Charming Beachfront Cottage, Air Conditioning

My family and I stayed in this beach house last year, and we are looking to go back soon. I was looking at the website for availability and began reading the reviews. I was more than surprised to see the one recent review with all the complaints. I am writing my review to give a much different view of this lovely cottage located on a beach in the tropics. We found the house to be very comfortable, it was clean, had nice bedding, and great air conditioning. The open bure on the beach was so nice and was a favorite place to hang out and lounge in the shade. The entire compound is lovely and groomed with coconut trees all around and hibiscus lining the property. The house has all the amenities that we needed, there were no bugs or pests, and we had the beach all to ourselves. We loved our vacation in Savusavu and would recommend this house to anyone interested in a low key, relaxing holiday cottage at a very reasonable rate!

Potentially, a beautiful site and cottage.
However, the standard of acccommodation did not live up to expectations for the price paid.Propety was not prepared to the standard expected when price paid is considered; incomplete and unacceptable level of cleaning, uncut lawn , no television channels, DVD not working, no iron or ironing board, incomplete kitchen utensil inventory ( some dirty and rusty), dirty oven and dishes, dangerously collapsed beachside bure decking, beachside shower blocked, overflowing and not working, leaking roof in front lounge area, blocked and overflowing guttering, tired and unloved furniture ( one held together with home-made string) blocked outside sink for washing machine, caretaker told us not to use more than ONE air conditioning unit because it would overload system and it would cut out !!! etc etc
On the plus side; very nice, comfortable main bedroom, excellent showers, grreat kayaking, view and ambiance from beachside bure is wonderful.
Friends who live in Fiji visited us all agree with the above.Therefore unable to recommend at the price paid. Property needs some TLC, better maintenance and updating if it is to be considered worthy of the rental price asked.
The property has great potential for all types of holidaymaker. We have had our own property in Fiji for the last 12 years and we visit every year. This simply fell short of expectations of couple who know Savusavu fairly well and all the wonderful things it has to offer.

My husband and I enjoyed our 2nd honeymoon here. It was very private, quiet and clean...so relaxing! Perfect for those who would rather have a peaceful vacation than a busy, resort experience. The locals were all very friendly and the island was very safe. It was easy to call for a taxi to take you into town for shopping and eating, or on an adventure, such as visiting a waterfall in a village. Our favorite part of our vacation was the snorkeling. You could just walk out on the reef right in front of the house at low-tide and dive on an amazing, endless reef or you could take the kayaks out at high-tide and venture to nearby reefs. The reefs were so full of life and virtually untouched by man. We were the only people diving the reefs during our whole visit and we rarely saw anyone on the beach, so it was very much like having a private beach (and ocean!). We would highly recommend this stay to anyone needing to experience some "island time"
