Located on a rustic island in the heart of Puget Sound where tides move in and out at your door while you lay in the hammock viewing Mount Rainier, bald eagles, heron, seals, otters and occasionally an Orca whale, is the Beach Retreat. Located in one of the best fishing and scuba diving spots in the sound, a great getaway from the bustle of the city, yet just a ferry ride from the stimulation of Seattle. The island has its own character with a lively arts community including several galleries, live theater, music and dance... an old time movie house... a skate park and climbing gym for the kids... Because of the rural nature of the island, it is a wonderful place to bike, horseback ride, bird watch or kayak! Accessed through our private garden (featured in the Vashon Garden Tour 2001 and again June 21 & 22, 2008), the STEEP 120 STAIR ACCESS is not for the faint of heart. The cottage is decoratively furnished and accented with vintage stained-glass windows.

  • Cleaning fee of $75 and sales tax of 8.5%. Deposit of one night's fee or 25% (whichever is greater) is due on booking, with remainder due 30 days prior to arrival. The deposit fee will be charged if reservation is canceled. Additionally if cancellation is made less than 30 days prior to arrival, no refund will be given unless we are able to book the space. Pets considered with additional $50 cleaning fee plus $200 fully refundable damage deposit.
  • LAST MINUTE SPECIAL: Book within 3 days of arrival for a minimum of 3 nights-$175/night for up to 4 pp, plus $15/person/night for over 4, cleaning fee and 8.5% sales tax...

Accessed down a STEEP STAIRWAY (120 STEPS), this two-story home has a large open kitchen/living/dining area with hardwood floors/oriental rugs on the first floor...3 bedrooms and a sitting room on the 2nd floor. Full bath on first floor; 1/2 bath and separate shower room on second floor.

Amenities: Dishwasher/Microwave/Cable TV/VCR/Stereo w/CD Player/Fireplace/Gas BBQ/Washer & Dryer/Towels & Linens.

Activities: Vashon is a wonderful island for bicycling, beach walking, hiking, horseback riding,...there is also a place to rent kayaks and a protected beach where it is possible to swim if you are hardy...Puget Sound is cold and the beach retreat is on the open part of Puget Sound so it is beautiful, but not for swimming...though great for fishing and crabbing.
