Great weekend accommodations in Abingdon

5 of 5
Submitted: March 11, 2013 Stayed: March 2013
At the Park Street Guest House, every detail has been thought of, down to the mini-flashlight attached to the key ring for the front door! Every necessity is provided, and the house is beautifully decorated and appointed. The distance to town is perfect. Each day we walked one block to Main St. and enjoyed browsing in the stores and seeing the beautiful historic buildings in downtown Abingdon. We walked the Creeper Trail, as well, and enjoyed the first beautiful weekend of the spring. We will definitely be back to enjoy this lovely guest house and the hospitality of our hostess.

This is a great find. A beatiful, large, well-equipped home away from home. The location is great for town, the theaters, and the Creeper Trail. We loved staying here and will return. We would go back to Abingdon to stay here.

Fabulous Find

We wanted to visit with friends from Nashville and we live close to West Virginia. This cottage in Abingdon was the perfect location, perfect site and perfect cottage for two adult couples. The location next to bike rental facility and within walking distance of all attractions is perfect. The screened in porch with bubbling fountain in landscaped garden is a quiet retreat after hiking the Virginia Creeper trail (also within walking distance). The Barter Theater is a must for evening entertainment.
This cottage is immaculate and the owner was available for all questions and assistance. We would stay again in a heart beat.

Owner's Response: Abingdon is the perfect halfway point for meeting friends and family and you certainly had the perfect weather for your golf game and other activities. I designed the Guest House for a measure of privacy and also comfortable gathering and conversation. Thanks for this great review and please come see us again soon. Best regards, Janet

Southern hospitality, and then some!

This cottage is well constructed, and beautifully furnished. The location is ideal for exploring southwest Virginia, with sojourns into North Carolina and West Virginia easily possible. We came specifically to visit some venues on The Crooked Road. It serves as a great base location for these adventures. We visited with another couple who are long time best friends. A trip to the farmer's market netted a tour of a local micro winery and an alpaca farm. The hospitality of the locals is infectious. The property owner is one of the nicest ladies we have met. She provided guidance and suggestions that made the visit enjoyable for the four of us. She even loaned us folding lawn chairs to view a hoedown since we had forgotten ours. We have visited dozens of VRBO houses, but, have never had a better experience. We shall return!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for taking the time to send your endorsement. It was fun seeing you and your guests enjoy so many of the activities that make this area special. Stay safe and warm and we'll hope to see you again soon. Best regards, janet

The only way to enjoy Abingdon!

5 of 5
Submitted: August 20, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
The Park Road Guest House is fabulous! The layout is so well thought out we found ourselves taking notes in case we ever build a smallish retirement home! The location is perfect in that it's just a block or two off the main street providing the perfect combination of close and quiet. The Creeper Trail is right out the back door and Main Street is a block up the hill. Truly this is the greatest way to see Abingdon. We enjoyed all Abingdon had to offer and still took a "night off" and just stayed in - that's how wonderful the accommodations were. This place is the best in quality all around - you'll feel right at home. Janet really cares and it comes through in the experience, whether or not you take advantage of her significant local knowledge. Whatever your plans while in Abingdon, you couldn't possibly do better than this cottage.
