Amazing Rental

I just rented this home for an April midweek. We were a group of 8 old college friends getting together for a wine adventure. I can't say enough about the nice amenities...great kitchen, lots of accessories, gorgeous main fireplace, so many skylights, and the big river view deck is amazing with a knockout setting-- we spent several hours relaxing each morning just chatting and birdwatching. Dining under the 200 ft. Giant Redwood was a special treat. I also recommend Sonoma Canopy Tours (Zipline) near Occidental-- what a gas flying 300 feet in the air thru giant redwoods...scary at first but what great fun!! I left re-charged and ready to go back to the work-a-day world again! Now I'm planning a longer stay with my Bay Area pals in November. Thanks for a lovely stay and for making the booking process so easy. Your suggestions for eats and things to do worked out great!

Breaks our hearts to leave the place after all the work but hearing praise like yours makes it more than worth it!


Some updates: The dock, stairs, & 4 double kayaks were put in the water last week w/ lots of solar lights for evening use.


We've just added an outdoor redwood Bar w/ padded swiveling barstools at the riverfront edge of the large deck to sip your favorite beverage, socialize, soak in the sun-- or stars-- & take in all the riverfront bird/ nature scene. The flowers are going gangbusters in the spring sunshine!...


31 choices to sit just on the deck (9 in the deep seating outdoor living room which now has a large umbrella, 18 in the Amish/Shaker cedar & cypress furniture). Plus a Wine Chiller by the indoor Bar.


The Big Mouth pillow toss game is on the deck and will soon be in the yard. We also just installed a high-end Insta Hot for the kitchen sink.


Yes Sonoma Canopy zip line is a fun ride! I've heard other guests say that too. I also recommend hot air ballooning over the Sonoma landscape, well worth getting up early for the dawn flight!


Limousine tours for wine tasting are a great way for all to enjoy our wineries in a custom-planned route thru delightful scenery! Or if you want to save money, kayaking up and down the river right from our riverfront with the included 4 double kayaks is a great way to experience the river and see scenery you'd miss otherwise.


BTW for our week-long renters we include some combination of these welcome gifts... from Sophie's Cellars just up the street: local champagne and cheese, Martinelli's: local sparkling cider, Andy's Fresh Produce (largest outdoor produce in no. Ca.): fresh local fruit, & from local artisans: specialty soaps & chocolates! We're working on arranging discounts with local merchants including Hot Air Ballooning, Winery & Scenic Limo Tours, Golf, Zip Line, etc.


Our weekly rates are a great way for guests to experience the most well-deserved indulgences at the lowest price!

Nice holiday stay

This was a lovely place to stay for our family. The house was nice, clean, and warm for our arrival. Very well furnished and everything in working order, just as described. Terrific riverfront views. The place has lots of amenities you don't find elsewhere...kitchen is loaded with everything we needed for cooking, 3 nice TVs, lots of bathrooms, skylights, fireplaces, indoor and outdoor bars, fountains, etc. The location is great, there's a handy corner market within a short walk. Very scenic area. We got to see some otters swim in the river and we saw many birds. A very relaxing and pleasant vacation. Very responsive owner provided great service. We recommend to anyone wanting a beautiful and comfy place to vacation. Would like to return in the spring and see the flowers, there are tons of plants in hanging baskets and in the yard. Loved exploring and shopping in Occidental and Duncans Mills. Garden Grill in Guerneville had great organic hamburgers. All in all a 5 star holiday!

Succesful Company Retreat

Our group of 6 had a wonderful company retreat/escape on a midweek in October.


The outdoor space worked very nicely for conversations and sharing meals and it allowed for a very successful "bonding" time.


The new LED TV in the living room was great for presentations. Only problem was keeping folks from having too good a time. Had to ring the bell to corral everyone in for some of our discussion groups!


Kitchen was very well equipped and fit the bill nicely for us.


The on-site activities (kayaking to the island and exploring, ping pong, lawn games, etc.) kept everyone well entertained at break times. Two of us snuck off for 9 holes at Northwood early one morning, just a 5 minute drive-- a gorgeous course in the redwoods. And one afternoon another two played a few rounds of tennis up the street while the rest of us went bicycling to Duncan's Mills and checked out the fun crafts and antiques.


We BBQed one evening and ate at River's End in Jenner another evening-- a nice sunset visit to the ocean.


We played cards, laughed and told stories later on the deck and greatly enjoyed soaking in the spa before retiring. Six beds meant each of us had their our own bed.


We're planning on making it an annual event, and I'm recommending it to friends.

Next time stay longer if you can and you could do some more exploring of the area and take some day trips.


There are a lot more antique stores in Sebastopol if you want to see more next time.


There is a great golf course at Bodega Bay called New Links At Bodega Harbour that you should try...good value, spectacular coastal views from most holes, very challenging due to hills and deep bunkers, and a great bar and clubhouse for lunch.


As you mentioned you can get to the island off the back yard dock by kayak; you can also just walk/wade over with water footwear/old tennies as it is only about 2 feet deep. The island has beaches at each end and deeper water on it's far side.


There's a big free public sandy beach just 1/4 mile up river you can paddle to or walk.


The free public tennis courts (2) and outdoor basketball court a short walk up the street are very convenient for fun exercise.


The area around the house is great for bicycling as you can choose mostly flat routes if you like and bike west to the ocean or east to Korbel, Armstrong Redwoods State Park, and Westside Rd. wineries.


There is an off by itself, dedicated bike path from Forestville to Santa Rosa that takes you thru vineyards and Laguna de Santa Rosa.


Just some notes on the house...


We added sliding screen doors for the double doors on the deck and a screen on one of the master suite's skylights for added ventilation when you want it.


As you mentioned, there's new outdoor table tennis (ping pong) set up under the deck.


So you'll have to stay longer next time to work all those other activities in!


You should also consider #149809 our Beautiful Palm Springs Private Pool House in the Southern California Desert.

FAMILY FUN, PERFECT VACATION SPOT

A FUN AND RELAXING WEEK WAS HAD BY ALL OUR FAMILY. COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A MORE LOVELY SETTING. PROPERTY IS JUST AS DESCRIBED. HOME IS VERY CLEAN AND WELL APPOINTED. WE WERE NOT WANTING FOR ANYTHING. IN FACT THE OWNER HAS THOUGHT OF SO MANY EXTRA THINGS YOU USUALLY HAVE TO BRING LIKE FLASHLIGHTS, EXTRA TOWELS, SHAMPOO, GAMES, DISH SOAP, LAUNDRY DETERGENT, ETC., PLENTY OF TOWELS, DISH TOWELS, COOKWARE, TABLE SERVICE, ALL IN NICE CONDITION. REALLY LIKED THE INSTANT HOT WATER IN THE KITCHEN, VERY HANDY.


HAVING SO MANY BATHROOMS MADE GETTING READY IN THE MORNING QUICK.


REALLY ENJOYED THE KAYAKING AND NATURE WATCHING. WE PADDLED DOWN TO THE OCEAN AND THE AFTERNOON SEA BREEZE MADE THE RETURN UP RIVER VERY EASY. SPENT SEVERAL AFTERNOONS BEING LAZY ON THE RIVER. THAT DECK IS WONDERFUL WITH ALL THE FLOWERS AND SO MANY SEATING AREAS. MY FAVORITE PLACE WAS THE OUTDOOR BAR LOOKING OUT OVER THE RIVER-- GREAT PLACE FOR A BEER, OR FOR BREAKFAST, OR SIPPING LEMONADADE, AND AT NIGHT WATCHING THE STARS AND GATHERING AT HOT TUB.


WE HAD A GREAT TIME TOURING MANY INTERESTING NEARBY TOWNS-- LOTS OF WONDERFUL CRAFTS AND ANTIQUES, ESPECIALLY DUNCANS MILLS AND OCCIDENTAL.


WE PLAN ON COMING BACK AND EXPLORING THE COAST MORE NEXT TIME. WAS REALLY SURPRISED HOW UNCROWDED THE BEACHES WERE. WILL RECOMMEND TO ALL OUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES.

Some other good towns for antiquing for your next visit are Sebastopol, Graton, Railroad Square in Santa Rosa, and Sonoma.


There are many beaches to choose from, starting with the gravel beaches on the island in the river right off the yard (just bring river footwear or old tennies if you want to wade over, or just paddle over), the public sandy river beach 1/4 mile away, and the many Sonoma Coast state beaches off Highway One: Goat Rock Beach, Wright's Beach, Salmon Creek, etc.


We have finished "kid proofing" the decks and stairs, and the top of the stairs has a gate, in case you want to bring little ones next time.

Great Place to Stay, Much to See and Do

This was a great place to stay for a week. Beautiful setting and beautiful, clean home, just as advertised. Lots of great help from the owner on what to see and do close by.

Everything at the house was in working order. Deck is unbeatable, started the day every day there with coffee and birdwatching at the riverfront overlook bar, and ended the day there with BBQ-ing, lounging, and soaking in the spa.

We loved paddling the river and exploring the island. Having tennis and basketball courts 1/4 mile up the street was convenient for folks to get some exercise whenever they wanted. We walked to the Village Inn several times for fine dining and a friendly well stocked bar.

We worked in many day trips, all easy, fun and very scenic. Most were under 30 min. drive. One day to Wrights Beach and north to Ft. Ross and Mendocino, another to Armstrong Giant Redwoods, Westside Rd. Wineries, and Alexander Valley wineries, another to Napa Valley Wineries, and lastly Occidental and Bodega Bay.

We're so glad you enjoyed the home and area so much.

You certainly got in a lot of touring-- just goes to show once more how much can be experienced in a short time in our area!

There is also a large public beach just a 10 minute walk or paddle from the house.

And this area is very popular with bicyclists and hikers.

So you can do a lot without a car for a few days.

There are a lot of good restaurants within 10- 20 minutes drive: Cape Fear Restaurant in Duncans Mills, Union Hotel Italian Restaurant in Occidental, Applewood in Guerneville, the Farmhouse (Michelin rated) and Russian River Vineyards in Forestville, and Raymond's Bakery in Cazadero.
