as well as the check in instructions. We arrived at night and having our flashlights helped tremendously – I would recommend to add to the check-in instructions that outside lighting is available which can be turned on from inside the cabin making it easier to go up and down those stairs if you are carrying stuff. The two car parking area would have been a tied fit for two large cars being so close to the road. We made breakfast each morning and brought home take out each night. Downtown is a 5 min drive with great restaurants and a Safeway which made it very convenient. The owners were great answering all my questions over email. Looking forward to returning soon.
This was our first visit to the Treehouse and we had a wonderful visit. We enjoyed our evening beverage out on the deck and watched the sun set. And enjoyed "getting in shape" walking up and down the stairs. The property was clean and well maintained and I've shared our adventure with my co-workers. Thank you so much for sharing your retreat.
