Here's that ideal "Golden Pond" lake cottage in a quiet natural setting with call of loons near. Simple because it all provides a relaxed vacation on the shores of Great Pond, one of Maine's largest lakes. Traditional wood interior, full views of lake and sunsets from almost every room. Nothing fancy, and you'll sleep to the lapping of the lake just feet away. Swim and recreate right off the dock and lower deck. Mooring provided, and canoe. Hike and bike directly from here. Sugarloaf 1 hour away. Perfect for kids of all ages to recreate and relax!

About The Owner

Now happily married empty nesters, we bought this camp for 3 kids and as a family we spent every summer with friends enjoying all the recreation and relaxation. The quiet and beauty around us provided the rest we needed for the busy lifestyles we all lead. Our family remains very close and very balanced thanks to this cottage.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 1989
Why The Owner chose Rome

Other family members had a camp nearby and we realized we needed more space, and our own cottage, for the many years of summer enjoyment ahead.

What makes this cottage unique

We purposely do not have TV and other technologies because the focus is on family, friends and fun. With all the sports directly on the lake or nearby, we never yearn for more! And on those rare rainy days, curling up with a book and warm fire hits the spot perfectly.

Best vacation ever

My husband and I were fortunate to vacation at this property for a week several years ago. Since then we have traveled across the country, been to some amazing places, but we still reminisce about our simple, relaxing, rejuvenating vacation on the lake. Sunsets and sunrises from the dock are beautiful! Daily trips to the general store to pick up lobsters for dinner and fresh donuts (if they haven't sold out) is a must. Across the pond there is a great restaurant that has amazing duck sausage that is matched only by the view. Antique shops are a short drive away in Waterville and the local auction (down the street) of "treasures" can also be entertaining. If you need a vacation to re connect, without the everyday distractions of life this is where you need to go. Have a great time and I hope you enjoy your trip as much as we have.
