Pea Ridge National Military Park near Rogers memorializes the largest Union-Confederate clash west of the Mississippi River. Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park preserves a site where more than 20,000 Confederate and Union soldiers fought in 1862.
Cultural activities are available in each community, and Broadway productions, exhibits, etc. are available at the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville. Northwest Arkansas also offers several art galleries, studios and diverse fine arts at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Downtown Bentonville where 250,000 visitors are expected to visit each year.
