Spacious 3 bedroom villa leading onto scenic golf course, situated in Jolly Harbour, with all its amenities of 2 glorious beaches, golf course, marina, tennis, restaurants, bars & good shopping including a top class supermarket. The villa is very private and not overlooked. The small pool set in the pretty garden full of palms is ideal for romantic moonlit dips or cooling off after a game of golf. The villa is wheelchair friendly with a large master bedroom on the ground floor with a shower room easily accesible and a ramp to pool. The house is furnished very elegantly with top class linens, and attractive four poster beds.
Maid service is provided twice a week, and a welcome package is included.
Arrived in Antigua 1n 1967 having sailed here, fell in love with the island, and ran a business here for 39 years. This house was bought as a retirement pension, and has been long term let only, but has just been upgraded for short term, so that our families can come and stay. My husband and I are very keen sailors, horse people and dog lovers, having 5 assorted ones! We live in Falmouth.
owner/property manager purchased this villa in 2008
Jolly Harbour is such a good location with so many amenities, easy to get to, and secure.
The house is vry cool with the Trade winds blowing across the Golf Course, it is one of the few houses with off road parking and with such a private garden and pool.
We stayed at Janie's villa for Spring Break 2013- 4 adults and 3 children. Plenty of room and a bed for all (Janie provided a rollaway bed for our 3 year old). The villa had everything we needed - washer/dryer (with plenty of detergent), WiFi, fully equipped kitchen, Gas BBQ grill. All the beds had mosquito nets (a necessity in Antigua). Janie even provided us with a fifth of local Anitguan rum upon our arrival.
The villa is part of a bigger complex, community, Jolly Harbour, which is nearly fully self contained, including a full supermarket, liquor store, pharmacy, restaurant/bar (the Crow's Nest - which also had a huge swimming pool). We visisted several beaches on the island but in our opinion the best one was the beach within Jolly Harbour (there are actually 2 beaches - North and South beach, but I can't remember which one it was - the one just past the Crows Nest). Also we were able to embark on two activities/excursions without even leaving Jolly Harbor megaplex- the Wadidli Cats circumnavigation cruise and a half-day deep sea fishing trip (caught a King Mackerel and prepared it in the villa).
The villa is also far enough away from St. Johns so that it provided a good degree of privacy, and is also pretty close to the great southern beaches on the island and the Antiguan Rainforest Canopy Tour (ziplining) which we also did.
This was a great value for our family and was a very comfotable and enjoyable and a great value for a family of seven. We will definitely seek to stay at Janie's villa if we make it back to Antigua.
Now that you've found Golden Palm Villa there is no need to look any further, you've found the best place to stay in Antigua. I recently returned from my first visit to this island. We had a great time and stayed for the entire month of February 2013. Golden Palm Villa is an absolute delight. The villa is even better than its photos. The owner has a real flair for decorating and everything is furnished to a high standard. She is very welcoming and as she lives in Antigua she is there to answer any questions which is much nicer than dealing with an agent. The appliances are first rate and it was great fun to cook with friends in the kitchen then dine outdoors. We had some friends and family members visit from the USA and the villa really lends itself to entertaining and the en-suite bedrooms ensure all have privacy, too. Don't forget your I-pod as the docking station and speakers are very good. Wi-fi made sure my husband could keep in touch with his office in London. The beds are very comfortable, the netting very cosy and the high-thread-count 100% cotton sheets are ironed in keeping with a top hotel. The back of the villa faces east and sunrise over the golf course is worth getting up early for. I found this position to be much preferable to other places that face west; they are much too hot in the afternoon. After returning from a long day at the beach we really enjoyed the plunge pool in the lush garden. We were very pleased with the location within Jolly Harbour Marina and enjoyed the nearby beaches, large swimming pool and restaurants - many within walking distance. We tend to stay in hotels when we travel and this was the first time we rented a villa. I am very pleased to recommend Golden Palm Villa to other holidaymakers.
Great vacation villa for our friends and us. Owner, Janie, could not have been more helpful or more concerned that our stay be enjoyable. Villa was very comfortable and well equipped, and we especially enjoyed time around the pool. Wi-Fi and local cell service a huge plus.
There are several very nice (un-crowded) beaches within a 10 minute drive, and one within the Jolly Harbour resort. The four of us played golf at Cedar Valley , as well as Jolly Harbour, in near perfect weather.
We used several of the recommended restaurants on-site as well as many nearby, and enjoyed them all. Would return to OJ's, Sheer Rocks, Crow's Nest (for breakfast), Carmichals and Melinis.
All-in -all, a wonderful visit. I would not hesitate recommending villa to others, or booking again in the future.
We booked as a family of 5 and my father later decided to join us, so we were 6 people in total. Janie made all the arrangements to have an additional bed supplied and this incredibly helpful attitude summed up our whole holiday experience. Nothing was to much for Janie to arrange, she regularly checked up that everything was going great with our holiday and couldn't do enough to ensure we had a holiday of a lifetime.
The villa itself is stunning, the master bedroom was amazing, the four poster bed one of the most comfortable beds we've ever had on a holiday, the second bedroom with its own four poster and spectacular views was perfect and the kids had no issues with their room at all.
The villa had everything we needed, from a smoothie maker to the wifi it was all there. Janie kindly arranged a golf cart hire for us, for us adults the walk down to the pool, shops and bars was a lovely stroll of about 15 minutes, our eldest is 19 so he drove the others all over the resort.
The restaurants were of a really high standard, on site you have two very good Italians, a really good steakhouse and we used the Crow's nest for lunch as well, off site OJ's was fantastic and only 10 minutes away in the taxi and Castaways on the beach was also really good.
After dinner we'd either go back to the villa and have a quite drink outside or go down to Dogwatch which had a couple of pool tables and a great atmosphere.
All in all I wouldn't hesitate in booking this property again and we are already looking forward to returning next year.
We stayed here as a family of four in April of 2011. The master bedroom was well laid out and the four poster bed was the simply delightful. The children chose their rooms with my daughter (6) falling in love with her own four poster bed accentuated with linens dappled with blue shells. She insisted on sleeping in her "own" bed every night ( a vacation miracle). The villa was spacious and tastefully put together. It overlooks the golf course and the garden and dip pool provided us with great moments for relaxation. By far one of our best family "get-aways". After roaming about the island it was such a pleasure to get back and settle into this quaint little spot. Very convenient location with supermarket and other solid amenities.
