We had a wonderful stay! This is our fifth year for the six of us to vacation together and all of us agree the house was perfect.
The golfing, the sights and the shopping was fabulous. We found that the home was well located for all the activities we love.
We would love to return and feel Sanctuary Vacation Rentals will be where we go to when looking for other places to visit.
Our prayer group had a wonderful time in your beautiful home. We laughed, talked, ate and yes, prayed. We love the various private areas where we could curl up & read or have a nice conversation. We loved the cozy throws & made good use of them. Thank you for all the lovely personal touches & the welcoming wine & cheese - it was a real treat.
Clean, tidy and comfortable. Felt very welcome. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Villa Escondido provided a lovely setting for the celebration of my 70th birthday with my husband and our two daughters and families, nine of us altogether. The home is beautifully maintained and decorated and is very comfortable with plenty of room for a large group. My eleven year old granddaughter claimed the upstairs alcove as her place to sleep and hang out, and wasn't ready to go home when the time came. My oldest daughter and her husband cooked a delicious birthday dinner in the gourmet kitchen and served it in the spacious dining room. My younger daughter and husband ordered a delectable birthday cake from the Layers Bakery in Monterey. They were also the assigned cleanup crew after dinner.
On Sunday morning we all walked to the Aquarium where my eleven month old granddaughter was enthralled with the jelly fish. A couple of us also went kayaking in the bay early Sunday afternoon, and at three o'clock the men started watching the Super Bowl game in the den that was fully equipped with glassware and bar utensils. Drinks and snacks were served. We all gathered in the cosy kitchen later in evening to feast on leftovers. By the time we left on Monday morning everyone said they had a wonderful time and that I had rented an amazing house.
Sanctuary Forest provided excellent customer service, and I very highly recommend this property to others.
Villa Escondido was absolutely PERFECT! For the past 15 years, my college friends/classmates have gotten together once a year in a different location – normally a city in the USA. We have stayed in wonderful hotels and homes, but none came close to matching Villa Escondido. As soon as we entered, we were awed by the elegance of the home, the spaciousness, the amenities and the cozy feeling throughout. There were 12 of us who had plenty of room to be together or just sit alone for a few minutes to read a book. The location was excellent, because we could enjoy the walking trails, restaurants, Monterey Aquarium and town of Pacific Grove – all within walking distance. Julie Kavanaugh, the house manager, ensured everything was in perfect order for us when we arrived. As I worked with Julie before our arrival, I was very impressed with how responsive, courteous, professional and accommodating she was. During our visit, she was out of town, but she still checked in with me to make sure all was well. After our visit, she again contacted me to make sure we were happy with our stay. We were very happy indeed. It was hard to leave this beautiful home, though our memories of it and our magnificent time together will last forever. I cannot recommend Villa Escondido and Sanctuary Vacation Rentals highly enough. On a scale of 1-5, they are a 10!
Beautiful old home that has been cared for. Hardwood floors, great "scale", large rooms, crown moldings, well furnished. Easy 3-minute walk to the ocean, or less than 10-minutes to the Monterey Aquarium.
Grocery stores, Nob Hill, Trader Joes, Safeway, Starbucks...all just within minutes. Downtown PG is just a ten minute walk of five minute car ride.
Great service by the management company. Helped me secure a Christmas tree, with lights and decorations, and mailed me my sweater that I accidently left behind in a closet..! Highly recommend.
My family and I have rented a lot of vacation by owners and this was the best experience we've ever had. Way exceeded my expectations! We met the property manager the first day. She made us feel very welcome and was helpful in providing information about the Monterey peninsula. The house was festively decorated for Christmas…in the middle of the dining room table was a huge poinsettia with candles and red napkins. Christmas dish towels and pot holders contributed to the holiday atmosphere, too. The house was spotlessly clean, the kitchen well stocked for cooking and the bedrooms were inviting. We loved walking one block to the beach and seeing the sea loins and otters (bring your binoculars), tide pooling was fascinating, Point Lobos State Park is not to be missed (take the Cypress Grove trail for views you will never forget) and the aquarium is a must see. Many more fun activities and and attractions that I didn't mention. No need for a TV (even though there are some). I would highly recommend Villa Escondido!
