When you think of going to your get away on the lake we're sure you'd picture something like the Red Cottage on Long Lake. Rustic in the true sense, the main room is an original log cabin built over 100 years ago.
Accommodations include a queen sized bed in a first floor bedroom. There also is a full-size futon in the main room that can sleep one or two. The upstairs is one large room with 2 twin beds, two full-sized beds and tons of floor space for your sleeping bags and air mattresses to accommodate more guests.
There is an eat-in kitchen as well as bar stools in the pass through kitchen. A large round cast iron table and 6 chairs are in the main room open to the living room and TV.
The screened in porch lakeside has two custom built cast iron chaise lounge chairs, a table and two Cracker Barrel rockers. Offers a wonderful view all day and evening of the lake. Perfect for morning coffee or an afternoon nap!
The lake front is fully finished with two levels of decking for a view above and at water level. The beach is sandy and hard-bottomed and has a gradual grade to about 48 inches of depth 50 feet from shore. It's ideal for kids to play in the water or for you to wade in and pass the time right in front of the cottage.
Evening relaxation is spent around the lake side fire pit or relaxing on lounge chairs or rockers on the screened-in porch.
Downtown Hale is minutes away and offers, amongst other amenities, a grocery store and butcher shop where you can get the best home-cured bacon in all of Michigan! There are restaurants within a 5 minute drive and in town.
Tawas, Michigan, on Lake Huron is a 25 minute drive away and offers more variety in the form of restaurants, a cinema and other activities. It's a nice diversion on those bad weather days.
Long Lake is an all sports lake with a public boat launch.
If you smoke we'd appreciate it if you would go out to the screened-in porch.

The owners live down state in Michigan and own another property on Long Lake that they use almost every weekend from May to November.
We purchased this home for our own use. We liked the lake so much that we bought a larger home on the lake late in 2006 and decided to rent this one so others can enjoy the lake as much as we do.
This cottage is also for sale. Inquire directly.
There are trees on the south side (lake side) of the cottage that help keep the home shaded and cool!
