|Minimum Stay||2 - 7 nights|
Originally built as a year round hunting and fishing compound, Alderbrook Lodge provides all the comforts of home. Nestled between mountains and streams, this charming 100 acre retreat, includes
it's own hiking mountain and overlooks a private ten acre stocked pond. Perfect for those who love peace and quiet. The Lodge is secluded without being inconveniently remote. It is only a few minutes drive to either Bolton Landing or Lake George. The Lodge hosts 8 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths and the guesthouse, called the 'Chalet', is only a stone's throw away. The Chalet has 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. Alderbrook Lodge is an ideal choice for large groups or family reunions.
The Lodge - Guests are welcomed by a large center stone fireplace, which divides the Great Room into four areas. The walls are a warm knotty pine with matching beamed ceilings. A twelve point deer, in seasonal attire, oversees the activities in both living and dining areas.
The Kitchen - The kitchen is fully-equipped for large groups. Large cooking utensils, a Garland Stove with double ovens, a dishwasher, microwave, and two refrigerators all aid in effortless entertaining. Truly, a gourmet's delight!
The Dining Area - A large round table is next to an eating counter, which seats eleven. Dining on the porch is also available.
The Porch - The large wrap-around porch is a favorite gathering place. A perfect spot for games, meals, or just socializing. In any season, the VIEW of the mountains and the water is both comforting and relaxing!
Upstairs - A wide wood and bark stairway leads to Eight Bedrooms on the second floor. There are two full baths and one half bath. Sheets and towels are provided at an extra cost. A washer and dryer are on the first floor. The maximum number of guests is 16, including children.
Guest Chalet - At an additional cost, a three bedroom, two bath chalet can be rented for larger groups. Maximum for the Chalet is 6 guests, making the total for both properties. (22 people)
Barn - Available for horses.
Alderbrook Lodge offers a wide variety of winter activities. Guests can enjoy the warmth of a blazing bonfire and a hot drink, as they ice skate, snowshoe or ice fish on the lake. Others delight in sleigh riding, tobogganing, cross-country skiing or snowmobiling on groomed, scenic trails. Alpine skiers can dance through the moguls at West Mt, Hickory Hill or Gore Mt. Come and watch the snowflakes fly, and relax in our undiscovered Winter Wonderland.
We have always loved the Adirondacks and feel blessed that we found this little piece of paradise. We have 4 married children and 14 grandchildren. The 'Lodge' is a perfect gathering place for the children and the 'Chalet' is a perfect 'get away' for Gigi and Papa. It is our pleasure to share our home with friends from HomeAway.
Owner/Manager purchased this lodge in 2001
After years of looking, we found Alderbrook Lodge. It is totally unique and offered us the space that we needed for both family and friends. It is rare to find a private,100 acre property, that is so close to Lake George, yet totally private. The lake is beautiful and the frosting on the cake!
We have made every effort to make our family and friends comfortable from the minute they walk through the door. The furniture is comfortable and the rooms are nicely decorated, but geared for children and large family gatherings. Alderbrook Lodge is the perfect place for a family reunion.
We were there last weekend!! We were a family of 7. Until now, my children and my friends are still talking about going back. My 3 girls thought that it would be nice to stay there forever! They had their first kayaking and boating experience there and they LOVED it! We had total privacy and so much freedom to do anything we want to do with the water, in and out of the house. My husband and his friends (husbands of my female friends ) went biking around the area. We didn't even have to go elsewhere to have fun because it was already so much fun being in Alderbrook Lodge. We liked the fact that we had the water and the boats to ourselves and we didn't have to worry about paying it by the hour. The bonfires and our night swims were something we haven't done in other places we've stayed in our previous vacations. Being able to commune with nature was such a relief from the stressful life we have in the city. The calmness of the water and the woods with all its different natural sounds were so contagious. We honestly didn't want to go home. The long drive from Virginia was worth it! Lynn and Ed were such gracious owners. Thank you!! again so much for sharing your property with us and contributing to another unforgettable weekend getaway. -- Jun & Jovieh (from Alexandria, VA)
Had a wonderful week at the Alderbrook Lodge with 22 family members ranging in age from 2 years old to 83 years old. We rented both homes (Lodge and Chalet) which comfortably accommodated all of us. The private lake was perfect for family members to fish, boat and swim - and was a peaceful break from the noise and crowds of Lake George. Early morning coffee each day on the porch overlooking the lake with my 83 year old mother is a memory I will always cherish. The kitchen in the Lodge was spacious and well equipped to feed our large crowd. The Lodge is only minutes from Bolton Landing's shopping and restaurants and easily accessible from the Thruway. All in all, it was a perfect family vacation and we plan to return for future vacations!
A spectacular ADK lodge that is equipt with all the ammenties of home with the charm and feel of a historic Adirondack great camp. The picturous postcard like pond was so relaxing to campfire and boat- float around which the whole family truly enjoyed. I HIGHLY recommend this ideal vacation lodge for any season. I've booked it separately with friends and now with my extended family and everyone walked away in awe. It sincerely has the WOW factor that's guaranteed to please everyone. Certainly plan to return for years to come!
We rented this lodge for a family birthday weekend. It was perfect for our needs, the owners were very accommodating. It was accurately described, with great directions. We enjoyed the fireplace, sledding hill, frozen pond and industrial oven/stove. Great time had by all.
I just organized a wonderful women's retreat here and cannot tell you how wonderful it was!!! The pictures do not do it justice!!! It's breathtaking! Nine women attended and next year there WILL be more. One women returned to burnt hills (40 mins south) on Saturday night for her children's football game and drove back bc she was having so much fun for the rest of the weekend.
Arrived on Friday late afternoon to a bonfire pit full and ready for fire...super clean and inviting...unpacked and took a lap around the lake on paddle boat, huge bonfire that all didn't want to retire from Friday night, woke sat am and hiked up small hill out back, lunch on the dock and then four of us went up the road to Adirondack adventure to zip line and conquer fears for two hours, returned to afternoon bonfire before the rain came in....I was actually out in a kayak when the skies let loose and we retired inside where the ladies relaxing inside had already started a nice fire in the huge family room fireplace.
Commercial kitchen with everything you need! Had a nice dinner and played games and talked all night. Woke Sunday and didn't want to leave!
Lingered with a relaxing breakfast overlooking the lake from the wrap around inside porch.
Many ladies inquired about family events and wanted info for future vacations.
We all had our own rooms, but two ladies opted to bunk together to chat all nigh. :-)
Next year there will be more to come so I imagine we will fill it up!!! There is sooo much room here!
Has everything for families! We all have children although this was a moms get away...bring them!
Would go back with the whole family and we travel with three kids under nine all over. Italy, Dominican republic, Puerto Rico, Florida etc....I'm hard to please and this place is an adirondack paradise!
We had three generations and aa wide range of athletic abilities and interests...we logged hundreds of hours on and in the lake....greased watermelon contest, kayak races, goldoliering on a surfboard, swimming across the lake. We never went to restaurants--ate in and were happy. The house is fine---the lake and grounds are beyond sublime. We were referred by friends... weare planning another trip!!
You won't be sorry...
Our large family-toddlers to seniors-thoroughly enjoyed our time at Adlerbrook Lodge last summer. We rented both the Lodge and the Chalet. They were both comfortable and spacious. The Lodge kitchen where we did all our cooking, is wonderful, with its professional stove, two refrigerators, dishwasher and enough dishes and pots to service an army! We enjoyed swimming, campfires and star-gazing on the beach, paddling in the paddleboat and just hanging out on the beach and in the screened-in porch, reading. The lake is small enough for pre-teens to get the kayaks we brought and explore on their own. Our six-year-old fisherman would daily kayak out to the swim float and fish. For the adventurous, the in-the- trees Adirondack Extreme ropes course is just down Hendricks Road. Though the village of Bolton Landing is handy enough for grocery shopping, and Lake George Village is only about 30-45 minutes away, Alderbrook Lodge is very private and quiet. The listings and directions were accurate, and our hosts, accomodating. In our week there, weather didn't cooperate as much as we would have liked, and we didn't get to do a fraction of what's possible. We'll be back!
