Farmhouse in the Fork - a Shelter + Roost property.
The Farmhouse is located in a secluded setting in Leipers Fork, four miles from Historic Leipers Fork Village, twelve miles south of Franklin and thirty miles south of Nashville. The Natchez Trace Parkway is a little over a mile away and is perfect for hiking, biking, horseback riding and scenic drives.
Enjoy your own private retreat in a storybook setting with charm that never ends. Our beautiful home sits on forty-one secluded acres minutes from Historic Leipers Fork Village. This home is ideal for a romantic getaway, weekend with friends, escape for the whole family, artist / writer's retreat, special events and corporate retreats. Whatever that it may be that you are looking for, you'll most likely find it here.
Our five year old son, Wyatt loves to wake up early to see the family of river otters, catch frogs or go fishing in the pond, eat breakfast on the front porch, make s'mores over the crackling fire in the outdoor fireplace and play countless games of Uno and pool in the game room. My husband, Michael instantly fell in love with the beautiful views and the most amazing lightning bugs we have ever seen - hundreds that appear to be dancing all around you. I love waking up with a cup of tea on the front porch or in the sunroom and watching the catfish jump in the lake, lazy afternoons in the hammock - dozing off while reading a good book, eating dinner together outside on the back deck and listening to the banjo strum sound that the Green Frogs make.
Our home features an open living room with a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams and a hand laid fireplace built from stones off the land. The kitchen has granite countertops, a breakfast bar, stainless steel appliances and is stocked with everything you need, from a bottle opener to pots and pans, baking dishes to forks and knives. There is a game room with a pool table, television and a dartboard for endless entertainment as well as movies and board games. The sunroom and master bedroom also have televisions and DVD players. There are three spacious bedrooms in the house. The master bedroom is located on the first floor and has a king sized bed and walk-in closet. The other two rooms have queen size beds and are located on the second floor. An optional inflatable queen bed and two couches will allow for additional guests. Highchair and crib available upon request. The front porch has beautiful lake views and includes rocking chairs, a porch swing and an outdoor table and seating. There is a wood deck in the backyard with an equally beautiful view with a second hand laid fireplace built from stones off the land and a small kid's play structure. There is plenty of open space to play catch or toss the frisbee and a pond near the barn... the pictures say it all.
The Farmhouse truly has a character all it's own... a story to be told, memories to be made... a secluded retreat nestled amongst the trees with wild life aplenty. Sit back, relax and enjoy.

We believe in make believe. We love to live. We live to create. We believe family are the friends you choose. We like to think the more you push the elevator button the faster it comes. We love small towns. We still believe a handshake and a smile mean something. We prefer taking the scenic route. We laugh. We hug. We dream. We find inspiration everywhere. We collect moments. We under promise. We over deliver.

Why Sarah chose Franklin

What makes this house unique
In the beginning of 2011, we stumbled upon Leiper's Fork by pure chance, it was supposed to be a stopover, a rest stop, on our way to the next destination. It's not everyday we're moved by a person, a place, or an entire town. But we were, and we listened. We spent a year looking at more than 50 homes across Leiper's Fork and Franklin, until we finally made an offer on what would eventually become 'Farmhouse in the Fork'. Since we still lived in California, we decided to make the house available to the occasional guest or short-term renter when we weren't there. Before we knew it people started renting the Farmhouse and they kept coming back. And when their friends and families started contacting us wanting the same experience, we knew we were doing something right. Before we knew it one property turned into two, two turned into four and now Shelter + Roost offers five distinct properties to choose from. Not just any homes, but ones we've spent months and even years searching for. Every property is a reflection of us, our personality, and the places we love to stay. They're home.
With two children and a family owned baby products company as our day job, people often ask us why we don't turn things over to a property manager. The reason? We truly enjoy the relationships we make with our guests. We're not a hotel, we've opened up our homes to you, for you, to enjoy with family and friends. Besides the late nights spent answering emails while the kids sleep or the hours upon hours we spend making sure everything's perfect for our guests, there's something so fulfilling about sharing our properties with others. It's the stories we hear from them, the memories they make and the time they share together in our homes that make us smile.

Guestbook comments from the owner
We came to your beautiful city to see the women's final four and cheered them to their 9th NCAA championship. We thought that would be the highlight of our trip, but everyday kept getting better and better. The Grand Ole Opry, Music Hall of Fame, Loveless Cafe (best breakfast ever!), Puckett's, drinks at Rippy's, Where we saw Charlie Daniels just hanging out. What a delight it was to come home to the beautiful farmhouse where we relaxed and recounted the glories of our day. We spent the lst night sitting by the pond with a glass of wine wishing that it was just the beginning!
