The perfect Sonoma getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My 2 sisters and I took our mom to her hometown of Sonoma for her 80th birthday. The location was perfect, coincidentally 2 blocks from her childhood home. It's close to town, but feels quiet and idyllic with plenty of open space and views. There were daffodils blooming and a vineyard right in front of our deck! The deck is great for reading in the early morning and late afternoon sun, with really cute, comfy chairs. The house was charming, airy, and open. Such a warm, inviting feel when you walk in! There were nice little touches, like wine and cheese in and milk for our coffee. We could have stayed only at the cottage the whole weekend and had a marvelous time experiencing Sonoma.

Beautiful rose-covered cottage in Sonoma

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for our honeymoon in September. Summerhouse is the perfect retreat for a relaxing and romantic wine country vacation. The owners are a lovely couple who have dedicated a lot of time into making this place into a true storybook cottage. The garden surrounding the cottage is filled with roses and lavender and there are vineyards just beyond the garden's perimeter. Upon arriving to Summerhouse, we found wine, cheese, and other tasty snacks waiting for us in the kitchen as well as a booklet of recommended places to eat and visit in the area. The cottage sits at the end of a quiet street with lots of opportunities to walk to wineries and a small gourmet store and it is only a couple minutes drive into Sonoma square. We had a wonderful time staying here and will be returning to this hidden gem in the future!

Lavender and Roses

  • 5 of 5

Our brief, 3-day, visit to Sonoma was all the more wonderful with our stay at the Summer Cottage. I highly recommend staying here.

Why?

The wrap-around porch, surrounded by fragrant lavender and roses and beauty from every angle provided a restful reprieve after hiking and wine tasting, or just wanting to hang out with the family.

The layout of this compact cottage is perfect! The sitting area faces the porch area. The alcove behind the sitting area really does provide a secluded resting location in the trundle bed for one or two (my 20-something son and daughter shared this space with plenty of private sleeping area for each - the beds were super comfortable, as described by them)

The kitchenette space was perfect, along with the thoughtful goodies left by owner/manager (wine, cheese, salami, crackers, salsas and chips! And Peet's coffee - All delicious! - thank you!)

The bedroom, while small, had everything you needed and the design of this cottage, with high ceilings, and plenty of windows, provides the feel of spaciousness.

All of us loved this place and would definitely stay here again...if only we lived on the west coast, this would be more of a reality for us.

In addition to all these pluses for the cottage itself, the location was another big positive. It is about a mile and half (maybe 2) from the center of town (Sonoma). You have plenty of quiet, yet you are a short walk or ride to town. If you like to walk or run, it is a great location for all of the various routes available.

We all loved Sonoma (the town) and after a day trip to Napa, would highly recommend Sonoma over Napa.

Great Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had such an amazing time at the Summer House! The location is perfect and the setting is absolutely gorgeous. We enjoyed the wraparound porch all weekend. The views of the vineyards are just so peaceful and serene. I will absolutely be coming back here. Hoping to make it an annual trip!

Cozy, quiet and charming!

  • 5 of 5

The Sonoma Summer House was everything we expected and more. Our group of 4 women on a wine getaway loved sitting on the porch having coffee, tea and wine...depending on the time of day. We arrived late and were pleasantly surprised with wine and cheese in the refrigerator. Just what we needed after a long day of travel. The vineyard and roses surrounding the house were spectacular. Would stay there again in a heartbeat. Everything was so comfortable.
