I purchased this rental because it was contiguous with property I already owned. I had lived in Marathon for 6 years and knew this would be a worthwhile invest for me and an opporunity for travelers to enjoy a very unique experience in West Texas
What a beautiful home in charming Marathon, Texas! My husband, parents, and I had a wonderful four night stay over Thanksgiving. The views were amazing and we spent a lot of time on the large covered patio taking in the sights. The home is well designed, very clean, and the kitchen has ample area in which to cook if you are so inclined. Our two small dogs also loved the house and the outside areas. The house is sited in such a way as to give guests maximum privacy, but is close enough (for walkers and runners) to easily get into town without a car. We loved the proximity of this house (and Marathon) to Big Bend, Alpine, and other nearby areas of interest. Finally, I would be remiss if I said nothing of Tom and Klemie, our hosts. They left a handwritten letter and delicious local coffee for our arrival, communicated promptly with us during the rental process, and made themselves available for assistance during our stay. If we are in this area of Texas again, we would love to return!
Casa La Vista is a true beauty. The house is just as it looks in the photos and you are provided with everything that you need. The house is clean and well-maintained and you will leave wishing that you didn't have to. The sunrise and sunsets are magnificent and the night skies are breathtaking. I highly recommend spending an entire week there if not more. My family was there for a week over New Years, second year in a row, and hope to continue the tradition.
My nephew and I stayed here and had a great time. Very comfortable lodging, home away from home. The scenery is beautiful and the view of the stars at night is breathtaking. Accomadations were excellent with full kitchen, very comfortable beds and furniture. Easy reservations and the property is very well maintained. I highly recommend this wonderful house for your vacation lodging.!!!!
We all just loved the place, and missed out on music Friday night in town because we didn't want to leave. Even more amazing, we left the Post early Saturday night, just to get back to this lovely house! We weren't there during the hot part of the day, so didn't use the swamp cooler, but the evenings were very comfortable.
This is a charming home with amazing views of the mountains -- must-see sunsets! We loved our stay at Casa La Vista; although we were (also) surprised that there was no A/C. We were in the area during record-breaking heat, and we found the house to be very warm during the afternoons. Heating the oven to cook was also out of the question beause of the temperature in the house. If it's important to you - - the wi-fi as advertised, is a single bar borrowed from the hotel down the road. Connectivity is intermittent at best. Perhaps this is a good excuse to put away the electronics and enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer. We would definitely return to this lovely home, but would plan a trip during the cooler months.
This is a lovely home, beautifully decorated, clean and well-maintained. And because it was built so recently, it never occurred to me to check if it had air conditioning. With temps hovering in the low 100's during our stay, even the thick walls, ceiling fans and window shades just couldn't keep the temp in the house from becoming uncomfortable. Fortunately, nights were cool, so by about 8:30pm, it was quite pleasant and sleeping was great. We enjoyed the area and toured Big Bend, Terlingua, and several other spots. The drought is obvious, but the scenery is still amazing. We would stay again, but maybe when it is cooler and we could enjoy the cozy wood-burning fireplace!
