wonderful place for a lakefront vacation

We have stayed around Lake Leelanau 9 of the last 13 years, and this is probably the best suited property we've rented (this was our 2nd year here) . 4 adults and 4 teenagers. Lovely, comfortable home, with 2 baths (shower added on ground floor this year), nice size living room/dining room combo, kitchen with island. One upstairs bedroom has a toddler bed and twin foldout along with double bed. Nice lawn area behind the house for badminton, corn hole and croquet (we brought with us), yet front of the house is very close to the water but with enough space for the deck, some lawn chairs, hammock and fire pit. Unlike many places on the lake, it isn't that far out past end of dock to deeper water (shoulder deep) but you will want water shoes (a chest full beside the house) as there are some rocks in the sand. A side lot to the north has trees, shrubs and fallen logs, along with a brook, creating a charming rustic garden that acts as a buffer from the house on the north. Trees around the property and wooden fence serve as a screen from the southern neighbors. There is a garage/cottage between the house and the road, which I believe the owner uses, but we never encountered her. The location is wonderful - 15-20 minutes from Traverse City, 15 minutes from Suttons Bay (not too far for post dinner drives for ice cream), 25 minutes from Leland (for morning runs to Stone House Bread) - along various country roads with scenery that can't be beat and wildlife (porcupine, wild turkeys, deer). Spend the day swimming and kayaking (latter provided). Some good places not far away for dinner or buy sausages and burgers from Pleva's in Cedar and grill out.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for staying with us and very glad to hear how you enjoy the house and the surrounding areas. Hope to see you back again soon....Leelanau Chalets
