Asheville Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible Bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)

Welcome to our historic, modernized 1000 sq. ft. Biltmore Loft with a gourmet kitchen and electric fireplace on a bustling corner, smack-dab in the heartbeat of Downtown with some of the best restaurants, galleries, music venues, theaters, and shops just steps from your door. How about your own street entrance with 39 (39 Biltmore Ave) artistically embedded in the sculptured metal gate with a private Keypad keyless door access - easy and safe - sleeps 2-4 comfortably! A new 400+ Asheville City Parking Garage is right across the side street and free street parking is on Lexington Ave. behind the Hotel; Pack Square Park is on the top of the block; Mast General Store is 1/2 block; the Fine Arts Theater is across the street; the nationally regarded music venue, the Orange Peel, is 1 block; and the organic French Broad Co-op grocer is 1 block yonder. Our well insulated building has 16 inch brick walls, high ceilings, and high-end Kolby double-paned windows. We are smack in the middle of downtown so a little street noise will be heard - this is downtown. If you choose, though, you may turn on our Sleep Sound machine and hear waterfalls, nature sounds and the like. But we've heard only a couple comments about the occasional noise. If you don't want to hear any street noises but only the muffled 'character sounds' of some walking on the old Heartwood pine floors above during business hours, then consider our 39 Biltmore Studio discussed below.

You'll be enamored with the earthy feel of the historic brick and heartwood pine in this Manhattan Style Loft (open bedroom design + separate area with Queen sized sofa bed). You'll find all the luxurious trappings including: high speed 12 mb download, wireless DSL internet connection; flat screen HDTV with Netflix movies and TV shows; wireless audio dock for the i-phone, i-pod, i-pad and music streaming with smart phones - 4S and earlier; 3-D Blu Ray Disc Player with a small library of movies; comfortable living room and bedroom suites and Queen sized pull-out Sofa Bed (separate area), both with gel memory foam mattresses & pillow top; stainless steel appliances; and granite kitchen counters.

You may also be interested in our cozy 39 Biltmore Studio in the same building for $185/night with high quality appliances, gel memory foam mattress in the bedroom, and a small patio inside the French Cut wooden fence - a parking space is included right outside the fence (

How about seating yourself in the maple umbrage of the beautiful patio of the Double D's Coffee & Dessert BUS next door, or the world class venue of the 500 seat Diana Wortham Theater near the top of the block? We could say more but you'll just have to explore and experience the rest of the beauty and excitement on your own ...... Welcome to Downtown Asheville.... Welcome to the Biltmore Loft!

Landlord is not responsible for any Security Deposit Insurance (SDI) fee that was paid.

In the event full payment is not RECEIVED at least 20 days prior to arrival, then this Agreement will be considered cancelled at the option of the Landlord; Landlord will begin the process of re-renting the premises, and the provisions in the prior paragraph will then apply, unless subsequent arrangements have been made between the parties hereto.

About Bernie Byrne

Sandy and Bernie Byrne are Iowa born via Coral Gables/Miami FL. Bernie grew up on a farm in northwest Iowa and Sandy in Iowa City, the home of the University of Iowa (Hawkeyes). Sandy has authored several books and has traveled the world lecturing & teaching Ultrasound of the Eye. She feels so fortunate to have helped so many people with unique eye problems. We are overjoyed to be in the Asheville area for 18 years now and have worked diligently to develop a true Green, Organic, and Sustainable community just 25 minutes north of Asheville called Mountain Meadows on Crooked Creek. Just recently we converted our Biltmore Loft in Downtown Asheville to a vacation rental. We want to use it often too so we loaded it up with the most comfortable and convenient furnishings and electronics to go along with all of the exciting energies in Downtown Asheville. Excellent health in all physical, mental, and spiritual ways has been our positive passion for a long time and we feel so privileged to enjoy our kids, Cherie, Nicole & Donnie along with our grand daughters Amanda, Maddie, & Tabitha. Please give us a call at 828 230-0755 so that we may answer any other questions you have.

Bernie Byrne purchased this condo in 1999

Why Bernie Byrne chose Asheville

Downtown was not yet hip when we decided to buy a building in Asheville in the year 1999. We thought, hey, wouldn't it be a creative, FUN time and investment to renovate an old building and be able to have a small apartment where we could stay sometimes? Though our farm was only 20 minutes north, we felt this downtown option would really be the lap of luxury (it is)! We were fortunate to find an old, 2 story corner building with an art studio and gallery on the main floor, an apartment above, and a dilapidated basement. There were dozens of coats of paint on both the brick walls and the old Heartwood Pine floors; the frontage was a 1940's aluminum; and the owners were relectant to sell. After friendly negotiations, and paying much more than we really thought it was worth (does that sound familiar?), we went to work redesigning and putting together a construction crew. This 18 inch brick walled, ugly and decrepit dinosaur circa 1885 building is transformed and now on the National Historic Register on a gem of a corner surrounded by thriving restaurants, shops, galleries, coffee houses, a parking garage, and the new a-loft Hotel (part of the international Starwood Hotel system). We feel so fortunate to be part of a bustling downtown that still retains its historic character and charm!

What makes this condo unique

We've said it all before and we'll say it again - you'll just LOVE being Downtown right in the middle of it all with kind and caring folks all around and exciting things all about! The character and simplicity of Heartwood Pine floors, high ceilings and brick walls, all enconsced in a 1000 SF Loft with tall windows and skylights.... is awesome. Next door you'll visit the Double Decker Coffee & Dessert BUS; view the Fine Arts Theatre across the street where you will see artsy new independent movies; just a block away enjoy The Orange Peel, considered by Rolling Stone Magazine to be one of the best music venues in the nation; organic minded bodies will resonate with the French Broad Co-op 1 block south and the Farmer's Market down the street on Wednesday afternoon plus the City Market a few blocks away on Saturday mornings, in season; take a slow walk in the delightfully designed Pack Square Park up the street with its grassy areas and trees, water features, and its leisurely promenade - great for sitting, musing, and people watching; how about Broadway quality shows at Pack Square in the Diana Wortham Theatre just 1 block up the way?; a plethora of natural 'farm to table' restaurants are tantalizing; the original craft brewery in Asheville, Highland Brewery, was born in the basement environs of Barley's Taproom and Pizzeria right across the street; the Drum Circle, our primal beat, is our go-to on Friday nights - could we be so lucky?

Gateway to Asheville - on foot!

We couldn't have been happier with a place to stay. Beautiful loft, nice furnishings, comfy bed, fluffy towels... Detailed and very helpful instructions from Bernie and Sandy... Right in the heart of all the action and next to the double decker coffee bus and across the street from a wonderful bakery for breakfast... Food co-op a block down the street... As one person on the street said as we were coming downstairs "I wish I could live there!"

Owner's Response: Sandy... interesting comment from the passerby about the wish to live in our Loft. We actually hear that a lot from an assortment of Guests as well as local folk who almost seem awe struck that people get to live in such a great location. It always brings a warm smile as we felt the same way 15 years ago even when downtown was at the beginning of its growing phase. And your kind comments we so appreciate. Bernie

The perfect place in Asheville

  • 5 of 5
This is the best possible location if you are interested in Asheville's restaurants and music venues. It is literally a few feet from Blackbirds, Chestnut, Limones, City Bakery, Wicked Weed, and the Orange Peel. Everything we wanted to see was within a quarter of a mile or so.

The loft is amazing. It's such a fun feeling to be staying right on the vibrant, fun Biltmore Avenue in a place that's equally appealing. It is a large unit, fantastically well equipped, and loaded with historic and decorative touches that make you want to make notes of things you want to do with your own house. There are games, books, and information on local restaurant and attractions.

We enjoyed coffee in the next-door Double Decker Bus, eating out, going to Mast General Store a couple of doors down, watching Netflix on the nice A/V setup, and relaxing. The Internet speed is decent, the kitchen is perfect (even though we didn't use it since our goal was to try the local restaurants), and the feel of being centrally located is much nicer than being in a hotel far removed from downtown.

Parking is easy -- the Biltmore Avenue garage is almost next door, easy to get to, and costs $10 per day (the exit machine takes credit cards).

We have a really nice stay here and couldn't have desired anything the Loft didn't have.

A couple of unrelated traveler tips: (a) Limones is just around the corner and has an amazing (and cheap) weekend brunch menu; (b) Nine Mile is a little over a mile away and is still my favorite Asheville restaurant; (c) the art cinema is across the street; (d) White Duck Taco and City Bakery are great for casual snacks or meals and they are also immediately across the street; and (e) the best place for cheap beer that I've found is our old favorite Lexington Avenue Brewery, just a short walk away.

We stayed in an Asheville B&B last time that wasn't far away, but the experience at the Loft was infinitely better because it's so cool and so perfectly located. Bernie is a great host!

Owner's Response: Tim...

Your comments about the Loft, in volume, description, and comparison, have never been said better! We are so happy you enjoyed the accoutrements of the Loft and the vitality of downtown. Limones, White Duck Taco, and Nine Mile are all favorites of ours, too. Next time you may want to try one of the noted Zip lines in the area, the Pub Cycle, the hilarious Purple Bus Comedy Tour showing Asheville historic highlights, The Brews Cruise, the Segway tour, the Folk Art Center on the Parkway, Chimney Rock, Thomas Wolfe (the author) House, The Grove Park Inn, Biltmore Estate, and a myriad of other 'things to do' in downtown Asheville and in the area.

We look forward to seeing you again! Thanks Tim. Bernie

The location couldn't be better-coffee shop next door, walk to eating, shopping, yoga, nightlife and more! The space was a charming, warm, elegant juxtaposition of modern and historical. We loved it and will definitely return!!!

We have stayed in Asheville numerous times at various hotels, including The Inn on Biltmore and The Grove Park Inn. We decided to do something different by staying in a condo downtown. We were not disappointed! Bernie was great to deal with and very accommodating. The location is absolutely perfect! We parked the car in the garage and did use it until our stay was over. The condo was extremely clean and very well stocked, not to mention the "hip" decor. No detail was overlooked! We will definitely be back again! We highly recommend to anyone looking for a great place to stay and explore downtown Asheville.

Owner's Response: Daphne & sweet of you to compare our Biltmore Loft with the Grove Park Inn and The Inn on Biltmore! Yes, our location is superb and probably about 3 times the size of the comparison rooms, don't you think? We blended historic with contemporary on the top (2nd) floor in the middle of downtown. We look forward to your stay again soon and thanks for your recommendation. Bernie

Perfect location right downtown

We loved our stay in this beautiful loft with all the amenities. Location was perfect, right in the middle of everything so we didn't have to move the car other than driving to the Biltmore Estate. The apartment is beautiful, clean. Bernie was great in communicating with us. Highly recommend.

Owner's Response: Sidney...thank you for the 'high recommendation' and it was a pleasure hosting the four of you in our big and beautiful Biltmore Loft. Now if you'd only had a few more days to enjoy so much more of the offerings of downtown Asheville and the area, hey? We look forward to seeing you again!...Bernie

We had 4 guys stay a weekend at this loft for a bachelor party. Our goal was to have a centralized place so we could enjoy the city (aka all the breweries). This place delivered and more. There was more than enough space for all of us to sleep and move around comfortably, and bernie provided some nice personalized touches that really put it over the top. Parking was better and cheaper than expected, and the place couldn't have been in a better location. We will all probably come back again with our significant others!

Owner's Response: Tyler...yes, 1000 SF is a comfortable amount of space for 4 guys and happy you found our location so ideal! As you mentioned in our phone discussion, pizza at Barley's Pizza and Taproom across the street was delicious along with the 60 tap offerings and Wicked Weed Brewery, just down the street, was buzzing. We look forward to your significant others visiting with you next time.....Bernie
