Right across the street is the Lake Forest neighborhood, with two excellent sandy beaches on Lake Tahoe, within walking distance. In addition to being a winter sports destination, Tahoe City is happening all seasons of the year, with free movies and concerts on the beach, Thursday Farmer's Market, Truckee River rafting, hiking, mountain biking, galleries, shopping, excellent dining, and nightlife.
Of course the wider area includes Kings Beach's sandy beach and quaint town, Crystal Bay's casinos and nightlife, Carnelian Bay's paddleboarding and watersports, Northstar's ice skating and skiing, Squaw's Village events and skiing, and Truckee's colorful history and vibrant town.
