Combining contemporary architecture with log cabin construction, 143 Depree offers spaciousness and casual warmth in a location that is remote, yet close to numerous mountain activities. It is perfect for escaping the summer heat, catching the fall color displays or skiing the nearby slopes. And it's always kept immaculate.

Zaloo's Canoes (tubing on the New River) is less than a mile away. Hiking in the New River State Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway is just minutes away. Or, take a walk after dinner in the Christmas Tree farm next door and enjoy the spectacular sunset views. Church of the Frescos is only two miles away. Art galleries in West Jefferson are a short drive as well.

There are countless outdoor activities to pursue. But you might want to just stay inside, light a fire, read a book or play a great game of Scrabble. Or, relax on the wrap-around deck and enjoy listening to the birds and the stillness of the mountains.

All towels and linens are provided, as is wireless high-speed Internet. Sleeps six in beds + two on Aerobed. Enjoy your stay!

Why The Owner chose Jefferson

We purchased 143 Depree Circle as the perfect retreat for our family, friends and clients. With work schedules being what they are, we are just not able to go up as often as we'd like. Our loss is your gain! This home was built in 2006, and features many modern amenities, plus a peaceful location that's convenient to everything you go to mountains for--hiking, skiing, rafting, leaf viewing and just escaping the summer heat.

Our second visit to this beautiful home! Wonderful amenities and a superb location for planning day visits to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt. Jefferson, the New River State park (Wagoner & US221 entrances), Stone mountain State Park, and the great Byways Drive in N.Ashe county! Great kitchen and very comfortable living and bed rooms!! This is a great birding area with Red eyed vireo, Tit mice, Indigo bunting, Gold finch, Olive sided flycatcher, Peewee, Phoebe, Turkey buzzards, and wild turkeys! Some nice dining in West Jefferson, but ease and convenience of eating in is a real pleasure! Very quiet and relaxing on deck with ever changing views of the pasture, Christmas tree farms, and the mountains. Easy to see wildlife of deer, ground hogs, chipmunks, rabbits, and the grey squirrels!

Wonderful Getaway!

The owners are wonderful to work with. The house is great. Just as their VRBO heading says it truly is a "peaceful retreat". We had two families staying for the weekend and had a great visit. The house is very well stocked, very clean and very inviting. We drove down the hill to Zaloo's Canoes and tubed down the New River. What a fun outing! We attended the July 4th Christmas in July Festival in West Jefferson and ate out only once. The kitchen is awesome and has everything you need! We cooked and ate most of our meals right there. The house is just out far enough, but close enough in to where the trip to town is no big deal. We would recommend this "Peaceful Blue Ridge Mountain Retreat" very highly.

Jim--We just got home late last night and I wanted to thank you so much for having us in your home this past week. We had an amazing time......the snow was perfect and my kids spent a lot of time playing in the yard making snowmen and going sledding down the driveways. We spent a lot of time in the amazing kitchen and gathered around the majestic fireplace. Many, many happy memories were made this past week.

We got home Monday afternoon and the vacation was over... Your mountain home was simply lovely!! David and I are interested in booking it again for next summer. We went tubing at Zaloo’s on the 4th and the weather was perfect for it. The family reunion went well and fun was had by all.

Your mountain cabin is absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed our stay so much. Everything we needed was right there and the weather couldn't have been any better! Your gourmet kitchen is a dream to cook in and we did just that both nights. We grilled out and ate on the deck and enjoyed the mountain air. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

Thanks again for allowing us to stay there. You have a gorgeous retreat! We would love to go back some time!
