ROMANTIC WATERFRONT COTTAGE DIRECTLY ON THE BEAUTIFUL NORTH RIVER

Gloucester Cottage Rental Photos and Description

1 bedroom, 1 bath, LR sofabed, sleeps 4

Come vacation in a beautiful waterfront setting! Our cottage is located on a spacious, historic riverfront estate dating back to the 17th century. Perfect for a week on the river or just a romantic weekend, the cottage has a charming veranda with porch swing, comfortable bedroom, living room with fold-out sofa and river views, a kitchenette with dining space, and a full bath. The property features a canoe dock and river pier. Crab or fish from the dock, swim, canoe, watch for osprey, or just just relax with a good book and your favorite beverage. Located in the heart of Tidewater in an area known locally as 'land of the life worth living,' you could spend days just enjoying this lovely property. You are within minutes of some of America's finest historic sights -- Jamestown, Yorktown and Williamsburg -- as well as terrific dining, great shopping, and a wide variety of water sports. And, if you need room for more than 4 people, please consider our river house (listing 937035).

Few places are more beautiful -- or more historic -- than Gloucester County. Nestled in the heart of Tidewater Virginia, Gloucester County was once home to the Powhatan Tribe and Pocahontas, as well as notable colonial families such as George Washington's ancestors. The site of countless waterways and five broad rivers, including the North River on the banks of which 'Mill Hill' resides, Gloucester is a haven for sailing, canoeing, kayaking, and other water sports -- as well as dining on mouthwatering shellfish and other culinary delicacies. Just an hour from Richmond and 2 1/2 hours from Washington, DC, Gloucester is a great base for exploring all of the wonders of the Middle Peninsula of Virginia These include not only Gloucester's own historic courthouse circle, beautiful colonial Ware Church and Abingdon Church, and history museums, but also the charming arts community of Mathews just up Route 14 with its well-known lighthouse and sand beaches, and of course the world-renowned attractions of Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown and the College of William and Mary down Route 17 and across the York River.

We are having so much fun! Very relaxing. Today an osprey dived down and caught a nice fish! I caught a big Puppy Drum [fish]and had part of it for breakfast.

BTW, the stars were amazing!!! Have you been to Shaggin on the River in Yorktown? It was awsome. Music with the river and Allegiance ship in the background. We set up a couple of folding chairs and had a great time. It's every Thursday in the summer. We went to Oyster Point [in Newport News] Friday at City Center. Live music every Friday. From there we went to Busch Gardens. Watched the summer illumination show and fireworks. After catching that big Puppy Drum off the dock and eating, life was complete. Then stopped in Olivia's for seafood last night. Gary the owner is a super nice guy!

What a great weekend!!! Thank you!
