We enjoyed our winter holidays at the charming Garden Sanctuary. Very convenient location, 10 min drive to downtown; nearby grocery and Starbucks just a few minutes walk. Beautiful kitchen with dishwasher; new washer/dryer, good central heating. Our family of six was very comfortable with the 2 bedrooms and sleeper couch.
Some things to consider, though: would have liked more water pressure in the shower; brighter lights, especially in the peach room; and some guidelines on what is recyclable vs non-recyclable waste.
Overall, it was a very charming and comfortable place to spend our family winter vacation.
I had rented this property as a home base for a series of business meetings and to explore the Seattle area from.
It has a great central location but far enough from the I-5 and downtown core to be easily accessible during rush-hour traffic. It was just a short walk to the great restaurants and culture of Capitol Hill.
It is just a quick, short drive to UW, West Seattle, Downtown and Ballard - this house was a perfect location for us and back yard garden sanctuary was a great bonus for the long summer evenings.
The house itself is well appointed, well-equipped and tastefully decorated with great personality and character.
I recommend this property for anyone who wants to "experience" real Seattle character instead of merely stopping by....
My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. The Sanctuary is a beautiful house and just the right size. It is my dream to have a home like this one day. So much character and cozyness. Sheila has this wonderful binder full of any and all information that one might need for a visit to Seattle. We kept in contact through email, but she was also always available by phone. We slept in the peach room and the platform bed was extremely comfortable. The location cannot be beat. The bus stop closeby takes you right to all of the hot spots. I would not hesitate to stay here again next time we visit Seattle. Thank you Sheila for renting out your perfect home to us!!!
We enjoyed all the amenities included with our stay-- including a wonderful collection of books, a well-stocked kitchen, and even yoga equipment! Sheila was very accommodating and responsive. We would recommend this house to anyone looking to stay in the area.
Sheila's home was very comfortable, even for 4 adults and two kids. There was plenty of space and everything was easy to manage. She had detailed instructions for us. When we had a couple of questions, she was available right away to answer them. The only downside (and reason for four star rating) was the street noise which is inevitable given the central location. We (and our kids) are light sleepers though. White noise helped with this quite a bit. Overall we would return. Everything was clean, in good working order and Sheila was a gracious hostess.
This is a great house - beautifully (and interestingly!) decorated, very comfortable and more spacious than expected. It's convenient to downtown Seattle (although not walking distance) and has a driveway for parking, which is quite nice since most of the hotels charge a hefty fee. If traveling with a group that would require 2 or more hotel rooms, it's definitely more economical and has the added bonus of a roomy, home environment, a well stocked kitchen and a nice private courtyard/garden area. Sheila has thought of everything you could possibly need and has detailed instructions for everything. The only thing to be aware of is that there is some street noise; however, we found that the fans/heater/a/c in the bedrooms provided sufficient white noise to block enough of it that it was not a problem for us. We would definitely stay there again when in the area.
Just 1.5 miles to the Seattle waterfront and famous Pike Place Market, a short drive/cab/bus ride. While walking is possible, remember that Seattle is famous for it's hills! This property is easy walking distance to local neighborhood restaurants and entertainment, as well as the arboretum.
