This home is cooled with ceiling fans in nearly every room, natural breezes (all windows have screens, screen doors on 3 levels, and a master-bedroom air conditioner. For a cozy Winter, Fall or early Spring visit, the lodge features electric baseboard heat, a wood-burning fireplace, and woodstove (please inquire about availability of firewood). Your well-behaved dog is welcome at no extra charge (please inquire if you have more than one dog) and the deck is gated, the backyard fenced, as well as an extra-large pet crate on the premises. A friendly outdoor cat resides at the cabin, and we request guests to feed him once a day (food is provided)-- if this is a problem please let us know so we can make alternate arrangements for the kitty during your stay. The location is complete with private, natural walking paths adjacent to the home, one woodland trail and one open-field wildflower trail.

Relaxing

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I were taking our son to ride The Polar Express and we decided to make it a long weekend trip. We found this cabin and booked for 2 nights. We really enjoyed it! We were all able to relax, play board games, and watch TV. We had a great time. The cabin was very comfortable. We loved the seclusion, so peaceful and quiet. The owner was great to deal with. Overall, it was an excellent experience!

Wonderful!!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I spent a week at this cabin. We had a wonderful relaxing time. The cabin was very clean and homie. We love the secluded location. We were very glad that we could take our dog with us and loved that there was a fenced in portion of the yard so our little boy could run with out being on a leash. The hot tub was great! So relaxing and loved seeing the stars so clear at night. Upon arrival we were greeted by the resident kitty. Itty Bitty Kitty came to get feed every morning and for a daily dose of love. The trails around the property wre very nice to walk, the dog loved his daily walks and seeing the horses in the next pasture. Feeding and watching the birds was a blast and we saw deer just about every morning and evening. We took a day trip to Cass to ride the train, had several good meals in Elkins. We will be back again. Thank you so much Teresa for sharing you beautiful cabin. The location is the bomb and the price can't be beat!!

Almost Heaven, West Virginia

  • 5 of 5
This was our second stay at this cabin. If you are looking for peace and quiet and want to get away from the hustle and bustle, this is the place. It is the most relaxing place to vacation. Very private. There are many places to visit in the area and several very good restaurants. The hostess kitty is very sweet and loveable. The owner is wonderful to deal with and very prompt in answering any questions. We are now planning for our next visit.

Our group of 4 ladies' travel somewhere every September. This was a wonderful stay for us; we enjoyed our circle of friendship as we each knitted on a project. Our travels around the area were great, as was our visit to a wonderful little yarn shop in Beverly. Itty Bitty is a loving, friendly kitty. Our train trip on the Tygart was wonderful. I, personally, enjoyed my late afternoon cup of coffee on the balcony off the master bedroom.Beautiful, beautiful country and a wonderful lodge to call home for 5 days.

Wonderful Lodge with "Home Away From Home" Feel

Wonderful Lodge with "Home Away From Home" Feel
  • 5 of 5
This is a wonderful lodge/cabin with all the comforts of home (including cell service on Verizon's network). The lodge is very warm and inviting, and more spacious than we imagined. Everything was very clean and the kitchen was stocked with all the cooking utensils you may need! There are plenty of blankets to curl up with and comfortable beds. The fenced-in yard & deck was a great bonus for our dog and the maintained pathways on the property were fun to explore. My favorite part of the lodge would have to be the small deck off the loft/master bedroom: great for enjoying a cup of coffee & bird-watching in the mornings! We even had a few "friends" visit our campfire one evening (several deer made their way up the drive but were eventually scared-off by our dog).
A short 10-15 minute drive will get you to a shopping district with a Wal-Mart (for anything you may have "forgotten" to pack) and there's a Kroger grocery store a bit further in Elkins, however, the lodge is rather secluded and removed from the hustle and bustle of city-life. We took a ride on the New Tygart Flyer train from the Durbin & Greenbriar Valley Railroad (approx. 20-25 minute drive) and visited Davis & Elkins College and the surrounding area.
I would highly recommend this location if you're looking for a relaxing time while having all the comforts of home!

Second stay...love it!!!

  • 5 of 5
This was my second visit and it remains just wonderful. Last time I got the friendly little chicadees to eat out of my hand. They did not show up this time until the last day and did not have time to coax them in. This is a very clean and comfortable cabin! Beds are very comfortable!!! Nice areas around,,,Blackwater Falls and the Cass Railroad are about an hour drive...nice day trips! Visited with 6 church friends and they loved it!!!
