The beach house is located at 16562 South Pacific Ave. in Sunset Beach, which is a small mile-long town that is located between Seal Beach and Huntington Beach. There are 1288 year round residents. Even during summer, the beach is not crowded because public parking is very limited. This is not a problem because the beach house has an attached 2-car garage. In addition to gorgeous sunsets, a view of Catalina Island is also included!
The beach house is equipped and decorated with an emphasis on comfort and warmth. The living room furniture faces the fireplace and walnut paneling while providing an incredible view of the beach and ocean through large picture windows. The separate dining room also affords its own ocean view. The master bedroom has a queen size bed. Another bedroom has two twin beds, while the third is equipped with two sets of bunk beds. A front deck includes patio chairs, tables, an umbrella and a barbecue with charcoal and tools.
Amenities: Just off the deck is a secluded sandy area that is bordered by iceplant and offers privacy. Area: The location is unbeatable for family beach fun. The personal attention, details and emphasis on comfort of the home guarantee a wonderful experience. Gary and Chris use the place when it's available.
Born in Sunset Beach. Very familiar with town history, local events, colorful stories of past. Produced a town documentary 25 years years ago and recently had it transferred to video. A copy is in the beach house. Probably one of the best town boosters! Current main purpose/goal is to provide a memorable family beach vacation. 57 years old, married to Chris for 30 years, 3 kids.
Gary or Christine Liggett purchased this house in 1985
Bought my brother out 15 years ago. Goal is to retire there if we live long enough! Current purpose is to offer the house short term to help with payments, taxes and maintenance expenses. Also good investment.
The house is spotless. The owners friendly and helpful. Sunset Beach has great beaches and wonderful sunsets! Beach it or go to Disneyland which is close. Just a great place to spend a family vacation or a quiet get away for two!! I can highly recommend this property and I travel alot!
This place....oh this place. I just cannot wait to go back. It was perfect for me, my brother, and my 4 children. They had everything we needed right there. The owners are so pleasant to deal with and answered my every question before and during our stay. The place is not enormous, it was just enough. I dream of being there still. The kids are still talking about it too and how badly they want to go visit again next year. We had quite the experience of a lifetime for our first ever family vacation. It wasn't too much, it was just enough:)
I, my wife and two daughters have stayed at this beach house for 10 years. That alone should tell you something. What we like about it is that we instantly feel at home. Also, during most mid-week times, the beach is almost empty. Almost feels like we also rented a private beach. The neighborhood is relatively quiet and feels very safe and secure. The owners have provided everything you need to be comfortable and with a full size refrigerator, stove and range, there is no need to eat out if you prefer to eat at home. But if you prefer earing out when on vacation, there are plenty of good places to eat within just 2-3 miles of the house. I have personally recommended this beach house to friends and family and continue to do so.
We took our kids to this beach house for ten years and enjoyed every trip. Hope to start going back again soon after missing the last two years. The nice thing we liked is it feels like being in a home, not in a hotel. Also, sitting on the deck in the evening and watching the sun set over the ocean just makes the rest of life bearable.
What a wonderful vacation we had. We spent spring break at this rental. It was clean and ready for us as soon as our flight arrived. We met the owner who was very nice and helpful with all of our questions. The home had more than enough room to give all of us our space with plenty to spare. We had 2 adults and 3 teenagers. The beds were quite comfortable and the home was well stocked with towels, blankets, kitchen stuff, and anything we needed to make us feel at home. The home had a lot of character. Our security deposit was returned very quickly. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend staying here to anyone who is coming to the Orange County area.
"Sunset Beach is one of Southern California's great secrets. It is an island of tranquility in the Los Angeles basin, and centrally located for the local sights in LA and Orange County. We stayed in early March and experienced mostly sunny, clear days with outstanding views of Catalina (and even Santa Barbara Island!) on quiet beaches populated by ourselves and a few kitesurfers. Mornings were spent gazing at dolphins breeching in the surf. It doesn't get any better than this.
The house is RIGHT ON THE BEACH. You sit on the back patio or in the kitchen or living room, and you are looking out on the ocean. This is why you go to the beach, and this place delivers.
The home is a classic Orange County beach bungalow, true to the traditions of the location. You could spend two to four times as much for something more posh here or elsewhere on the beach, but why? You come here for the beach, not to live in a McMansion. Gary and Chris' house has a feel like you are in a real beach house, because it IS a real beach house. If you want to spend your time indoors with every surface covered with granite and travertine, this is not your place, but for regular folks who want to be at the beach this is heaven. Everything you need is here and the place is very clean, equipped and comfortable. We cooked our own meals most nights in the very nice kitchen. We had five adults and two small children and were very comfortable.
Good people and a great rental. You can't go wrong with this one."
