Farmhouse in the Fork - a Shelter + Roost property.
The Farmhouse is located in a secluded setting in Leipers Fork, four miles from Historic Leipers Fork Village, twelve miles south of Franklin and thirty miles south of Nashville. The Natchez Trace Parkway is a little over a mile away and is perfect for hiking, biking, horseback riding and scenic drives.
Enjoy your own private retreat in a storybook setting with charm that never ends. Our beautiful home sits on forty-one secluded acres minutes from Historic Leipers Fork Village. This home is ideal for a romantic getaway, weekend with friends, escape for the whole family, artist / writer's retreat, special events and corporate retreats. Whatever that it may be that you are looking for, you'll most likely find it here.
Our five year old son, Wyatt loves to wake up early to see the family of river otters, catch frogs or go fishing in the pond, eat breakfast on the front porch, make s'mores over the crackling fire in the outdoor fireplace and play countless games of Uno and pool in the game room. My husband, Michael instantly fell in love with the beautiful views and the most amazing lightning bugs we have ever seen - hundreds that appear to be dancing all around you. I love waking up with a cup of tea on the front porch or in the sunroom and watching the catfish jump in the lake, lazy afternoons in the hammock - dozing off while reading a good book, eating dinner together outside on the back deck and listening to the banjo strum sound that the Green Frogs make.
Our home features an open living room with a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams and a hand laid fireplace built from stones off the land. The kitchen has granite countertops, a breakfast bar, stainless steel appliances and is stocked with everything you need, from a bottle opener to pots and pans, baking dishes to forks and knives. There is a game room with a pool table, television and a dartboard for endless entertainment as well as movies and board games. The sunroom and master bedroom also have televisions and DVD players. There are three spacious bedrooms in the house. The master bedroom is located on the first floor and has a king sized bed and walk-in closet. The other two rooms have queen size beds and are located on the second floor. An optional inflatable queen bed and two couches will allow for additional guests. Highchair and crib available upon request. The front porch has beautiful lake views and includes rocking chairs, a porch swing and an outdoor table and seating. There is a wood deck in the backyard with an equally beautiful view with a second hand laid fireplace built from stones off the land and a small kid's play structure. There is plenty of open space to play catch or toss the frisbee and a pond near the barn... the pictures say it all.
The Farmhouse truly has a character all it's own... a story to be told, memories to be made... a secluded retreat nestled amongst the trees with wild life aplenty. Sit back, relax and enjoy.

We believe in make believe. We love to live. We live to create. We believe family are the friends you choose. We like to think the more you push the elevator button the faster it comes. We love small towns. We still believe a handshake and a smile mean something. We prefer taking the scenic route. We laugh. We hug. We dream. We find inspiration everywhere. We collect moments. We under promise. We over deliver.

In the beginning of 2011, we stumbled upon Leiper's Fork by pure chance, it was supposed to be a stopover, a rest stop, on our way to the next destination. It's not everyday we're moved by a person, a place, or an entire town. But we were, and we listened. We spent a year looking at more than 50 homes across Leiper's Fork and Franklin, until we finally made an offer on what would eventually become 'Farmhouse in the Fork'. Since we still lived in California, we decided to make the house available to the occasional guest or short-term renter when we weren't there. Before we knew it people started renting the Farmhouse and they kept coming back. And when their friends and families started contacting us wanting the same experience, we knew we were doing something right. Before we knew it one property turned into two, two turned into four and now Shelter + Roost offers five distinct properties to choose from. Not just any homes, but ones we've spent months and even years searching for. Every property is a reflection of us, our personality, and the places we love to stay. They're home.
With two children and a family owned baby products company as our day job, people often ask us why we don't turn things over to a property manager. The reason? We truly enjoy the relationships we make with our guests. We're not a hotel, we've opened up our homes to you, for you, to enjoy with family and friends. Besides the late nights spent answering emails while the kids sleep or the hours upon hours we spend making sure everything's perfect for our guests, there's something so fulfilling about sharing our properties with others. It's the stories we hear from them, the memories they make and the time they share together in our homes that make us smile.

We came to your beautiful city to see the women's final four and cheered them to their 9th NCAA championship. We thought that would be the highlight of our trip, but everyday kept getting better and better. The Grand Ole Opry, Music Hall of Fame, Loveless Cafe (best breakfast ever!), Puckett's, drinks at Rippy's, Where we saw Charlie Daniels just hanging out. What a delight it was to come home to the beautiful farmhouse where we relaxed and recounted the glories of our day. We spent the lst night sitting by the pond with a glass of wine wishing that it was just the beginning!
We had a perfect stay in your beautiful home, it was so warm, comfortable and cozy. Everything was perfect and we could not have had a more enjoyable visit. The only that could have made it better is if we could have stayed longer. We hope to return in warmer weather to be able to enjoy the outdoors. Thank you again for sharing your home with us.
I proposed to my now fiancé on this scenic property and it was great! She loved the house and the scenery both on the property and the Leipers Fork area.
Recently, my husband and I stayed at Farmhouse in the Fork. We had booked the vacation rental months in advance and the countdown was on until we arrived. Sometimes when you anticipate something so badly, the end result does not live up to your expectations. Such was not the case with the Farmhouse in the Fork. We could not have been more pleased with the home and property when we arrived.
The pictures accurately reflected the home and property and it was even more beautiful than we could have imagined. Peaceful, serene, quiet! When we pulled into the driveway, two deer paused to check us out as they walked by the little barn on the property. We loved the decor and Sarah's mix of old and new in the home. I've already started our list of re-dos for our home! lol It truly felt like we were staying in someone's home. The house was cozy and had all of the modern conveniences. There had been a storm a few days before we arrived which damaged the Direct TV system; however, it did not impact our vacation and was a great excuse not to get stuck in front of the TV. Sarah was very apologetic and was wonderful in quickly responding to our emails when needed whenever we had questions.
We loved the outdoors at the Farmhouse in the Fork. Myself, I spent about 3 hours on the dock by the waterfall and pond one morning and journalled in the stillness. A great place to slowdown from life's frantic pace. We took pleasure in walking around the property too. The colours this time of year (October) were beautiful.
Because of the close proximity to Leiper's Fork, we toured the shops and had dinner at Puckett's Grocers one evening, while listening to up-and-coming singer/songwriters performing from Nashville. We spent time in Franklin too and loved the historic part of that town. Everywhere we went, people were very friendly!
Of a total of three vacation rentals we've stayed at in Tennessee, this one was by far the best! We were sad pulling out of the laneway which signalled the end of our stay. But with any luck, we plan to return to this wonderful retreat!
The property was beautiful, the house was lovely, the cleaner could have done a better job before we got there, (we found dried food on the floor and the highchair had been put away filthy and took some scrubbing to be able to put the little one in and the out door trash cans were already over full, no room for our trash), but over all the whole place was awesome. The neighbors however, do not like the fact that this place is a vacation/event rental and not a home residence. We had a very small wedding, 35 people tops, at the property and right before the ceremony ( we had a DJ that played music, however it was not loud) the neighbors started blasting noise at us...pounding hammers, loud obnoxious music and gunshots. When we went to see where all the noise was coming from, we found that they had a huge sound system set up to blare noise directly at this property. We went and explained that the ceremony/reception would be over by 9pm (it was a Sunday night), the neighbor stated that he hated that the owners of this house never lived there, just rented it for events and that they had to listen to weddings "every weekend" and have their peace and quiet disturbed all the time. While we were there, we could tell that all they could here from our music was the bass. We had the DJ turn that down so as not to disturb them any longer. If you are looking for a destination for a wedding, this place is absolutely beautiful, we got some very lovely photos. However, be prepared for the neighbors to try to ruin it for you.
This property is simply amazing! I have travelled significantly worldwide and I can't think of anywhere I have stayed that has been this special or unique. My family stayed for 4 nights and they were terribly disappointed when we had to leave. Even the beds were super comfortable. There is plenty to do in Franklin, Leiper's Fork and downtown Nashville... as well as just hanging around the house. This home is beautiful, warm and cozy. The layout allows the entire family the ability to relax and unwind together. Everything we needed was available and the home is so organized everything was easy to find! The grounds are impeccably maintained and clean. Thank you so much for sharing your home and your hospitality! I will be back!
Leipers Fork is one of those places where you feel instantly at home and don't want to leave. Stay long enough and you're bound to come across some of them who didn't: the Nashville Record Producer - now Grocer and owner of Puckett's, the Manhatten Mall Developer - now farmer, restauranteur and owner of Joe Natural's and the San Francisco Interior Design Firm Buyer - now Antique Dealer and owner of Serenite Maison.
We encourage you to explore and experience the charm and character of what is known as Leipers Fork.
