Welcome to “Carmelot”!
**For more details about specials for this home, see the Sanctuary Vacation Rentals website or call our office directly.
As its name suggests, “Carmelot” is a touch of paradise here on earth. The owners have taken an historic Carmel cottage and expertly renovated it, respecting the feel of the old while giving it a sophisticated updated styling that combines contemporary with Craftsman.
In addition to the many charms of this 3-bedroom, 2-bath house, there is the attraction of the location - just minutes by foot to downtown Carmel and a bit further to the beach.
The entrance is warmed by the glow of Carmel stone pavers beneath your feet and framing a raised bed with flowering shrubs that fronts the house. Craftsman touches abound - in the earthen palette, quarter-paned windows, wrought-iron fixtures and an impressive wooden front door with two rows of small windows at the top.
Upon your arrival you will be greeted with complimentary hors d'oeuvres and wine or sparkling cider, passes to the renown Spa on the Plaza in downtown Monterey, tickets for a wine tasting at Scheid Vineyards’ tasting room in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea and a basket of local information. An assigned concierge vacation house manager is available to assist you during your stay. We have also provided spa amenities in the bathrooms, plush spa bathrobes, slippers, oversized towels and beach gear.
Great care has been lavished on details in this lovely house. The living room, with its high coved beamed ceilings, hardwood floors, pale lime-green walls and modern art, gives a foretaste of what to expect throughout. A sofa with chaise and slipper chairs allow you to ease back and bask in the glow from a Carmel stone fireplace watching movies on a large flat-screen TV. Play your favorite sonata on the baby grand.
Preparing gourmet meals will be a joy in the drop-dead gorgeous kitchen with its well-thought-out design, marble countertops, farmhouse sink and top-of-the-line appliances. A large island work station has a second sink, a built-in microwave, and two bar stools for sitting and chatting with the chef. Other appliances include an oversized refrigerator, a dishwasher and a stainless-steel gas stove. Special lighting shows the kitchen off to dramatic effect day or night.
The dining room, which looks out to an enclosed patio, has a rectangular wooden farmhouse table that seats 6. A strip of cylindrical opaque glass light fixtures over the table adds contemporary flair. A corner built-in cabinet houses a smaller flat-screen TV.
Across the hall from the dining room is a built-in office nook with a marble countertop, cabinets and computer hookups.
A hallway to the bedrooms has a bank of floor-to-ceiling paned windows and French doors that open out to the sunny enclosed patio where you can relax with your cocktails or coffee in two chaise lounge chairs while watching the flames dance in the massive Carmel stone fireplace.
Halfway down the hallway is a library alcove with a long built-in window seat, antiqued cabinetry and shelves lined with books for your reading enjoyment.
You'll feel like you are in the lap of luxury in the large master bedroom with its high beamed ceiling, wall-to-wall beige carpeting, built-in storage and Carmel stone fireplace flanked by windows that look out to the patio. Two gray lacquer end tables flank the king size bed, which is fitted with luxury linens. The master bath features marble countertops, his-and-her sinks, taupe tiling, a marble-edged soaking tub and a large shower.
A second bedroom, also with beige wall-to-wall carpeting, has a queen bed and a television. A third bedroom has a queen bed. A queen sofa bed in the living room offers another sleeping option.
A guest bathroom, with marble counter tops and taupe tiling, has a tub/shower, spa amenities and plush towels.
Washer/dryer available. Parking for up to 3 cars in the driveway.

I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
I was very happy with the location.
The vacation rental was spotless.
The property manager was very helpful.
Overall, I recommend this vacation rental.
Everything about our stay was excellent except the living room furniture was not comfortable. We sat in our camping chairs the entire month. The patio also lacked a nice umbrella & a nice patio table & chairs for outside eating. Here also we used our umbrella (large) from home with our camping chairs & tables. All this said we would stay there again because the house was like home. Loved it's open floor plan & kitchen was great. Master bed so comfortable we purchase a new be for our home while there. Thanks

Coming in from Scottsdale we were looking for a break from the hot weather. This was an ideal spot for us, Carmel has great weather (although a lot more humid than Scottsdale)and so much more to offer. We'd have a couple of suggestions which would enhance a stay at Carmelot which we'll pass on but over all we had a very enjoyable time and the management company was helpful and easy to deal with.
This house was walking distance to town and perfect for our small group. It was great to be able to host a Thanksgiving dinner for our family and the size of the home was excellent. We really enjoyed the outdoor fireplace and the Sanctuary Bathrobes! While town is walking distance, more cost effective groceries can be purchased at the mouth of the valley at Safeway. Also, don't miss The Cheese Shop in the plaza and The Cottage of Sweets on Ocean Ave.
The Monterey Peninsula is unique in its combination of breathtaking natural resources and a multiplicity of cultural and entertainment possibilities. You can find something for every possible taste. For nature lovers, there is the diversity of mountain and sea, for picnicking, surfing, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, beach-combing, bird-watching, kayaking, scuba diving, tide-pooling, biking and more. If you want a man-made excitement, we have art galleries galore, excellent fine-art museums, local theater, outstanding restaurants, boutiques, a natural history and a children's museum, a world-class aquarium, and that's just for starters. History buffs will have a field day exploring the adobes of Monterey. There's so much to do that you cannot possibly do it all in one visit, which means you will have to come back.
