Mariposa House Rental Photos and Description

house, 1 bedroom+loft, 1 bath, sleeps 6

Yosemite Ranch offers a unique opportunity to experience dome home living on our secluded 60 acre horse and cattle ranch located on a private gated road. The Yosemite Dome Home is just a short drive down all weather highway 140 to the wild & scenic Merced River which offers swimming, fishing, and white water rafting. Highway 140 continues on through the beautiful Merced River canyon to Yosemite's Arch Rock entrance and Yosemite Valley. We are also close to the historic gold rush town of Mariposa which offers fine dining, museums, shopping, grocery stores, etc.

The Yosemite Dome Home is located on top of an oak studded hill offering scenic views in several directions. Enjoy our small herd of miniature Irish Dexter cattle in the pastures surrounding the Dome Home. Yosemite Ranch is also home to the world reknown Flying A Ranch Arabian horse breeding program located below the Yosemite Dome Home at the main ranch headquarters.

Enter the Yosemite Dome Home and enjoy the spacious feeling created by the big pictures windows and the high domed ceiling complete with skylights. The main floor offers a master suite with a queen size bed, dresser, and two closets. The beautiful dining area looks out a large picture window to a view that goes for miles over several ridge lines. There is a large living area with comfy couches to relax on, or enjoy the satellite high definition large screen TV and DVD player. A wood burning stove and gas heater add warmth during the cooler seasons. During the hotter months enjoy the refreshing cool breeze of the evaporative cooler. The spacious kitchen includes a gas range, oven, microwave, and refrigerator/freezer. Heading upstairs, you will find the 'Slumber Party Loft' which has a private dressing room and two 'wings' each with two twin beds and dressers. Out the rear door is a fenced yard. Enjoy the sweeping vistas as you sit out at the picnic table. At night, experience the stars as you've probably never experienced them before. All necessary linens, towels, and bedding are included as well as dishes, glasses, silverware, and a coffee maker.

Total maximum occupancy of six people.

Yosemite Dome Home is owned and managed by Brad and Irene Aborn and is part of our 60 acre horse and cattle ranch. Brad's background includes flying jets and helicoptors for the U.S. Navy with five years on active duty and 20 years in the Reserves. Brad then went into civilian aviation and has worked for such companies as L.A. Airways, Martin Aviation, Downey Savings & Loan, Rockwell International, and the Boeing Company. After moving to Mariposa County, he ran for public office and was elected to a four year term as a Mariposa County Supervisor. Irene Aborn got her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and worked in the Banking industry after graduating from college. After a few years, she decided to pursue her dream of raising arabian horses and together Brad and Irene started Flying A Ranch Arabian Horses which has garnered world wide recognition. We have now been involved with breeding arabian horses for close to 30 years and have exported our horses around the globe.

Irene Aborn purchased this house in 2003

Yosemite has always been one of our favorite places and we were married in 1982 in the Yosemite Chapel in Yosemite valley. In 2003 we finally took the plunge and bought our dream ranch near Yosemite in beautiful Midpines. We chose the Midpines area for it's proximity to Yosemite and the Merced River while still being a convenient drive to the beautiful historic town of Mariposa and access to fine dining, shopping, etc. When we bought the ranch, the Yosemite Dome Home was the only structure on the property. Our family of five lived in the Dome Home for three years while our new ranch home was built. We really loved the time we spent living in the Dome Home and felt that others should have the opportunity to enjoy it also.

The Yosemite Dome Home is very private and secluded. The Dome Home is located on a private, gated road where you can enjoy peace and quiet. A small herd of miniature Irish Dexter cattle roam the pastures surrounding the Dome Home. Wild turkeys and white tail deer are very commonly seen on the ranch. You may also see foxes, coyotes, bobcats, jack rabbits, and many species of birds. Guests are welcome to take a tour of the horse ranch as well.

AMAZING 2 WEEK GETAWAY ON A HORSE RANCH WITH A VIEW!

  • 5 of 5
This was one of the most peaceful vacations we have ever had. My husband and I loved the open feel of the dome house, which made it feel much bigger than it really was. It was warm and cozy when the weather was cold, and it even had a dog yard for our puppy. What a nice way to spend the Holidays... away from everything, yet the wireless let us check the internet when we needed to.

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed two nights, 4/10&11. The house is roomy, well outfitted, clean and has a gorgeous view over several mountain ridges. From here to Yosemite it is a spectacular drive up the Merced River canyon. And only 7 miles to Mariposa below. Very convenient. The owners are very helpful. Wildlife is abundant, especially turkeys, deer and a variety of birds. Wild flowers were in bloom and covered the ground like a carpet. There are horses and cows on the large property. I had wanted to get a close look at a geodesic dome and this one is a classic. But I will return for the views and quiet comfortable ambiance. This would be ideal for a family or group that wants to explore Yosemite Valley. Highly recommended.

DOME HOUSE IN MIDPINES NEAR YOSEMITE

  • 5 of 5
I stayed at the dome house Oct. 6 and 7, 2012. The house was very charming and clean and the owners were helpful answering questions. The house was what I thought it was. I had a nice master bedroom and a living dining room and upstairs there were 4 more beds. The bathroom was adequate and the kitchen had everything I needed. The view of the mountains from the house was spectacular! Yes, I will probably go there again and will definitely recommend it to friends.
