We had a great family get-together.We had a family get together at "Casa De Cozumel" for 2 days. It was a part of 8 adults and 5 kids. The stay was excellent overall.
Couple of things which stood out are, Access to the lake from the deck, Kayak, lots of life jackets, floating tube, Beautiful deck, BBQ, Kitchen utensils, 2 futons (we used only 2, there are more), Pool table, Amazing views from the living room/dining room/deck etc.
I have been communicating with Julia and she was very helpful and understanding.
Julia was friendly and welcoming. She was responsive to our rental inquiry and questions through phone and email. (Note: Homeaway email system did fail to send a response, traveler may want to confirm the receipt of emails for important questions) I’ll go over few things we liked during our stay.
-Lake view in the dining room and living room was fantastic.
-The house is equipped with most everyday tools, utensils and accessories.
-There are a lot of board games on the shelf. We brought our own, but we were pleased to see that we have other options.
-Poker table. Pool table. Big dining table.
-Kitchen is well equipped. It even has a kitchenaid mixer.
-Jucuzzi was clean. The sundeck downstair had chairs, bbq grill and a fire pit. It was raining whole day during our stay and we didn’t use any of this, but we can see ourselves enjoying the day or night out there.
-Clean sheets and pillow cover were provided for the futon beds.
The house comes with a lot of decorations (old style phone, figures on the wall ect). It also posts some history about the house and the original owner. The house was not super new, but it was organized and was comfortable to stay.
Overall, we would recommend it to any of group of friends and families for a peaceful time at Clear Lake.
I recently took our team to stay at Casa de Cozumel and had a great stay and accommodations. We were in the area for a tournament and stayed 2 nights and we will definitely be back next year! The house was set up and clean upon arrival and the owner checked in to see if we needed anything else.
We stayed with a group of 16 at Casa de Cozumel over New Years. Everything in the house was very well-maintained and clean and Julia, the owner, is the nicest person I have ever rented a house from. When you lie on the sundeck and watch the lake, you actually think you are in paradise. However, when you are in the house with 16 people it feels a bit cramped and we couldn't figure out where 16 people should sleep unless you where using one of the beds that is standing outside - a bit cold in winter (good we brought an air-mattress). But other than that it was perfect and we definitely plan to come back in summer with less people.
We had 4 families with a lot of kids come to Clearlake for a weekend in order to attend the memorial service for our Grandmother. Including the children, we were a few over the stated maximum capacity for this house, but we asked and Julia gave us permission to stay. The house only has 3 bedrooms, but there were at least 3 futons and a large couch and plenty of floor space in the common areas, so it was snug but we all had a good time.
The house is well-equipped for children of all ages. There was a closet full of toys, a small table and chairs, highchair, crib, potty seat, etc. for our younger ones. Then there was the pool table and game console and hot tub and boat dock that the older kids enjoyed. A couple of our kids just had fun counting the number of old phones that were displayed throughout the house, and “making calls” in the downstairs phone booth.
The kitchen was well supplied, though a bit cramped for a group our size. It was fully stocked with plenty of dishes and silverware for all of us, as well as serving bowls and utensils. The double ovens were very helpful, and we were thankful for the dishwasher. Between the dining table, the outdoor patio table & the little kids table, there was plenty of seating space. We had a few additional family members over for a lunch reception after the memorial service and it worked out fine—Julia even got out her nicer dishes and serving trays for that, which was an added special touch.
This isn't a plush upscale resort home, but with all our kids, that's not what we were looking for. So there were a few things that could have been better maintained (a faucet drain was slow, a pot full of water from a leak in the kitchen, a missing deck board) but those were not a huge deal. What WAS a big deal was that the main sewer line clogged completely on our second night, resulting in raw sewage bubbling up in both upstairs tubs and toilets and then onto the floors. Thankfully, Julia was able to get a plumber out to the house who eventually cleared the line, but our whole evening was wasted cleaning up the huge mess. Hopefully that has been resolved and will not occur again, but for that reason I would be very hesitant to bring a big group again.
Julia was quick in communication and easy to work with in preparation for our weekend, but unfortunately I think we got on her bad side with the plumbing fiasco and then things were not so pleasant.
Overall it's a good house as long as the plumbing works properly.
We stayed the weekend and the whole family loved it. We enjoy houses made to feel like homes. The eclectic decor was amazing. The plants beautiful. The water peaceful. We enjoyed the kayak and there were supplies for everything. The spa entertained old and young. The BBQ made for some great meals. The downstairs bedroom is wonderful for a family with small children or lovers looking for a view. The pool table downstairs and bar was incredible and the community bathroom was just off that room.. 2 futons downstairs, floor room for TV, nintendo stuff, and a pull out cot and crib. The upstairs 'Master Bedroom and Bath' was my home. Super large bed and private bathroom. Slightly separated and peaceful from the house at large. The other upstairs room and community bathroom was and I quote, "a wonderful shower'. The upstairs living room had a great view and a pull out sectional sofa, small library, poker table, another futon, and a large game closet that we indulged in. Balacony dining and indoor dining room with a nice large modern kitchen, fridge, coffee maker, and dishes. Views and balconies everywhere. Must be a chore keeping this place up. It is older an lived in, but that was my favorite part. The house had flavor, history, and relaxation written all over it. I appreciate the stay and for once I'd say the pictures do this place justice.
Wow! This was an amazing house! It looks just like the pictures and the WONDERFUL owners keep the house in tip-top shape. We had a mini-retreat there with just the leaders of our youth group and WOW! It was perfect.
The men and boys, claimed the "man-cave" and played pool till 2am. It turned out to be the best thing we could do to encourage and bless the youth!
Though the lake was cold, I can't think of any other downfall, and who can blame a lake for being cold in Febuary! It was the perfect place for a smallish/largish group. We had 16 and everyone was comfortable. AND she acutally had enough dishes, etc to accomodate 16 a HUGE PLUS!
I would recommend this to anyone! Go! We had some great times with Jesus, the hotub and of course each other!
Thanks J & G!!!
