Lory Cottage is our lakeside cottage; a lovely two story, two bedroom getaway located at the end of the lane. It's the perfect place for pedal boating, fishing, tubing, or just relaxing by the water! Amenities : Living room w/gas fireplace, eat in kitchen, TV w/DVD player (no TV reception), Am/Fm radio CD player, electric baseboard heat, central a/c, full bath downstairs w/1/2 bath upstairs, full size stack washer/dryer, 2 bedrooms upstairs - both w/queen size beds, sundeck upstairs accessed from both bedrooms, living room deck with hot tub, large front porch, and charcoal grill by the front yard. Lory Cottage is fully furnished, and has all of your necessary bed and bath linens and pillows.

About Green Valley Cottages: While our main priority at Green Valley is to offer you a secluded, private vacation; we are not the stereotypical cabin in the woods. Our cottages are cozy, but light; decorated in the cottage style of pastels and florals. Each cottage has their own private gas or electric log fireplace and hot tub; the perfect places to relax after an equaling relaxing day. They also have their own fully equipped kitchens stocked with everything from the refrigerator to the tea towels. Each cottage also has a private campfire area and charcoal grill, as well as 2 bicycles.

We've tried to provide everything you need for the ultimate relaxing experience. This is your vacation; all you have to do is come!

About the Property: Our 75 acre property is the perfect place to find peace and quiet. Originally founded in the 1960s as a campground, Green Valley was reinvented and reopened as our cottage getaway in 1996. For the past 15 years, hundreds of guests have experienced the simple beauty that is Green Valley.

The lake at Green Valley is 3 acres in size and ranges in depth from 4 ft. to 16 ft. Stocked with bass, bluegill, and catfish the lake is a favorite with everyone. A floating dock gives easy access to the pedal boat and rowboat and a fishing dock with Adirondack chairs makes a great place to soak up some sun, read, or throw in a line!

The hills and valleys of the property are filled with marked hiking trails for your enjoyment. On a spring day, discover a small waterfall on Smith Run Trail or question the origins of an old abandoned fence on Split Rail Trail. Fill your pockets with wild raspberries in the summertime as you meander down Bill's Trail and rediscover again the simple pleasures of life.

Lory Cottage is located just 6 miles off of Interstate 70 near Warfordsburg, Pa. We are 1.5 hrs. west of the D.C./Baltimore,Md. area and 2.5 hrs. east of Pittsburgh, Pa. It is a tri-state area and is close to Hancock, Md. and Berkeley Springs, WV. We are in one of the most rural counties in the country, but are close to outlet shopping, malls, theaters, and snow skiing. The C&O Canal, Potomac River, and a 20 mile hard surfaced bike trail are all nearby. Although there is much to do in the area, most of our guests find our cottage and property is where they want to stay. We have been providing this getaway property since 1995 and have many return guests. The quiet seclusion and natural beauty of this property are hard to find. You cannot see another house from Lory Cottage. As owners, our main desire is to keep the property as undeveloped as possible, so our guests can enjoy the natural beauty all around them.

We stayed July 11-15th, 2007 and this cottage was absolutely beautiful! The decor was stunning. It was so peaceful and serene, we didn't want to leave. Nothing beats sitting out on the deck at night in the jacuzzi listening to the sounds of the night. Anyone who rents one of the cottages of Green Valley will be thoroughly pleased. I brought my dog and he was in his glory. You will have one tired pooch when you leave there. It took 4 days after we got back for him to recoop! We couldn't have picked a better place for a get-a-way!

We stay at this lovely home every 6 months or so. It is "our vacation spot". I can't say enough about how relaxing and wonderful this place is. Once you close the gate behind you its like leaving the world behind. You are transformed to another place and time where the cares of the world don’t matter. Our yellow lab knows when we get close and gets so excited about being back at Green Valley. She loves it there as much as we do.

My boyfriend rented the Lory Cottage as a getaway for my 38th birthday. But he came home my fiancee! This was the perfect setting for him to propose--very secluded, romantic. The scenery is breathtaking. I will never forget my 38th birthday or our engagement. I cannot wait to return as husband/wife.

We loved this cottage. It's more like a house, actually. Loved that there was already dishes, dishtowels, linens, garbage bags and detergent (less to pack!). The layout of the ground is a little difficult to put together without being there. The dock with the chairs is far away from Lory cottage, and the two other cabins are pretty far away from Lory. The paddle boat dock is on the opposite side of the pond than the cottage. The only thing that was weird about the house was the turning staircase.... it was difficult to navigate a large suitcase up the steps.
It was truly heaven.

Cute & Cozy well equipped cottage with Hot Tub on deck under a roof, 2 quaint bedrooms with a jack & jill bath. Beautiful grounds surround the cottage and there is a well stocked lake with Bass & bluegil very secluded property. Our dog loved the gounds lots of things to explore and room to run.
