Week in Vermont
My wife and son and I visited in early August from the southeast US. We had a wonderful time. The mountains were beautiful and the weather a welcome, cool reprieve from the heat and humidity. While we planned to “take it easy”, long periods of idling away hours quietly reading just wasn’t in the cards. Instead, we road our bikes to Sugarbush, Warren, and Waitsfield, exploring the countryside and snapping photos, before heading back to the house. We hiked to Sunset Rock and Camel’s Hump, road mountain bikes on the ski slopes at Sugarbush, visited Ben and Jerry’s ice cream factory, and spent a day in Montreal. We ate out several times but also cooked in. The house was very spacious and well situated. It is modern, clean, and well-equipped. The kitchen is large and comfortable with nearly new appliances and a gas grill is available on the large wrap-around deck. There is a beautiful stream in the backyard and lots of wildlife. The surrounding villages are charming with plenty of places to eat and outfitters to equip you for rafting, riding, or hiking. I would recommend staying here to anyone but especially those who are active and outdoor oriented. Warning - look elsewhere if you can't get along without Walmarts or SuperTargets, without fastfood chain restaurants, or cookie-cutter shopping malls.
We are already trying to figure out how to manage another visit.
