Guestbook comments from the owner

We have just returned from a marvelous week in Brugge. Your home was so nicely located, very cozy, and with a well stocked kitchen, all of which made the trip indeed memorable. Your agent Mr Grande was very helpful. Your house book was full of all the information needed, and contributed to a very expansive sightseeing experience.

You can be assured of our return visit one day and that we will recommend your home to friends contemplating a trip to Brugge.

A Wonderful Place to Stay!

  • 5 of 5
We had a group of 6 including a child (6-years old) at this home and had a wonderful time! The listing of the home was completely accurate and we found things just as expected. The home was exceptionally clean and well maintained, and was obviously decorated with care. Marie-Christine greeted us and was amazingly helpful in getting us oriented to the property, and making suggestions about activities that might interest us in Bruges. It was an easy (and charming!) walk to the center of town. We'd absolutely recommend this home to people heading to Bruges.

Best of Brugge

  • 5 of 5
We spent a wonderful week at this beautiful and comfortable house. It was very well maintained and so tastefully decorated, just perfect. Marie-Christine met us on arrival and showed us through this delightful house, and gave us much useful information about Brugge. The location was excellent, within easy walking distance to all the attractions and shops for supplies. We enjoyed the waffles, beer and restaurants, including Tom's Diner across the road, and of course the chocolates. A nice touch was the little bowl of chocolates in the lounge room. We had a great time and if we were to return to Brugge we would love to stay here again.

Absolutely beautiful property!

  • 5 of 5
I have stayed at many vacation rental properties and De Hoedenmaker is at the top of list! The property was delightful and well located. Marie-Christine met us at the property and gave us a very thorough orientation of the property along with many recommendations for sights and restaurants to visit during our stay. Everything was in easy walking distance from the property. The home was quite comfortable and in meticulous condition. Bruges is a lovely town and we had plenty to keep us busy - we explored the city, went on a canal cruise, rented bikes and rode along a canal to Holland, watched a world Cup game on a large screen in the town square - we will definitely be back! Thank you to the Micholt's for being such fabulous hosts!

Fantastic stay in a charming house!!!!!!!

  • 5 of 5
Without hesitation, I would recommend De Hoedenmaker to anyone looking to have a wonderful stay in a quiet neighborhood in Bruges. The description in the listing is completely accurate, as are the many positive reviews. Francis & Marie-Christine are wonderful hosts, and strive to give every guest a wonderful stay. They are careful to make sure all details are perfect -- even having coffee, Belgian chocolate and Belgian beer waiting for you upon arrival. They clearly want each guest enjoy their time in Bruges, and we are very thankful for the hospitality they showed to us. The house itself is wonderful, and perfect for families. It is a very short walk to the bustling Markt area, but far enough away to be a respite from the crowds Our family hopes to return to Bruges someday, and when we do, De Hoedenmaker will be our #1 choice.

A beautiful Flemish home in perfect part of Brugge

  • 5 of 5
Can't recommend this little Flemish home enough. We arrived a day early and our hosts very graciously let us in a day early. We stayed here with our two kids and there was plenty of space plus beautiful family touches like board games, toys and movies. The hosts provide a really handy guide to Brugge which pointed us towards a few restaurant gems and cultural sites. We would definitely stay here again. Enough room for two couples.

Personal welcome & lovingly cared for cozy house.

Personal welcome & lovingly cared for cozy house.

The listing was accurate and the photos reflected the house well. The property was exceptionally well cared for and maintained. The kitchen was well equipped and well kept. The owners themselves greated us and showed us how everything worked. They clearly care for the house. The best "welcome book" ever! Photos, instructions, tourist ideas, restaurants....everything in the book to make you feel at home. Tom's Diner is highly recommeded but was closed for vacations...so sad. But Tom's is recommeded by Rick Steves' Travel Guide and he gave us great bus instructions to get to this location from train station. We lunched at Jan Van Eyck Restaurant & Tea room which was nice, caual, friendly and affordable with good omlettes. Dinner at Herberg Vlissingle on Blenkerstraat 2 - very old pub, very casual and good food.
