SECLUSION ON 46 PRIVATE ACRES - COMFORTABLE MOUNTAIN LOG HOME

Upon our arrival we found it to be very beautiful. The place looks just like it does in the picture. It was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. We met my life long friend and her husband there becaue it is half way for us to meet. We ejoyed cooking and hanging out and playing cards. We adventured out during the day and were able to site see. You can be at AppleBees in 10 min along with many other places. The weather was not the best so we didn't get to have a camp fire or enjoy a long walk on the grounds but we did see may deer and rabbits and IttyBitty Kitty, which was so friendly, made us feel like we were home. We would totally recommend to any one wanting to relax and have some privacy away from the city and back to nature. We hope to return again in the near future.

I searched the web to find a place in the middle to meet up with my childhood friend & our husbands. We were very fortunate to find this secluded, inexpensive gem in the ruff. As we all drove up to the house we were taken back by the beauty & total privacy. Still you can be to Apple Bees & a ton of other resturants within 10 minutes. As we walked into the rental we were once again taken back by all the room & how clean this place was. Everything you could need for your stay was available. We didn't get to do a fire but did use the hot tub. In fact the morning we were preparing to leave, my husband & I got into the hot tub & had snow flurries. It was wonderful. There is a cat called Itty Bitty Kitty, he is not itty bitty, but he is beautiful & friendly. This place is smack in the middle of so many attractions in the mountains of WV, of which we got to visit Smoke Hole, Seneca Rocks & Spruce Knob. All doable in one day. There's a balcony in the upstairs bedroom that all four of us were able to sit on & enjoy. We didn't venture out at night but instead sat around the dining room table playing cards. It was so relaxing. It was also great to see my friend & was the first time she & her husband got to meet my husband. This house is three stories, so if you don't like stairs it won't be for you. It feels like you're in the middle of no where, which can be a bit scary for some. We found it peaceful. We did not get to tour the grounds as the weather was a bit rainy over the long weekend. There were flowers blooming all over the place. We did see rabbits & deer. I would totally recommend this place to anyone looking for a secluded, relaxing, peaceful & inexpensive time. It's very well maintained & the owner was extremely helpful with all my questions. Even after we had checked out because I wanted to know Itty Bitty Kitty's story. The picture shown of the driveway up tp the house is very acturate. This gives you a great idea of the seclusion. Many thanks to the owner for making this place available & we hope to visit again in the future.

I chose to stay at the lodge for a 3 generations girls getaway based on the location and all the great reviews. The cabin is in a lovely community, quite close to Elkins, and the most breath-taking scenery WV has to offer. I found it to be better than expected- photos do not do the lodge justice. It was sparkling clean, cozy, & comfortable. The grounds were lovely(dogwoods & deer!), the kitchen was well stocked, there were lots of games and movies, and bonding with my daughter in the hot tub made a memory I'll cherish. I'm giving it 4 stars because, unfortunately, my 85 year old mother didn't like it at all. She felt it was too isolated, too rustic, and just too far out of her comfort zone .Based on her experience, I don't think I would recommend Oak Mtn for elderly folks no matter how spry. It is, however, fabulous for families, couple getaways, younger senior citizens, and friendly get togethers. PS- Verizon worked great! I had no trouble getting cell phone service at all. And be sure to eat at The Alpine Springs Lodge in Bowden!
