Property was very clean and location was excellent to access all the different activities on the island. Town was a short walk away and there weere a variety of good interesting restaurants within easy walking distance. The unit was private and lived up to its billing from the VRBO description. The only down side of the unit was the owner's apparent indifference to our concerns about the TV not working. This usually would not have been an issue except the Olympics were on and it would have been nice to be able to get updates in the evenings. He offered to recompense us for the deficiency but did nothing. Otherwise a very nice unit that lived up to its billing but I would be concerned about the owner's response should something more serious than the TV cable malfunction happen.
Owner's Response: The guest's claim of "indifference" is misleading and unfair. He is aware that I visited the unit to troubleshoot the cable connection. Time Warner Cable on Maui does not perform next day repairs. The guest was away when I visited both times. He would not use his cell phone, so I could not update him immediately. At the time, I was not available to make nightly special visits to the unit to try to update him on the cable. Additionally, experience has taught me that guests do not want to be disturbed at night. The guest did have a working WIFI connection and Ipad. In my judgment, it was not an emergency.
It is one of the best value units on the north shore of Maui. However, it does not come with Four Seasons level hand holding. I made best efforts to restore the cable connection, but was unsuccessful before his departure date.
The guests other observations are fair and accurate. Potential guests should be aware that this is not a luxury home. This is a clean, pleasant place to stay in the heart of Paia. It does NOT come with a concierge or on call maintenance team. Other guests have been satisfied with my level of responsibility and care.
