We loved staying at this condo for one week in February. There was plenty of room for my husband, daughter and I. The condo has everything you could need, and was spotless. We didn't see even one bug the whole time we were there!
My husband and I agreed that the beach in front of the condo is one of the nicest we have enjoyed. Nice temperature of the water and a beautiful sandy bottom (no rocks).
It was hot the week we were there but even tho there is no air conditioning the fans in the bedrooms kept up nicely.
The 2 lanais were both a good size and we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner outside every day!
This is a great condo if you want lots of room to spread out. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again!
We loved this property and would absolutely look at staying there again. However, we had just a couple of issues... Nothing to do with the property owner (Mike was great to deal with) and both things were out of his control, but things we wish we'd known. First was the construction. We had read that there was construction in the months before we went, but we were assured it would be completed before we got there. However, Mike e-mailed shortly before we arrived to warn us that it was likely still going on. Sure enough, we arrived to giant machines and the beautiful lawn from the pictures completely torn up. It wasn't a huge deal, but was definitely noisy and made it difficult to get around the resort. Pool access wasn't too bad (except you were up close and personal with the construction zone as you swam) but it meant beach access was a steep, sometimes muddy path down the far side - not great. However, that didn't matter much because the surf was so high we only used the beach for an hour during the ten days we were there. Every single day the waves were crashing right up to the wall (and sometimes over)! We had really wanted to be able to walk from our condo down to a beach every day but we ended up packing up the vehicle and driving and parking at other beaches around Maui every day. This was the most disappointing part for us. We never really knew if it was because of the season (Dec. 4-14) or if it just happened to be high surf but we would recommend researching it a little before you choose this property for the sandy beach in the pictures. Other than those two disappointments (again, totally out of Mike's hands!), we adored this condo. We went with our daughter who was almost three, and it was perfect for us. It's incredibly spacious and beautifully renovated. We went to Costco and Safeway and loved cooking in that beautiful kitchen every day, then eating on the GIANT deck looking out at the ocean! The bedrooms were gorgeous and it was fantastic having laundry in the unit - we used it often. We loved being able to put our daughter to bed upstairs and then going downstairs to relax on the deck in the warm Hawaiian evening air. Parking literally right outside the unit was a huge plus, especially when we were always hauling beach gear, groceries and a toddler - no stairs! The unit was well-equipped with small coolers, towels, beach toys, snorkel gear, beach chairs, etc. There were even hotel toiletries and a proper hair dryer! Overall it was lovely.
Mike was great to deal with when booking this condo and very professional and responsive. My husband and I stayed at this condo with our active 9 month old son. It was nice having a second bedroom for the kiddo to sleep in, it gave my husband and I a little more privacy. We could be in the bedroom or downstairs in the living area and felt like we could have a normal conversation without waking up the baby. However the master bathroom is more open to the hall/stairs so we couldn't be in this space when he was napping without waking him up, but not a huge issue. The condo was equipped with a pack and play and a portable booster seat with tray which was great! Less equipment to bring/rent. I brought my own pack-n-play sheet (the quilted kind) and that was good but the mat on the bottom of this pack-n-play wouldn't let you velcro strap it to the bottom of the pen (it's velcro was in the corners so with the sheet on it wouldn't catch) so the mat would scrunch up a little with the sheet on. Not the end of the world but might have been more of an issue if my kid was younger or less mobile. Note: make sure you know where the light switch is on the staircase at night. My kid woke up the first night a couple of times and you need to go down about 5 stairs and then back up about 5 stairs to get from the master bedroom to the kids room (much harder to do in the dark). The living area was great for him to crawl around on and with the rug felt safe as he was trying to pull up on everything. We utilized some of the beach mats and snorkels while we were there which was nice and the box of kid toys in the master bedroom closet were great when we ran out of "new" things for him to play with. The kids pool is a small wadding pool attached to the main pool and was nice as it was much warmer than the main pool, again great for little kids. We walked to the Gazebo restaurant (1 mile up the road) one morning and while we made it the road was so windy and for the most part without sidewalks it felt a little unsafe with the stroller. One thing we did end up needing to rent (from the store up the way) was a beach umbrella. Mike if you read this a kids sun tent or umbrella could be a great addition to your already impressive stash of kids gear :) Overall, it was a very relaxing stay. The condo was comfortable, safe for our little one and enabled my husband and I to still have some "us" time above a whisper after he went to bed.
This was my second visit to this property and my favorite. I travelled with my sister and friend and wanted their first trip to the Island be memorable. Once again Mike was great to deal with in planning our trip.
The condo is renovated beautifully and has everything we needed, from well equipped kitchen and beach supplies. No need to bring beach towels as 6 large beach towels are provided.
The views from both the living room and master bedroom are terrific. Every meal was enjoyed on the main lanai.
The beach is very quiet and plenty of beach chairs. Swam with the incredible turtles every day.
When tired of the beach we relaxed at the pool. Plenty of children were visiting the complex but they were happy yo play in the kids pool.
BBQ area very handy.
The staff on the property are very friendly and happy to answer any questions you may have.
Restaurants and stores are very close. A short walk in the morning to the Napilli mall with a great coffee shop and for supper a rotisierre grill offers the best ribs and chicken.
The bedrooms are large and beds comfortable. Easy to sleep with the sound of waves on the shore. Bathrooms are well equipped with towels.
This has become my favorite property on Maui and saving up for my next visit. I definitely will be staying at this unit. Feels like home when I walk in!
My family had never been to Maui before, I had with my parents and I wanted to show my husband and my two boys the island. This condo was perfect for our family. Close enough to everything, but also a quiet spot to retreat to when we wanted. Watching the sunrise or sunset for our balconies or beach were favorite activities. We gathered beach equipment and snorkeled every day at a nearby beach and saw turtles every day. On all my other visits to Maui, I had never seen a turtle. Truly amazing. The accommodations were exactly what was presented and we thoroughly enjoyed everything about our stay there. I have told several people about this condo already and how pleased we were with our stay. Thanks so much Mike for answering my crazy questions and for making this vacation possible for our family!
Our group of 4 were totally pleased with the condo and all the comforts it offered as well as all the amenities of the Kahana Sunset Resort complex. It is a quiet condo resort with no bar, shopping or restaurant facilities. It offers a great beach, pool, open areas and no "fights" for beach chairs. There were no issues at all with the condo. Mike was great to deal with and all transactions were handled in a very professional and efficient manner. The layout was great especially with the two decks and so nice having that extra half bath on the main floor. The unit was very clean, well stocked with everything from kitchen to outdoor activities. The Kahana Resort is close to other beaches, restaurants and shopping. Never had an issue getting a bar b cue at the main area for cooking dinner or lunches. There is no air conditioning, but having the fans and the ocean breeze from the two decks it was never really missed. The views of ocean, sunsets and whale watching were beautiful and of course watching the turtles at the beach was really unique. Thanks for sharing your piece of paradise with us.... Hopefully we can return one day...
