Welcome to The Oregon Cliff House, one of the McKenzie rivers most spectacular vacation destinations. Perched on a cliff over looking the the beautiful blue green waters of the McKenzie river, this gorgeous home offers 1900 sq ft of elevated river front views from every room in the house. You will get lost in all the amenities and beauty that innovation and nature have to offer here. Completely remodeled in 2008, this home is an expression of love and labor, created by the web of support that fills our lives. The house comes with all the comforts of a home, firewood, q-tips, spices, wine, cds and much more. The bedding is soft and clean and the kitchen is well equipped. Whether you want to stay inside or play outside, bring family and friends or have a romantic getaway, The Oregon Cliff House is a place that you will want to come back to again and again.
Located in the middle of the most popular stretch of the McKenzie river for fly-fishing and rafting, there are countless activities near by and right on the property. With over a 1200 feet elevated river front decks, 1000 sq ft of patios, three built-in bbq's, one inside, and two more outside (one propane), a private seven site camp ground, a regulation size horse shoe pit, badmitten and a wiffle ball field unlike any you have ever played on, you are sure to be entertained. There is also a 6 person riverside hot tub, a fire pit and parking for 20 cars. Stairs built in to the cliff offer water access. Off the property, the river is shallow enough to walk out to the middle and fly fish a great channel in the late summer and fall months. Two hammocks hang by the waters edge June-Sept.
There is also a 550 sq ft bunk house with three more private queen beds and an incredible marble bathroom available for larger parties.
My name is Shaun Nugent and I grew up in the Mckenzie valley. I own Signature Surfaces NW which offers the finest in granite, tile and marble installations. My wife Serena wrote for the Register Gaurd for 12 years before she gave birth to our first son Quinn. Together we have finished the Oregon Cliff House and would like to share its pristine beauty with you.
Shaun Nugent purchased this house in 2006
The Mckenzie river is one of the cleanest rivers in the world. Fed by a unique geological formation. Volcanic rock provides a natural filtration system that spring feeds this incredibly clean, cold, beautiful river. Surrounded by magnificent trees that provide peace and beauty, there is no better place to relax and enjoy the the finer things in life.
Laying in a hammock or playing in the shallow waters along the rivers edge removes one from all the bustle and stress of normal life. The 30 ft cliff bank covered in vegetation creates a world of its own. Sitting on the deck or in the hot tub over looking the river is also unparalleled. Hitting a home run on the wiffleball field may top them all though!
After taking a beautiful drive along the McKenzie Highway, and pulling up to the immense "CH" on the stunning gate of the Cliff House- we knew we were in store for an amazing weekend.
Myself and a group of 12 extreme adventurers reserved this outdoor adult playground over Memorial Day weekend- and honestly- it knocked our socks off.
This place has everything you could ever need, natural beauty, a flowing river in the backyard, awe inspiring architectural deck spaces, fire pits, a stage, 4 different versions of Cranium, a soothing hot tub, a Righteous Brothers CD, Q-tips, and Vida Yards!
Nothing will make you feel more alive than having the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th, and hitting a walk-off homer to win it all...with a beer in your hand. Even if you aren't a baseball fan- this is the closest you will ever get to feeling like you are in the big leagues.
Shaun was an amazing host- offering great advice for activities in the area, and making the reservation process a breeze. The added touch of the complimentary bottle of wine, and card was a great touch. You are minutes from all the rafting, hiking, and lush Oregonian wilderness you could dream of. We hiked to the Blue Pool just 30 minutes east, which I highly recommend.
Our group reunites every memorial day at a different VRBO property around the country, and we all agreed that this was, hands down, the best place we've stayed yet. Many thanks to Shaun for creating this place that brought us all together!
The Oregon Cliff house had absolutely everything we needed and more. We came up for an escape from the pollen count in the valley. What we encountered was fresh air, the most beautiful river in Oregon, lots of space to be, a house with all the amenities, a fire pit by which to sit and watch the stars, and A WIFFLE BALL FIELD! We sat on the deck, bbq'd, made s'mores, played in the river, and played horseshoes and wiffle ball. What more can anyone want?
The Cliff House was everything it was billed as and more! Our group had an incredible time lounging on the decks overlooking the river, soaking in the hot tub, cranking wiffle balls out of the park (yes there is a real-deal wiffle ball field on site), cooking/bbqing fine meals, and enjoying everything the property has to offer.
The place is clean, well furnished, nicely appointed and the open floor plan was great for entertaining.
Access to the great outdoors from The Cliff House is unparalleled. Just up the road are wilderness trails (we explored Clear Lake one day and Tamolitch Pool another), river put-ins, and ski resorts. Sisters and Bend are just over the pass, and Eugene 45 minutes downriver.
We were impressed with the size of the lot the house sits on, which was great for the kids to run around, for throwing the frisbee and playing bocci ball. The place is actually set up to handle a large group with a covered stage for music, extensive parking, tent sites, horse shoe pit and a bunk house. This gave our group a lot to talk about for a future, larger get together. Highly recommended!
I stayed here with a group of ladies in April, and had a fabulous time. The house is absolutely beautiful with lots of detailed features, from the flooring to the bin of toys tucked under a table. There's art in every room, and the porch and river view are hard to beat. Not only that, but the kitchen is well-equipped with every piece of equipment you might want. I've already mentioned it to all of my family as a possible vacation spot!
WOW! I could go on and on about how wonderful the Cliff House is and how wonderful the owners are, instead I tell you what a wonderful time my family had there. The house was all decked out for the Holidays, it was beautiful, tree, lights, table setting....everything was done when we got there, so all we had to do was move right in and start enjoying our family vacation. We enjoyed the hot tub, the ball field, the deck, the view, the sounds of the river. The house is large so we had plenty of room the play games, sit by the fire and and visit. Just loved our time there, it made my birthday and Christmas with my kids (adults) a truly wonderful experience.
We recently spent a weekend at the Oregon Cliff House with a group of mamas and toddlers. What a wonderful retreat for all of us. The house was spectacular. It met everyone's expectations, was comfortable, clean, spacious and provided us with all the essentials for our weekend away. The grounds are beautiful, the hot tub was definitely put to use--overlooking the river--what more could you ask for? I can't wait to visit again someday. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with our little mama tribe. We made memories to last a lifetime.
The Oregon Cliff House is located in Vida near the 33 mi marker on Hwy 126.
