Nearest Beach: beach at 1 Miles
Easy access right across a quiet street to Tawas Lake, a large all-sports lake with a mostly undeveloped shoreline. Enjoy great fishing, waterfowl viewing/hunting, or just adventuring out in my rowboat. Wild rice still grows on some of Tawas Lake – this is definitely a special place compared to many overused northern lakes because of its beauty, natural character, and abundance of fish and wildlife. You or the kids can swim or wade across the street or at a nearby city owned vacant waterfront lot, but the best swimming is only a mile away at the great East Tawas waterfront park. The park has a long and wide sandy beach with a huge dock where you can take a long walk, fish, or just view all the docked yachts. The main street of East Tawas ends at the waterfront park and is lined with antique stores, casual or fine dining establishments, a classic movie theatre, and a variety of other shops. The East Tawas/Tawas City area spanning Tawas Bay is the perfect size for a vacation area.

Notes: Open All Yeat! Pets are welcome. Nearby Tawas Point State Park juts into Lake Huron with another super beach, historic lighthouse, and an extensive hiking area at the end of the point. Tawas Point is a nationally known bird watching area year-round, with even more to see during spring and fall migrations. The Huron National Forest, the famous Ausable River, Tuttle wildlife refuge, Lumberman’s Monument, and many lakes are all within a short drive from the house. See the glory of spring, migrating birds and very low rates. A Northwoods summer is usually warm without being too hot, I only rent weekly during the peak summer season (unless I’m open at the last minute). Fall colors are outstanding throughout the area. Fall also brings hunting season. There is ample public land for deer hunting nearby and Tawas Lake hosts incredible waterfowl flights. Spend a great Christmas – New Years holiday week in the North.

Further details for this vacation house rental in East Tawas, Michigan

See My Website For All My Details: See ecologyusa for lots of interior and exterior photos. Washer-dryer, cable TV, DVD, fireplace, row boat, microwave, fully equipped kitchen, fully remodeled. Great view into my 5 lots of woods at back and sides. There is a fire pit for campfires and a grill for cookouts. Nice neighborhood for you to walk or the kids to ride their bikes or skate on paved but low-traffic roads. Tawas Lake across the street is a great fishing lake with good fishing an easy row away. There are two great beaches in town, one at the famous City Dock and park at Lake Huron and another at Tawas Point State Park. The Huron National Forest is nearby with the Lumberman's monument, the AuSable River, and lots of open space. Tawas Lake has a mostly undeveloped shoreline and is really a beautiful spot during all seasons. The fall waterfowl migration to the wild rice beds in part of the lake are fantastic.

Guest Comments: 'We had a wonderful weekend at your cottage. Everything was very clean and roomy. In fact, we spent most of our time in the room at the back just relaxing and talking.' C.G. 'Thank you for the opportunity to rent your place in East Tawas. My son became an avid fisherman, with your home conveniently located, he went fishing daily on Tawas Lake, off the pier in town and on the AuSable River. We saw our first Bald Eagle with my husband's telescope across Tawas Lake, along with many Sandhill Cranes flying in every evening, very exciting! The sunsets where beautiful on Tawas Lake. There were Osprey nesting at Tuttle Marsh, not to mention all the birds at Tawas State Park. Thank you also for allowing us to spend an extra day. We may be repeat customers as we love the location and the amenities in your home.' M.D. Hi, we just got back and wanted to let you know that we really liked it and will take it again next year, same weekend. L.F.

More Guest Comments: 'Well, we are home from a wonderful week at your cottage/cabin. I expected good, we got FABULOUS - and I want to thank you! The house is adorable - not so important to a man, most likely, but to a woman who must avoid daylight and so spends her days inside, it was very important. It is surprising how a small cottage can feel so big also!! But even better than cute and spacious, the house was spotless!! I used to own a cleaning service and I was totally impressed with how clean Mz. Kirby keeps the house! It was such a joy!' E.T. 'Everything was great! Your place is very nice, well stocked kitchen and clean!!' D.Y. 'We had a great time. Not knowing exactly what to expect we were very pleased to find a spacious, clean, comfortable and well-stocked home. The proximity of your place is so convenient yet off the beaten path. I'm hoping to come again and next time will try to rustle up a kayak to borrow for exploring some more around Tawas Lake.' C.W.

Golf: There are several golf courses within a reasonable driving distance. The Tawas course is just a few miles away across the lake. It is a great golf course.

Our great vacation in East Tawas

SF & AE Livonia, MI, USA
Review Submitted: September 5, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
My husband and I spend a wonderful week at this beautiful East Tawas home. I could not find anything to complain about. The back family room facing the woods was all windows and it was amazing how all the windows and blinds functioned perfectly. There were no holes in screens to let in any bugs. It was nice to get up in the morning and open all the blinds and windows to let in the wonderful up north air. Everything seemed to be recently refurbished and in excellent condition. The woodsy surrounding lots made it feel like we were in a cabin in the woods. The wild rice growing in beautiful Tawas Lake across the street was something I had never seen before. With the house right in Downtown East Tawas, the pier and the lake were a short trip away. I would recommend this property to anyone who wants to get away up north and have all the ammenities of home. We even got in a couple of campfires. We hope to be able to return next summer.

Fishin' & relaxin'

M.T.Nesters Michigan
Review Submitted: June 25, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
The cottage is just as described - in fact - better! The rooms were clean and spacious. The kitchen was very nicely stocked with cooking utensils, glassware, plates, etc. The applicances were spotless! The stove looked like it belonged on the Food Network!!! Not too fancy, but shiny and new looking.
Fishing in Tawas Lake was great... We walked across the street and dropped our lines in the lake. We are novices, but still managed to catch a few.
Downtown East Tawas was just a couple of minutes away (an easy bike ride!) as was the marina on Lake Huron and the big park. No luck fishing, but that's why its called fishin' and not catchin'... Lots of places to eat, too...
Finally, our dog just loved it... Plus we enjoyed bringing her fishing with us.
We would recommend this property to friends and family...

Perfect Spot for a relaxing vacation!

Review Submitted: September 12, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
This was a big surprise for a vacation home! We felt like we were at home. We had all the supplies that we needed available to us from the time we walked in the front door. The property was better than described! We had plenty of room! The property was very clean and well maintained. The communication with the owner was excellent! We have told everyone about this property and plan to visit again.
