We work very hard to make The Cottage a magical oasis just for you. After all, this mid-century cottage was built by my grandfather!
When you open the gate you'll discover an AMAZING private backyard. You'll hear a waterfall splashing next to a hot tub that's awaiting you & your favorite beverage. You'll feel the warmth of a fire pit (that uses real wood) to snuggle up & roast a s'more or two or three... Take a midday snooze on the hammock tucked in a small grove of redwoods. Rekindle that child within with a game of Ping-Pong or horseshoes.
Wanna come inside?
The interior is decorated in a fun yet relaxed retro style. The living room has a 'kick back & relax' feel with original wood walls, a wood burning stove, Foosball, lots of games & books to keep you entertained and of course many personalized touches throughout.
The updated kitchen is fully loaded - just bring the food!
Slip into the king size bed in the master bedroom and... RELAX. The bedroom has views of the redwoods & its own private bathroom. The second bedroom has a king size bed & decorated in a lighthearted style with original artwork & views of our garden. A second full bathroom is just down the hall.
The deck overlooks 70 year old apple trees (that were planted by my great grandmother!) & the iconic redwoods. You'll hear chickens crowing in the distance and even an occasional wild turkey! I guarantee if you sit in our rocking chairs with your favorite beverage, you'll notice your worries melt away...
Whether it’s outdoor solitude that you desire or a little good old fashioned fun – you are sure to find it at The Cottage. Give yourself a reboot in our neck of the woods!

I grew up in Loma Mar and graduated from Pescadero High with 16 in my class! I'm a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and worked as an actor for almost 6 years in Los Angeles. But I started to experience withdrawals from not being around the redwoods and had to come back ;-)
I currently work in health care with the elder population and run The Cottage with my parents!
The Cottage was built by my grandfather in 1946. The home was a weekend getaway for my grandparents. My family goes back many generations in the Loma Mar area. Come see why Loma Mar is a very special place...at The Cottage!
There aren’t too many places left wherein less than an hour’s drive from the city, you are embraced by massive redwood trees, birds, banana slugs, running water and the stars in the night sky. In a time where it’s becoming more and more difficult to keep up with our busy lives, The Cottage offers a much needed retreat to de-stress and rejuvenate your soul - all surrounded by the pace of nature. Our wish is that guests will experience the tranquility and uniqueness The Cottage and Loma Mar has to give.
Oh my gosh, I don't even know where to begin! My husband and I and another couple stayed here for only 2 nights (wish we'd stayed longer) to celebrate my 40th birthday. My friend and I were running a 50K close by, so we found this lovely cottage that looked perfect for the 4 of us. The Cottage exceeded our expectations! As soon as we walked in, we fell in love. It is bright, clean, and comfortable. In January, it was decorated with winter themed pillows and other decorations, including twinkle lights outside. Now, that's personal! Amy communicated very well and really made us feel at home. The Cottage has so many personal touches to make you feel pampered. There was a welcome basket waiting for us when we arrived, the fire pit had wood AND newspaper in it ready to be lit, and the hot tub was ready to go! There were shampoo and soap dispensers in the bathrooms, plus hair dryers and plenty of towels. There were board games, books, foosball, ping pong, horseshoes, and many other games and activities to enjoy at your leisure. They thought of everything and didn't cut any corners on this place. The front porch was relaxing and the back porch was amazing! We spent both nights out in the hot tub (REALLY nice after that 50K) enjoying the sound of the waterfall and a croaking frog. The kitchen was well-appointed for the most part. My husband loves to cook, so he and my friend's husband cooked dinner for us both nights. The only thing they said they wish they had were a few basic spices, but I'm sure if we'd have just asked, Amy would have brought us what we needed (her house is right behind the cottage). They even used the grill for burgers one night. This is an old family home that has been completely remodeled beautifully, but they kept the charm and a few items from it's former glory, such as some artwork, a quilt, and an old telephone. Many of the photos on the wall were taken by Amy herself. The beds were comfortable and there were even robes for use in the closet! There were little signs and labels to tell a little bit about the history (and let us know where things were), which was really neat. We also didn't realize how close we were to the coast! Hwy. 1 is super close, so if you want to sightsee, it's a great place to be. We will definitely be back! This is a great getaway, and it is definitely better than any description or photos will show. Thank you so much for sharing this with us, Amy! 5+ stars!
The cottage is lovely and well-appointed with everything you can think of. Amy was responsive to our requests and questions and was always pleasant and helpful. It was a perfect location for a get-together with old friends. We enjoyed the rockers on the deck, the hot tub, cooking in the well-appointed kitchen, grilling fresh fish outside, fires in the fire ring after supper, and fires in the living room fire place on chilly evenings. (We also enjoyed local wines during many of these activities!) Spent one day going to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, another exploring nearby beaches and picking up fresh fish in Half Moon Bay. The last day we took a couple of nearby hikes through the red woods and then returned to the cottage to laze around. I have particularly fond memories of reading a book in the hammock under the redwoods. I highly recommend this vacation property. It's a great get away just an hour from San Jose.
Compared to the photos and descriptions, the Cottage is possibly understated! Adorable, neat as a pin, wonderful attention to detail and well-appointed. The term "gracious living" comes to mind. We loved our stay here, and really appreciated how great the kitchen was. Everything we reached for (utensils, waffle maker, griddle, cutlery) was there, and the little notes and descriptions were a highlight. Thanks for the welcome basket; we mowed through several of the treats on our first evening while sitting on the front porch listening to the birds.
We had a wonderful time, and will definitely be back! Thanks Amy, Sharon and Irv!
What an incredible place. Totally exceeded expectations. Every touch was personal and welcoming. So much so that I had to keep reminding myself that I didn't actually know the owners. The place was beautiful, well appointed, decorating with charm and taste and very gracious. Generous treats at every turn. We hope to return again and again.
I have stayed in a lot of VRBO places all around the US and Caribbean and The Cottage experience was THE BEST! Amy goes above and beyond to accommodate her guests - she literally thinks of everything. The house is immaculate, stocked with everything you could want or need. The decor is cute and the outdoor area is awesome. So much to do - ping pong, horseshoes, bbqing, fire pit, hot tub, hiking, all on or from the property. I am picky, and I was so pleased. We kept noticing new things throughout our weekend stay, the herbs to cook with, the games, and on and on. Thank you Amy!
Charming, magical, close to nature...hidden gem in Pescadero! Amy's rental was the perfect place for my family....we visited the goat farm, Half Moon Bay, downtown Pescadero, the beach...stayed in the beautiful redwoods but only 5-10 minutes from the beach - the best of both worlds! Wish we could have stayed more than 2 nights!!!
Not a thing to bring with you, the cottage is FULLY stocked! My family will return again and again :-)
Enjoy many hiking trials, parks or take a beautiful 15 minute leisurely drive out to the Pacific Ocean. Cruise along the coast, past windswept beaches and majestic 30-foot bluffs, through quaint coastal towns, all while enjoying some of the most mesmerizing scenery in the country.
