This home has been in our family since 1996. Our experiences with this house have been that of uniqueness, excitement, bonding, and joy. Since our family has moved on, its tenants have been diverse and many. For several years we offered it to family, friends, and missionaries from our church who needed a place between their calls of service. In 2010 we decided to list it here on VRBO / HomeAway. We always found our house to be a wonderful place for families to gather, experience, and grow, and we hope our home will provide such an environment for those who choose to visit.
Kay purchased this house in 1996
We work very hard to make sure our house & property is well maintained and up-to-date.... interior and exterior. Since we began our VRBO journey, we've been making improvements every year. We hope they are appreciated by our guests.
Character. Charm. Personality. Uniqueness. Private. Intimate. Quiet. Get-Away. Spacious. One of a kind.
The lake is beautiful & there is a lot to see in & around Oconomowoc. Enjoyed the day trip to Horicon Marsh area. Nice area. Beautiful time of year with the changing of the colors. Fall is very pretty here. Enjoyed all the lakes we saw. House decorated cute.
WOW!!! We fell head over heels in love with this place! We loved all of the intricate details you can only get from being in a Victorian style home. The place was absolutely beautiful and we had an absolute blast here over the weekend. Can't wait to figure out another reason for us to stay at the house.
And the owner was so wonderful and so nice to work with. This is a definite must if you're looking to stay in the area.
My wife and I and four friends stayed here in mid October and it was absolutely wonderful. There was so much color and it was extremely quiet! It was a perfect place for a get-away.
When it was sunny we enjoyed hours of sitting and reading on the deck by the lake, and we kayak'd and canoe'd on the beautiful and private waters. The water was very very clear, you could see the bottom from very far out. Saw a lot of fish too. A couple of us even jumped in for a quick swim even though the lake thermometer said 55! When it was rainy we brought the books inside, made a fire, and spent some great quality time together playing games and cooking fun food. At night we made fires by the fire pit, and even cooked some burgers & brats over the fire with the handy-dandy grilling grate they had.
We all had more than enough space in our bedrooms, they were very well-setup and organized. Everything was very clean too. Even the germaphobe among us felt comfortable knowing every pillow and mattress has bed-bug protectors (yes she checked!). We tried out the sofa sleeper for one night and I've never slept on such a comfortable sofa bed before. The kitchen accommodations were great too, they even had spices so we didn't have to go buy those. The kids would have loved the loft area but since we didn't have kids with us for this trip we didn't spend any time up there.
All said, we had a wonderful experience, this is truly a special place, and we will be back.
Our group of women spent a wonderful 3 days here. The kitchen is very well equipped and the dining table comfortably holds 10-12 people. The house was spotless and ready for us and there are many comfy chairs outside to enjoy the lovely view of the lake. The property is just beautiful. We would have liked more specific directions on turning on the heat upstairs. The living room is small for a gathering place (it's an old but very nicely updated and well cared for home) but a few more comfortable chairs (maybe portable) would have been nice. We spent a morning in Oconomowoc, which is a charming little town, and a lot of time sitting outside enjoying the weather and the lake view. We would love to return.
My husband and I stayed here while visiting family in the area. It was calm and beautiful. A perfect spot for some quality time. We also had family over for a picnic and everyone loved the place. It was a wonderful spot to gather and we can't wait to return!
We enjoyed this property for a Fall family get-a-way. My daughter has three young children and the loft was a great area where we could spread out and play. The house had movies, games, air hockey table ( exact one we had for our kids), and a closet full of quilts and blankets that was a hide-away for the 2 and 4 year olds. The decor in the house was delightful. Beds were very comfortable. The fire pit had all you needed for a hot dog roast and s'mores. The property is lovely and the porch view outstanding. Loved sitting there in the mornings with a cup of java looking at the fall foliage and hearing the geese over head. Even better in the evenings when the setting sun sets the trees opposite of the lake on fire. For two tired parents of a 4, 2 1/2, and 6 months old children, it was a chance to be alone for a romantic sunset while the grandparents entertained the troop up in the loft.
Surrounding area was nice for hikes, pumpkin patch, breakfast out, and coffee at Root's Cafe. The property was where we spent most of the time playing outside with the girls. It was private and quiet. Kay answered all my text messages promptly as we found our way around the house. I was responsible for the location and everyone was very happy with my choice. We all thought it would be great to stay here in the summer as the dock and lake were great.
We stayed here with our 4 kids and 1 grandchild for a week and had an amazing time. The house is perfect and the yard is so much bigger than the pictures reveal. The little lake is quiet and beautiful and the kayaks and paddle boat made it even better.
The owners are so nice to work with and the house has everything you need for a relaxing family getaway with some adventure.
We will definitely be back.
