As four Washingtonians, three Cougars and one lone Husky!, we don't always agree on who should win...but two things we do agree on are - escaping to Maui and Kanai 'A Nalu for peace, quiet, beautiful views from our lanai and Paradise For All.

After having stayed at Kanai A Nalu every February with many of our friends and our family over the course of 12 years we realized this was OUR paradise - our home away from home. In 2012, we decided we were not going to stay anywhere else for vacation and we opted to buy one of only eight top floor oceanfront units. 402 has exceeded all of our expectations!
Location, location, location - spectacular views, comfortable living, easy access to everything, the beach, the surf, beautiful grounds, peaceful setting. It is simply paradise!
We searched for a very long time to find a condo in Maui where we would be willing to stay for 3 weeks to celebrate our 30th anniversary and we were not disappointed. This was our trip of a lifetime and our biggest worry was it would not be equal to what we saw on the internet. Well this condo was everything we had hoped for and more. Jim and Linda obviously take a lot of pride in their condo and it shows! Mahalo for sharing you paradise with us!!
The photos accurately reflect the condos appearance and amenities and it was very clean and well maintained on the inside.The property was very pretty and well maintained, look for the bananas in the trees, pool and BBQ area always clean, plenty of beach chairs and a great beach at your footsteps.The lanai offered a gorgeous view from sunrise to sunset. A lot of the time it was calm and when there was a breeze it was just lovely, absolutely nothing to complain about.
If you like a quiet location and long walks on an uncrowded beach this is a wonderful location. We went to many other beaches and although they were beautiful some were very crowded so we were always happy to relax and enjoy the peacefulness of our beach. Even our young adult kids found plenty to do on our beach. We did travel the whole island so we were really happy with the location- it gave us quick and easy access to all the coasts.
Wave Riders in Kihei for paddle board and surf lessons. Kids were surfing within the first 1/2 hour of lesson ask for Boobieshack-kids thought he was great. Air Maui for a helicopter ride you will never forget (go online to get 20% off coupon)So informative and they do a video of your ride which is really worth getting.
We did get up at 3:30 am to drive up to the summit for the sunrise-so worth it to be above the clouds.
Old Lahaina Luau was great entertainment and had a wonderful buffet

We stayed here and absolutely loved it! It is beautifully furnished with every thing you need. We had great ocean views, great pool, wonderful beaches and did everything we could do in Maui. We loved the retreat of the condo, it really is gorgeous and the kitchen is fully equipped. They even have beach chairs, towels, etc. Our favorite condo so far and the owners are so incredibly nice. My 14 year old had a blast in the ocean and every part of the trip is a cherished memory. Loved the bed!!! the tv in every room, W/D, great kitchen with everything and the Lanai!!!!! We had a great stay. The condo is beautifully maintained and and you will find almost anything you need for fun labelled in the closets. The lanai has a great view of Haleakala, Molokini, and Kahoolawe. Watching the diving boats pull out of the marina in the mornings is great sport with a cup of coffee. As an FYI you can see the sunrise over Haleakala but you can;t see the setting sun. However watching the sunset color the clouds over the Volcano is delightful. The grounds are also well maintained with a nice pool and a pleasant beach for playing in the sand and waves with kids. It can get windy in this location but you are on the leeward side of the building on the lanai so you won't notice. And thanks to it's locatoin it tends to be much sunnier than areas up towards Kaanapali. It's central locatoin makes it perfect for exploring north and south around the island with shorter access to the Volcano and the drive to Hana. There are only a small strip of condominiums on this part of the island so the neighborhood is quiet. All in all it was a delightful stay! (PS the condominium managers are the best!)
This was our first trip to Hawaii,(me my husband and three boys 7, 13, and 19)his was a great place to stay thanks Jim and Linda for sharing your beautiful condo! It was a great location close to everything, and when we returned home from a busy day we were able to spread out and relax - and not feel on top of each other. The older boys enjoyed having their space at night and watching movies in the room, and my youngest boy 7 - loved coming home to the pool. It had everything we needed for a great trip, it is a beautiful place to come home to in the evenings. I enjoyed listening to the waves crash at night, and waking up and enjoying the view from the lanai in the mornings was wonderful.
My husband and I had a wonderful, relaxing stay at this unit. We had been to Maui a number of times some years ago and were looking for a comfortable place to "veg out" in (no need to revisit the more touristy places) ; this unit more than met our needs.
(However, the location means it is easy to get to all parts of Maui if you do want to see the whole island.)
The lanai has a marvelous view of the bay and, at this time of year, the activity of the many whales who migrate to the bay.
The unit is very well equipped. The kitchen is a recent renovation and is very well supplied with equipment and utensils. The other rooms are attractively decorated and comfortable. I very much enjoyed the comfort of the king-size bed. There are many cable channels available on the wide-screen TVs. Everything was spotless and conformed to the listing description.
We enjoyed The Maalaea General Store and Leoda's (on the way to Lahaina) for lunch. We were disappointed in The Waterfront for dinner.
Within 15 minutes of picking up your luggage you can be settling into your vacation at 402 Kanai A Nalu. Conveniently located yet peaceful and quiet there is much to do within walking distance - the aquarium, Buzz's Wharf for all ocean excurions, shopping and great restaurants. Other great experiences are also a close drive away - 3-golf courses within 10 minutes; 15 minutes to Kahului; 10 minutes to Kihei and another 5 to Wailea; 20 minutes to Lahaina and 30 minutes to Ka'anapali. Bus service is a 5 minute walk to Malaaea Bay Harbor and costs as low as $2 all day.
Driving Directions to Kanai A Nalu 402:1. Head directly out from the airport. You'll be on Dairy Road.
2. Dairy Road becomes Hwy 380. Continue west about 8 miles until it ends.
3. Turn left on Hwy 30, called Honopiilani Hwy.
4. About a mile later, bear left at the green highway sign for Ma’alaea Village. You'll be on Ma’alaea Rd.
◦ Alternate route: if you miss the turn (or prefer to turn at a traffic signal), continue on Hwy 30 about 1/2 mile further. At the traffic light, turn left (Kapoli St). Then right onto Ma’alaea Road.
5. Turn left onto Hauoli Street (it says 'Rd' on the attached map).
6. Continue 1/2 a mile to 250 Hauoli St. It's just after the 3rd speed bump.
7. When you see the 'Kanai A Nalu' sign (white letters on a blue background), turn into the driveway and take an immediate left then a right to follow the parking lot to the other side of the complex.
8. Unit #402 is in the building straight ahead – closest to the ocean, with steps on the right. Elevator (northwest) is next to the manager office around the corner from unit 108! Newspaper machine is right there too along with luggage cart.
