Hilo House Rental Photos and Description
3BR 2BA Home sleeps maximum of 6
The Alohahouse is a spectacular oceanfront property where you will experience breathtaking sunrises, cascading rainbows, dolphin & whale watching all from the comfort of your Hawaiian hale. The property is located just 30 minutes south of Hilo in a private community, Hawaiian Paradise Park, on one of the loveliest bays in East Hawaii where you can walk for miles and see nothing but pristine coastline and lush forest. This quiet and serene property has everything including a length of the house oceanfront covered and tiled lanai. Furnished island style with rattan and wicker, ceiling fans, color TV, CD stereo and washer/dryer. In November 2013, we have put in a BRAND NEW KItCHEN! This home is a great spot to set up base to discover the beauty of the East side of the Big Island. It is just a short dirve to Volcano National Park, Lava Tree State Park, Hilo, Kapoho Tide Pools, botanical gardens, zoo & more. Perfect for a couple or family. I have many repeat guests who love being so close to the ocean! Paradise calls!
The Alohahouse: The oceanfront Alohahouse property sits spectacularly oceanfront on the pristine Puna Coast in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision just south of Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii. This 3 bedroom, 2 bath home offers the vacationer an up close and personal ocean experience! You can't get much closer to the ocean without being in it! It lulls you to sleep at night and the sunrises are so incredibly awesome - you will want to get up early even if you are on vacation! In the winter months, you can hear and see the whales that come in quite close because the ocean is deep in front of the property. This is a great spot to catch fish from the bluff and cook right on the barbecue!
Decorated island style with rattan furnishings and overhead ceiling fans in all the rooms, the home stays very comfortable all year! Sometimes you might even need a sweathshirt in the winter months! This home is centrally located and it is just a short drive to Volcano National Park, the Kapoho tide pools, and Hilo International Airport. The location is superb for the traveler wanting to set up base for the ultimate Big Island adventure. The oceanfront lanai is the place you will probably want to hang out after your day trips!
The BRAND NEW kitchen is fully equipped with all your dining needs, all linens are provided, along with soap, and laundry detergent (you won't have time for that though!) There is also an outdoor hot shower to rinse off after surfing, swimming, snorkeling, or hiking the volcano. We provide a cooler for your day outings too!
The cottage on the property is currently long term rented.
Activities:: From the oceanfront lanai you can sun bathe, dine and watch the sea turtles, dolphins and whales frolic. Explore the coastline tide pools or fish off the bluff. A short distance from blacksand beaches, hot ponds, waterfalls, golf, kayaking, Volcano National Park, shops and restaurants. Swimming, surfing, diving, fishing, snorkeling, or relax at nearby Isaac Hale Park, Pohoiki Bay, MacKenzie State Park, Puala'a Warm Springs, fabulous Kapoho Point, Kalani Honua Culture Center. Shopping, banking, medical facilities, restaurants, etc. in nearby quaint Pahoa Town. Have the best of both worlds: peace and serenity combined with as much activity as you feel like! Olympic size swimming pool in Pahoa (free!), fine restaurants in Hilo, Pahoa, & Keaau! Be sure to catch the Makuu farmers market on weekends, or the Hilo farmer's market! And we find 'Uncle Robert's' In Kalapan a fantastic way to have dinner on Wednesday evenings. It is located at the end of the 'Red Road,' Highway 137 in Kalapana. We find it's better than a luau with wonderful Hawaiian musicians, arts, crafts, many local food vendors. This is a must on your list of things to do in East Hawaii!

About Pat Starkie
We love the Big Island of Hawaii and try to visit as often as we can. We live in beautiful Morro Bay, California, where we do property management. Our hobbies and interests include swimming, bicycling, traveling, concerts, water skiing and enjoying our son and our daughter who live nearby.
Pat Starkie purchased this house in 2004
Why Pat Starkie chose Hilo
We fell in love with this home because of its proximity to the ocean and the feeling of being on the 'edge of the world.' The air is so pure here and the night sky is star-filled. This is a very special place!
What makes this house unique
This is the place with the very HIGH RELAX factors. With the oceanfront length of the house lanai, you can watch the waves with the dolphins, turtles, whales in the winter months, for hours! You can catch fish off the bluff and cook it right there on your built-in oceanfront barbecue. Just a short drive to town for groceries, and a great place to come back to after day adventures to Volcano National Park, botanical gardens, farmer's markets, snorkeling in Kapoho, and so much more!! Paradise Found!
Guestbook comments from the owner
This is a place to get away from the hustle & bustle of frantic life on the mainland. The pounding of the surf, croaking of the frogs, cooing of the doves offer soothing comfort and relaxation. Turn off your cell phones and laptops and ENJOY! Don't miss the ice cream at Mauna Loa Mac Farm.
Since we have stayed in both Pat & Andy's homes, we can't pick a favorite - the causal calm of Pualani in Kapoho and wonderful pounding of the surf at the Dolphin Bay are both great! Hawaii is now a preferred destination.
