Family owned cottage near our childhood home. Our family has looked after this cottage on behalf of other owners for many years. We recently decided to purchase it for our use.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2009

This area is close to amenities, and well serviced, yet has a truly removed-from-it-all feel. Lots of great boating right at the dock. Sparrow Lake is only five minutes down stream. Georgian Bay, Lake Couchiching, and all the other great places on the Trent-Severn are close by. The Torrance Barrens is a 20-minute drive. The private Muskoka Wildlife Park is 10-minutes away.

It's so wonderful to wake up in the morning and sit out on the porch and enjoy breakfast while looking over the river and the birds and wildlife. Later in the day we have a choice to go biking, hiking, or boating right from the cottage.

All About Family

What we loved best about our stay here was sitting on the dock and watching all the boats go by on the Trent-Severn waterway. We also enjoyed the canoe that was part of our cottage rental. My grandson loved to go fishing every day with his uncles, although no one caught anything worth keeping. Loved, loved, loved the screened in porch that we sat out on every night and played many a board game that were provided. Loved the setting but the cottage itself could use some upgrading. Overall fantastic weather, great hosts to deal with and a beautiful property.

Great location and great property!

  • 5 of 5
I just stayed for a weekend at this fantastic cottage with myself and 5 other guys. Had an amazing weekend! The property is directly on a fantastic river giving you access to Sparrow lake and an incredible water way system. Just far enough to give you a good cottage feel while keeping you near many great amenities. Will definitely be looking at coming back on a yearly basis!

Great Little Cottage

  • 5 of 5
We had stayed for 2 nights over a very sunny weekend and always had something fun to do! There is a big back yard and deck if you feel like relaxing outside, tons of room on the dock to catch some fish and there are also canoes to explore the severn river. We had 8 people stay but had no problem with fitting everyone in. An overall awesome weekend; This place was perfect!

Great Family Weekend

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I rented the cottage for the long weekend with our grown children. We boated to the property from Lake Simcoe. The dock was great for our needs and the property was very central to many attractions. Nice lawn, lots of chairs, used the barbecue, had bonfires. Everything worked well - there was everything you would ever need. I cooked a full thanksgiving dinner. The owners were easy to deal with - it was great value for the money. The cottage is older and has a lot of charm - the red counter tops are unique and the stove works well but looks like it is out of a museum. Nicely renovated bathroom and walk in shower. The gas fireplace worked well and kept us toasty.

If we had a few challenges it was the ankle deep wet leaves on the decks, that got tracked in when we got there. We should have brought our leaf blower. It took a few hours to clean decks, wipe down lawn furniture and vacuum the front poach. I also had to clean the cutlery drawer, and kitchen sink. There were lots of cleaning supplies - so it was not a big deal. The place was generally clean but I am a little picky.

We had a great time and will rent again. We have recommended to a few friends. The pictures and descriptions reflect our experience.

Relaxing Family Cottage Week

  • 5 of 5
Thanks again - this charming cottage is exactly as shown & described. Ample sleeping areas. Clean. We loved the screened in back porch with dining table/chairs as well as the spacious back deck area where we enjoyed our evening BBQs. We appreciated not having to bring our own bedding, towels or outside lawn chairs, as this was all supplied. The walk-in shower was great. Not sure if I've ever seen an authentic red kitchen counter-top, but that just added to the charm of the cottage. We enjoyed some of the board games & books provided. We were even able to paddle down the river in their canoe without tipping it! We got perch, bass, pickerel, crappy & pike in Shadow Lake, as well as some small pan fish & pike right at the dock. We enjoyed watching all sizes of boats & yachts making their way along the Trent Waterway to the locks, hoping that someday when we won the lottery, we'd be on the boat waving at the people on shore rather than the other way around! It was great to have a place that allowed our pets. We all appreciated one of the pictures sitting in one of the bedrooms of the cottage taken back in 1912, 101 years ago. The scenery back then was quite stark in comparison to today, where, now there are many trees keeping the property comfortably shaded most of the day.

Awesome cottage!

  • 5 of 5
The cottage was exactly what we expected! It's in very good share, clean and very functional with all daily utensils to have a long stay on it. We definitively enjoined our stay there and had a lot of fun with the kids. Jan is a very good person and 100% trustable. We will go back to the cottage by the next year.
