This amazing garden-oceanview, 1200 square foot, ground floor, two-bedroom, two-bath condo is on what many consider 'the finest family beach on Kauai'. E109 in E Building. Just steps from the pool and beach, this condominium provides the best location for island fun. LARGER GROUP?? RENT ALL 3!!!

No stairs to climb, just exit the lanai to the beach or stroll thru the beautifully manicure gardens to the pool, tennis courts, croquet court, barbecue/picnic areas, volleyball,fitness facility, and shuffle board. Take a short walk through historic Kapaa town for great island shopping, food, and recreation.

This condo comfortably sleeps six people. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, private bathroom, plus a flat screen TV & DVD. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed and the living room has two full size (double)futons plus a flat screen TV, DVD & stereo system. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, pans, dishwasher, coffee maker, and microwave with a comfortable dining room. The owner has recently upgraded the Condo with NEW CABINETS and counter tops.

THIS CONDO HAS ITS OWN WASHER/DRYER!!! Ground-floor lanai makes easy coming and going and the entertainment center provides cable TV, DVD and a stereo. Basic internet access in the condo is free for emails. For more robust internet usage (large files) you can upgrade the free service on a daily or weekly rate. (Building E)

About The Owner

We have seven children and 15 grandchildren. Farrah and Rachel (our daughters) manage the rentals for us and will do everything possible to make your Kauai visit a wonderful experience.

We love Kauai and especially Kapaa and Pono Kai. Our kids love to come vacation here year after year. We always find something new on the island. There are truly 101 things to do!!! We have purchased and furnished THREE beautiful condos for rental and personal use.

What makes this condo unique

The ocean and beach are just steps away. The grounds are meticulously manicured. The 5 mile biking/walking path goes in front of our condo and up and down the island for awesome morning and evening rides/walks. The condo is centrally located on the island (Kapaa) so driving time is minimized. Great restaurants and activities abound all over and we can mingle with the locals and not feel stampeded by tourists. Perfect Hawaiian experience.

Bryan-I don't even know how to begin to tell you what a wonderful time we had in Hawaii I don't think I told you before, but the purpose of the trip was to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Your condo is so wonderful and we all agreed that Kauai was the favorite island of the two. We covered most all of the island, and were treated to some very special activities and sites. The cousin of our friend lives in Waimea, and she spent a day showing us things the average tourist would never have seen. We also took the helicopter tour and that was a highlight! We sure found it to be very comfortable and perfectly located. I could go on, but I really just wanted to thank you for allowing us to make Kauai such a memorable trip for us. beware of which one you are renting!

We stayed in the garden view condo (one of the three of this owner's in the resort) and it was in appalling condition.

The carpets were stained and dirty, the couches and chairs were worn out, lumpy and very dirty. The windows were rusty and could barely be opened. The sliding glass door and screen could barely be opened and were a pain every time to get in and out of the condo. The fridge was rusty on the outside and froze food on the inside. The oven was rusty on the inside, the broil element hung down, the temperature gauge was in the drawer and had to be stuck on to get a temperature setting. The glasses, dishes and cutlery were all old, cloudy and mismatched. The sheets and blankets were old and suspect, the pillows were flat. The beds were old, saggy and lumpy. Using the dryer seemed to bring all the wet air into the condo instead of outside the condo. There was no air conditioning and while the fans were good they would not be able to keep up if there was temperatures above 25 degrees (celsius). The TV was old. There were chickens everywhere and the roosters crowed constantly (bring earplugs unless you like getting up at 4:45am). They needed to be culled.

The location was fine, the amenities were good (pool, tennis courts etc.), there was a nice beach and great walking path only minutes away. The location was central to the whole island although there were times in the day we could not leave the resort because of traffic gridlock on the street in front of the resort. There was free wifi of sorts, it would lock you out if you tried to download anything and you would have to sign in every time you wanted to use it.

This condo had a great layout and size but was 10 years past being outdated and needs to be completely renovated.

Owner's Response: We have taken note of the issues mentioned here. Smiths are right about the carpet. We were aware the carpets were stained by a guest that proceeded them in the condo and placed throw rugs over the stains. We had to wait until we could coordinate the replacement of the carpet with our bookings and the carpet supplier's schedule and new carpet has been installed. We have inspected the condo and have replaced the range because the knobs were broken etc It is unfortunate that we are just now (Feb.) hearing about these additiional issues from December as we take pride in addressing the issues with guests immediately while they are staying with us. The sliding door was off its track and was adjusted. Any metal in condos close to the ocean does rust, so it is not unusual to find it and we do constant maintenance. We have enjoyed great reviews earlier in the year. (See below) And, although we are saddened to have received this review, we take it seriously and are attending to each criticism. Unfortunately, we can't do anything about the wildlife on the Island. Chickens and Roosters are a part of the Kauai experience. The history as to why there are so many is fascinating. Google it.

Winter getaway

This property is in a great location. It is close to downtown Kapaa with shops and restaurants. The beach is right there with a long walking/biking trail which goes both north and south. You are a few minutes from the tourist sights on the north side of Kauai and an easy drive south to Poipu and beyond.

Wonderful home away from home!

We stayed in this Pono Kai Condo in Nov. 2011. We had a wonderful vacation! The condo unit was so neat and clean; everything that we needed was readily available. We were not fully aware that this condo was part of a much larger complex until arriving; it was wonderful to have access to so many different activities - Bocceball, croquet, beautiful grounds, feeding the fish (the children loved it!), pool, hot tub, and ocean beachfront. The condo location is such that we made day trips to sites and beaches all over the beautiful island of Kauai. Thanks to Farrah; your place was beautiful and your help was great! We would definitely come again. We'll never forget the crowing roosters to awaken us in the morning!

Pono Kai Visit

We stayed at this condo in May of 2011. The location is just about perfect. The bike trail that runs 4 miles along the beach was right out in front of the condo. This particular unit was set back a little farther then some of the other units and it offered a little more privacy then those closer to the bike path. There is a little bike rental place right across the street from Pono Kai and we took advantage of that. Also there was a bar/grill named Scotty's up the bike trail maybe a 1/4 of a mile (maybe less) that served breakfast/lunch and happy hour. Great drinks and fairly good food. The condo had everything we needed and the king size bed in the master suite was wonderful. We had ocean breezes all day and night, so the lack of air conditioning was not an issue. We enjoyed having the doors and windows open as often as we could.

The grounds were beautiful and the pool and hot tub were well maintained. The grill was right outside our unit, so we took advantage of that quite often. The sunrise was at 5:00 or so and we were up with the sun and down with it too. Even though it rained everyday while we were there (very unusual weather for May) the warmth made up for the rain. And being from Alaska, never kept us from doing most of the fun things on our list. Otherwise, I think it may have been too hot for us to be motivated.

The location of the condo made shopping for food and drink very easy and convenient and we would definately stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Kauai. The ocean was right outside our condo and we took advantage of the nice private beach and swimming area. This condo is on the second floor and the stairs are right outside the door, plus there was an elevator down the hall that we never used. We had great visit, although we may have been a bit noisy for the people below us, but that's the disadvantage of being on the ground floor. You may be able to walk out of your unit, but you might have noisy people upstairs.
