Overview

U Street Corridor Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

In the trendiest, artsy section of Washington DC, Dupont Circle - example of Pierre L'Enfant's vision for the city, great avenues radiating off small parks like spokes on a wheel, we offer the best value in furnished apartments, truly a home away from home: just bring your clothes.

We offer a beautiful light and airy south facing furnished apartment, gutted last year, with availability throughout the year. There is an amazing new kitchen with Fisher&Paykel gas range and Italian cabinets. The bath has an amazing Kohler deep soaking tub and beautiful white carrara marble tiles.

This one bedroom apartment with one bathroom on the second floor of historic Art Deco building is steps from world class restaurants, avant-garde theaters, trendy cafes and the best shopping this city has to offer. The apartment is decorated with passion and attention to detail: classic modern furniture, color coordinated sheets, rugs, cotton linens, kitchen and bath ware.

The building features outdoor seating patio, washer and dryer (shared) and close proximity to Metro only block and a half away.

Garage parking is available near our unit for $20 to $30 a day.

Street parking is by permit only between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. We can get visitor's parking pass for you from a local police station for $40 for the stay, and you can park, day and night, on the street. The parking pass is for zone 1, so any street marked zone 1 on the signs is fine (quite a large area). Please note that during the season the streets get cleaned -please read signs clearly and visibly posted on each street when you must move your car for street cleaning.

About Eva

hi, originally from Prague, Czech Republic, Washington DC has become my second home twelve years ago when I came to study at Georgetown University. I live in this wonderful city with my two boys Alexander and Christopher, only few blocks from the rental property. We spend every weekend at a museum (Air and Space is the favorite), hiking through Rock Creek Park or on a fifty year old carousel in front of the Smithsonian Gardens and we hope that all our guests enjoy this vibrant city as much as we do. Eva

Eva purchased this condo in 2009

Why Eva chose U Street Corridor

As a single mom I need to provide for my two boys. I love to travel and so do my kids. Most of the time I travel out of DC and the situation helped me see that just as I love to leave the city and to explore other places, there are people who come to visit DC to spend time with their families. My two boys, my family, are the best critics of any place, as no furnishings are safe from their play and no vase is sacred to them. Our places are luxurious but ready to be used. I understand what most travelers need to feel comfortable since I have traveled extensively around the world to Africa, South and Central America, Asia and Europe . Please come and share your vacation time in our home. I promise that we will do our best to make you feel comfortable. This is the reason I bought my rental property.

What makes this condo unique

From our apartment in the heart of Dupont Circle the access to all the tourist attractions, world famous restaurants, great bars and the biggest selection of privately owned galleries is just steps away. The metro stop is only a block and a half away, next to Starbucks. The 14 Street buses run directly downtown from our bus station at the end of the block; every two minutes during rush hour and every six minutes other times. The White house, The Mall and The Smithsonian Museums are less than a mile away; about fifteen minute walk or few metro stops.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Dear Eva,

thank you for a wonderful experience in DC!

We liked all of the restaurants and getting a feel of what it's like to live here!

The U St metro made it easy to get to all of the monuments and museums. We would like to thank you for fixing the door as soon as we called you. We loved how clean the apartment is and how attentive you are!

Thank you

Terrific Apartment

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this lovely and well-located apartment in the heart of Washington, DC. It has a an updated and well-stocked kitchen for those who might like to eat at home and the living room is well-appointed with modern furniture. As others have mentioned the bedroom is small but caused no problem for us. It is near the lively U Street corridor and there are lots of fabulous restaurants, bakeries, and coffee places in the area. There is easy access to the metro but we also walked from the apartment to the Mall. It is a very safe neighborhood. Eva was extremely quick and responsive to any questions. We liked the apartment so much we decided to stay an extra day. For travelers coming with a car, we would definitely recommend looking into a parking permit so you can park on the street. We used a parking lot and like most city parking, it was expensive. We look forward to returning to Washington again soon and staying in this great apartment.

great location!

  • 5 of 5

Excellent short term rental. Good for a couple as it is rather small. Small children wiuld be ok if they sleep with parents. Sofa can accommodate another person but looks uncomfortable.

Place is well equipped, clean and having laundry on site is handy for longer stays. The bedroom is small so plan on crawling over your bed mate.

Great location, nice visit

  • 4 of 5

The location was great - so close to the metro and local restaurants. Trader Joe's was right around the corner for groceries. The kitchen was great. We were able to have breakfast every morning. The furnishings were nice and the apartment was cozy and kept in good working order. The apartment was secure with locked door at the street and inner door with deadbolt though the neighborhood was nice. Lovely stay, and would love to come back again.

Great location, lovely place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We were pleasantly surprised by the comfort and locale. The owner could not have been nicer, very responsive and we could walk everywhere we wanted to go. Great restaurants just a few steps away, metro rail close by, a Trader Joe's right around the corner. It is so much more fun to have a real place to stay with a kitchen and we were able to watch our beloved Giants baseball playoff games in the evening! We left our bags until early afternoon on the day of check out and retrieve them while the cleaning person was there. We hope to come here again!

Some ups, some downs

  • 3 of 5

The apartment is clean, bright and airy. The location is perfect for us. We have family in a couple of blocks away. The kitchen is well stocked, there are plenty of linens and access to public transportation and local businesses is easy. I have two major complaints. The first is that the couch bed is nearly impossible to sleep on. I found an air mattress but there was no pump to inflate it. I was visiting with my adult son so two separate places to sleep was a necessity for us. This was a big disappointment. The other concern was the there was not a working deadbolt on the unit which raises questions re security. It is DC and I would think that a deadbolt would be important. If the sofa bed situation is fixed, I would stay here again.

Not as described

  • 2 of 5

After re-reading prior reviews, I wonder if we are talking about the same apartment. With VRBO you pay in full and well in advance, and rely on the description and pictures. This listing is simply misrepresented. First of all, it is not located anywhere near Dupont Circle. The neighborhood is "U Street Corridor," which has its own unique and enjoyable cache. Secondly, not all of the pictures in this listing were taken in this unit. We looked all over for the cute outdoor place for our morning coffee and never found it. One prior writer was absolutely correct that the couch is very uncomfortable. Add to it that the black chair and ottoman depicted (which might have helped the problem) had been removed, so there was no comfortable seating in the living area. Then there is the bedroom. Both the head and foot of the platform bed press against walls, so whoever sleeps on the window side has to crawl over the other to get in and out. A second soft mattress had been flopped on the top, so it was impossible to sit on the edge of the bed to dress without sliding off. And the linens were worn out, albeit clean. We are not picky people. We travel far and wide; we manage our expectations; and we are experienced VRBO users. We will not recommend this unit.

Owner's Response: Dear Paula, I think you did not stay in my apt:) Dupont Circle center (the actual circle) is 8 minute walk and yes, another awesome neighborhood of U St is east of us, so you actually get two great areas to choose from for coffee, dinners and shopping, as well as two metro stops. ALL the photos were taken in the apartment and the shared patio is still in the back of the building, it did not walk away. I did replaced a damaged chair on the photo for a new one. All my furniture is high end modern furniture( as per photos), not lazy boy type of furniture you are probably used to. Another guest last year suggested the bed was too low because of a thinner mattress. I listened and ordered a thicker high end natural latex mattress, same as in my bedroom, so my guests are as comfortable as me. It is ironic you found the new expensive and very comfy mattress not comfortable. Our sheets are high end, mostly organic and made out of natural materials only. In all, I wonder why you did not call, text or email me once during your stay. I would gladly guide you to the patio or help with anything else.
