My husband Jim and I had the best time in Gold Canyon. The weather was perfect, as were the sunset views from the decks at Mari's beautiful home. This was our first visit to Arizonia, we had a great time, Mari's home is in the perfect, quite, and beautiful location.
it was orange and lemon season, we picked bags of "free" oranges and lemons - mmmmmmm fresh squeezed Orange juice every morning - even our marguerites were made with fresh lemons.
We had a new adventure every day:
Scots dale - great art festival.
Tuscan - visited the Bio Sphere at Arizona University.
Sedona and the Grand Canyon - we took the Grand Canyon Tour which we highly recommend. Our tour was on a small luxury 10 passenger bus, and our guide "Chris" was awesome. He picked us up from our hotel in Sedona at 7:15 am and we returned at 6 pm. We highly recommend "The Grand Canyon Deluxe Tours" through Www.sedonaactivitycenter.com and ask for Chris as your guide, he was an awesome guide and even treated us to lunch. What a guy!
We drove to Globe - the drive was so beautiful, and the "retro" town had great shopping - avoid going on Monday as the stores are closed.
The Masa Swap Meet was interesting - huge, and if they don't have it - trust me you don't need it.
Played bingo and they served beer and margaritas - how fun is that!
Drove through the Superstition Mountains - what a view, visited the museum, so much mining information.
We had such a wonderful time this year that we just reserved Mari's home for next year. Excited!

We enjoyed the quiet, peaceful, relaxing atmosphere both in the home and the patio areas as well as the entire "neighborhood". Property manager was extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed many miles of driving and the typical attractions in the brochures - visitors center was very helpful!
Wow! We had a family wedding and needed a place of our own, we have been visiting Gold Canyon for the last 10 years. I feel blessed that we got to stay in this beautiful place! Desert Moon is so charming, from the minute we walked in, the furnishings are lovely, the art work is great, the attention to details is impressive , no stone left unturned! We did not cook there but the kitchen is fully stocked with any thing you might think you need. The views and sunset are vast and has to be one of the best in the Canyon! Thank You for sharing your wonderful place. Hay and Sherry
From the lovely southwest furnishings & art to the spectacular views of the Mts. & valley, Desert Moon was a treat.
The home was well appointed & met our every need. Mari made us feel very welcomed with her emails. We will miss enjoying our morning coffee & evening drinks on one of the beautiful patios surrounding the home.
I spent last Christmas at Mari's lovely "Desert Moon." I found the location perfect for my favorite activities. Hiking trails are only minutes away...the Cloudview trailhead into the Superstition Wilderness is an easy bicycle ride. Here you can take an easy hike to see the petroglyphs, or make the more difficult climb to the Superstition Ridgeline trail, either hike rewarding you with gorgeous views. And the Peralta trailhead, with it's many spectacular trails is just a short drive. Whether you are seeking family hiking or wilderness trekking, the Superstitions have it all. Great golf courses are everywhere, and shopping is also close by. The town home itself is beautifully furnished with gorgeous views of the mountains and surrounding desert. The beautiful patio areas are the perfect spot for enjoying breakfast or a glass of wine in the evening looking over the lights of the valley. Mari was great to work with and attentive to our needs, wanting us to have the best experience possible. I highly recommend this beautiful property...I will definitely be going back.
From the moment we arrived, we realized our expectations were exceeded by this absolutely beautiful well appointed and maintained home. From the wonderful decor and art work chosen by Mari, to the well stocked dishware and large screen TV and bedroom TV’s....not to mention the lounge deck chairs and umbrella and table chairs available outside. We were visited by Roadrunners, rabbits and quail and doves. Breathtaking views unfolded from the sunrise and sunsets from the decks overlooking the Gold Canyon area. Mari was a pleasure to work with and responded quickly to any questions we had. We met a wonderful lady who blessed us with a homemade Apple pie and you will meet Don, who will greet you and make you feel at home. This home comfortably accommodated two couples with ample space for each couple. Location, location, location.....it was easy to walk to hiking trails, shopping, restaurants, and two pubs and the Golf course. The neighbours were very friendly and offered any assistance if required. I would strongly recommend this property to friends and neighbours and Cynthia and I and our good friends can hardly wait to return.

Gold Canyon is located within 22.3 square miles of the Sonoran Desert and was inhabited by the Hohokam and Salado Indians. It is the heart of the story of the 'Lost Dutchman Mine', and is only a short drive from breathtaking Canyon Lake (boat rentals available). Excellent golf can be found at the Gold Canyon Resort, a public course, as well as the Mountain Brook Golf Club. Some of the best area hiking can be found on the Peralta Trail (hike to the petroglyphs) or in the Tonto National Forest (see the Cliff Dwellings from the 13-15th centuries). Easy highway access to downtown Phoenix/Sky Harbor Airport (40 minutes), or to Scottsdale (30 minutes). Truly an oasis in the desert!
