Big Sur Craftsman Cabin w/Sauna

My two adult children and I spent three nights in this cabin while exploring the Big Sur coast. It was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The giant oak tree outside the front windows made it seem like we were living in a treehouse. I would highly recommend this cabin as a convenient place to stay while playing in the Big Sur area. If I have a chance, I will come back!

My husband and I recently returned from a stay at the cabin. The trip up to the cabin and the scenery in the area is like nothing we've ever experienced. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The cabin is well built and has some unique touches. It also has great views. We didn't get a chance to use the sauna, although it looked awesome. We did use the outdoor tub, which was great with the sun shining down on you. Even though the owners house is on the property, we felt very secluded. The cabin is in an awesome location once you get off the mountain, which is an experience of it's own. The location is perfect. You are only a few miles from Point Lobos, which is a must see. We stopped at the grocery on the way in, ate breakfast at the cabin and packed a picnic lunch to take with us every day. This worked out great. Even though the cabin is beautiful within itself, the area surrounding it, is amazing. You won't be diappointed. If you are up for an adventure, then this is the place for you. Our only regret is that we live so far away from here that we may not may be back to visit for many years. Great place! (fyi, cell service doesn't exist at the cabin or along a lot of the coast, however they have wifi at the cabin, which worked fine for us)

My husband and I were looking for a place near Big Sur for a couple days of hiking and relaxation, and luckily found Monica and Joel's cabin. The road is was fine, and their directions were perfect. They were both warm and inviting, but we had complete privacy in the cottage. We took two hikes while there, the Soberanes Canyon Trail, north of the cabin near Soberanes Point off Hwy 1, and the other south in Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, the hike to the falls. Both were great, and the scenery was magnificent. Stopped at Pt. Lobos on our way back to the bay area. Not to be missed.

The cabin was just as described, perhaps even better. We weren't sure about the bedroom 'nook', accessibly only by outdoor stairs, but we ended up loving it. The double bed felt more like a queen and was incredibly comfortable. Having the sun wake us was a real bonus. Their new sauna is beautifully constructed and incredibly relaxing. We recommend it highly. Light the woodburning stove, wait about 15-20 minutes to get the room good and warm, then add water and yourselves. Used it four times in two days! The outdoor (single) tub was great as well. The kitchen was adequately outfitted - no microwave, but the basics were there. It rained and hailed on our last day, but with fresh coffee, warm blankets and good books, we were more than comfortable waiting out the storm. Thanks, Monica and Joel, for a terrific two days! We will be back.
