This is really a lovely house with beautiful furnishings and large rooms. We especially enjoyed the sitting room in the master bedroom suite. It was extremely comfortable and very conveniently located. I really can't say enough about how lovely this house is. I would not take young children here, I'd be afraid of what they could do to all the lovely furnishings. It is a great house for adults who can appreciate the care the owners have taken in restoration and furnishings. It's an easy walk to River Street, Oglethorpe Square, Columbia Square and many of the other lovely squares in this town. Once we got the car parked we never had to move it (except to go to Bonaventure Cemetery and Tybee Island)- but note, there is no private parking.
A very minor negative point - it's in such a prime location that tours are coming down the street all the time. This can be very entertaining during the day, but later at night the noise level for the front bedroom can become a bit much - also there is a lot of light coming into the front bedroom at night.
It would have been nice if the rental agency had been more in tune with the parking situation for this particular house. They told us we had to get a parking permit and park in a metered spot or car park, but the home had instructions that there was free parking behind the house, if a space was available. It was very confusing at first. The thing to note if you park on the street (anywhere) check the car every day. We could see the car and knew it was still there, but didn't see the notice on the windshield.. We were happily going about our sightseeing, unaware that they were about to pave the street where the car was parked. We luckily found out about it just before our car would have been towed.
Another thing about the rental agency not being in tune with the house is I asked the rental company where the key to the back gate was, as it would have been more convenient for us to go in and out the back at times. They didn't tell us and we found it as we were tidying up on the last day. The owners might want to leave a note about it in their instructions in the house also.
Overall - this is great and I'd highly recommend it.

Owner's Response: As a property manager one of the hardest things to do is to convince guest to follow our instructions. We will never suggest you attempt to cut any corners that may jeopardize your vacation. When you book a home with us you will find our instructions to be very clear and very helpful and we never have any grey areas that will get you into trouble. In this particular situation the guest choose not to take our advice and buy a parking pass and parked on the street where there are 5 non metered spots behind the house, and with a pass you can park anywhere in Savannah for free and on any of the 100+ parking spots in the direct vicinity of the house without any fear of something happening to your car.
I am the person that fixes all items that break at this home, pulls the weeds, takes the photos and handles any situations that come up. i sometimes joke that I know these homes all to well as its a never ending job. We live in Savannah and do this for a living so out of tune is about as far from reality as one can get. If you send in an email late at night with no reference to where you are staying like the guest did and the email says were parked behind the house in the free parking are we ok? You will get the reply they got which is you should move your car so that you may avoid problems. I manage a lot of vacation rentals downtown and some of the homes have places that you will be towed for parking in the wrong spots and guest have been know to do this and call and get upset with me even though we provide accurate instructions on where to park. Sometimes its a lose lose situation such as this one. No matter how hard you try you can't get through to everyone that the information that we supply to you can be important.
The guest found a sheet of paper that the owner had left in a drawer that had the words rear gate on them. I had seen the sheet of paper before and tried the key taped to it and tried the key and it doesn't work. After realizing what this guest had found I called her to attempt to correct the accuracy of the review knowing that she had found the key but never tried it and without any luck she was insistent that the review stay the way it was.
If your looking for an awesome home in a very desirable area and can follow great instructions and understand that we are giving you advice as to the way we would like to be advised if staying in this home we would love to have you as a guest.
