We decided to open our home to others after hosting a dream wedding and receiving rave reviews from attendees. The guests loved the views, the kitchen, the entertaining areas, the proximity to country and city. Our unique home, built in 2005, offers easy access to historic downtown Poulsbo, Bainbridge Island and Seattle.
Dave McKay purchased this chateau / country house in 2005
The gorgeous views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains and close proximity to the beach drew us to this location. We broke ground in 2005, and situated our house for optimum viewing pleasure. We chose the finest craftsmen to provide a house that warmly welcomes guests and invites them to return year after year.
Nature lovers will delight in bird watching and walks through the nearby park, adjacent to our two-plus acres of heaven on earth. Stroll hand-in-hand on the beach, watch the sun set over the Olympics and the Hood Canal, see purple mountains majesty in their glory all while enjoying the luxuries of a five-star hotel...without the hassle of room keys and noisy next-door neighbors. Pack a picnic lunch, take a cruise to Bainbridge Island where you can enjoy bicycling and shopping, or for the more adventurous, hop a ferry into Seattle and enjoy the historic Pike Place Market. Our rental offers the amenities of home without the hustle and bustle.
This home had everything we needed! The owners were wonderful to work with and met us at the house upon our arrival. We had fresh fruit waiting for us! The upstairs game room was incredible - the 7 kids in our group had a ball! We picked berries and had BBQ's outside, even in the cooler gray weather. There was enough bedding (all super comfy!) and pillows for everyone - kids all stayed together in the game room and loved every minute of it! Lots of nice touches and a really well appointed home. We would highly recommend it to all! Thank you so much!
We celebrated my mother's birthday with all the grandkids, and had such a lovely time! This house was the perfect space for us to be able to spread out and enjoy family time. The game room was a fantastic space for the kids to play while the adults visited. It was a relaxing and enjoyable weekend! Thanks so much for opening your home to us.
The setting was perfect: a view of Olympic Mountains, Hood Canal and beautiful, fresh weather daily. The home was perfect for our needs, sleeping 16 comfortably, as we celebrated both family wedding (held on a ranch ten minutes away) and reunion. The children loved the outdoors and spent much time on the property, at the creek. The quiet was incredible.
Various families enjoyed Seattle via foot ferry, Port Townsend, quaint Poulsbo, Olympic Mountains, the Rainforest, The Pacific Ocean, Ferry to Canada from Port Angeles, Mr. Rainer as well as a beautiful outdoor wedding.
This home was a wonderful place for our 3 families to vacation. We chose it as it was near Bainbridge Island (where my nephew's wedding was held). The home came FULLY equipped. The open/spacious layout downstairs accommodated all of us quite well during mealtime, etc. The large upstairs game room was a BIG hit with the piano, games & TV provided. It also made for a nice sleeping spot. Although views of the bay were somewhat obscured by foliage, the mountains & surrounding area were beautiful. The upstairs deck was especially a great place to sip your morning coffee and/or enjoy the evening sunsets. We also enjoyed our barbecues, bocce ball (provided) & fires in the pit. The abundant flowers around the house exterior added a very nice touch to a lovely home. The location was nice as it was close to everything, but yet somewhat secluded and peaceful. I hope we have the opportunity to visit again!
We had our immediate family stay here the week of our daughter's wedding at Kitsap Memorial park. (adjacent to this property). With the variety of entertaining spaces, we had plenty of room for all to persue different activities. These included an outdoor deck for sunbathing, a huge game room, large, shaded porches and a fire pit for after dark s'mores. We entertained 30 or so people for a pre wedding BBQ and a brunch for the wedding party, also about 30 people, with ease. The kitchen- with the large refrigerater and freezer was ideal for food preparation and there was a large variety of dishes and serving platters and bowls to create an impressive presentation at both these large meals and at the smaller, family meals. There was plenty to do in the area for adults and children alike. There is a playground and beach to explore at the park, golf, hiking and shopping nearby. We highly recommend this property for large gatherings of friends or family.
We rented this home the week of our daughter's wedding at the Kitsap Memorial Park. It easily accomodated our family and several friends who arrived early. We were able to host a BBQ and brunch for the entire wedding party. Having the option of a huge covered porch and a large deck helped us to plan for any weather. The house was well stocked with kitchen items including plenty of large platters and serving bowls. The large freezer and refrigerater made food preparation and storeage a breeze. We had many compliments on the beauty of the house and the ability for us all to spend time in one place for an entire week. Several people Golfed, some visited Paulsbo and others hiked in the area. We highly recommend this property for large gatherings. We had three generations represented and never felt crowded. The rec room above the garage was particularly popular with the younger crowd and the outdoor fire pit was a hit after dark for the making of s'mores. A great way for the family to spend time together in the days before and after the wedding.
