Hackmatack Cottage is a quaint cottage nestled on the shores of Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia just outside the well known Village of Chester.
Picture yourself relaxing on the spacious deck watching the boats and waterbirds drifting by, gone the fast pace of today's life. This cottage on Marvin's Island (accessible by a causeway) has immediate ocean access via a short lane immediately adjacent to the property, making it a perfect getaway for canoe, kayak and small boating enthusiasts. It also has it's own private mooring for larger boats. The waters in this part of the bay are protected by many small islands, most of which are uninhabited, great places for exploring and beachcombing.
If you feel the need for a slightly faster pace, the village of Chester is just a 5 minute drive offering eateries, shops, galleries and a playhouse with great entertainment.
This centrally located cottage is a 15 minute drive to the picturesque town of Mahone Bay and a bit further on is the UNESCO town of Lunenburg, home of the Bluenose (as seen on the Canadian dime!). The city of Halifax is a 45 minute drive and the airport about an hour's drive.
All you need is groceries and yourself to start relaxing and enjoying your seaside getaway. There is WIFI, Television, Radio/CD player, board games and a gas BBQ and a fully equipped kitchen.
This cottage is all about the deck, the view and the peace and quiet.
Ospreys' nest across the water from the cottage, a Great Blue Heron fishes for breakfast in front of the cottage daily and the Mink family is often spotted running along the shore. We have also seen seals come in to feed on the shoal across the way, and the duck clan cruises the island daily, stopping in to feed in the rocks on the shore.
This is a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy the delightful people and places you will encounter during your stay.
Sorry , no pets.
