Last week me and my business partners had the distinct pleasure of staying 3 nights at this superb hotel for business. Our stay was absolutely perfect. From the kind, courteous, and professional staff, to the meticulous, comfortable rooms and common areas, the exercise facility, the business center, and our experience was nothing less than exceptional. Would definitely come back here again in our next business trip.
We were ready for a worry-free Mom's weekend getaway when we rented this unit from David. But as soon as we arrived at 11am, we were surprised to find the front door was broken. It took David until 9pm to get it fixed, meaning we lost an entire day of being poolside and missed out dinner reservation. Sadly that wasn't the end of it. We realized that the second bathroom had no shower curtain which meant that it was unusable. Absolutely fixable but it was not. In fact we were chided by David for requesting one. Sofa was stained and torn, no side table to use on the balcony, paltry kitchen utensils, and multiple requests for toilet paper. As a group we are quite tolerant and happy go lucky, but I will never rent again from this company. David's attitude towards these issues seemed as if he didn't quite care. No apologies for these inefficiencies. Renters Beware!
The rental started off a bit bumpy with some major hiccups along the way. We rented the 2 bedroom/2 bath on the 12th floor (4/10-4/14) from David and it needs some major TLC. The pictures need to be updated as well.
Here are the negatives
The second bedroom door was off the hinge and one of the closet doorknobs was missing along with the and toilet paper holder was broken. The carpet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years and most of the furniture looked used and very much abused. A few chairs were broken and the second shower head in the master bathroom was out of commission. Upon check in each bathroom had one roll of toilet paper, which wasn’t going to cut it with 6 people staying in the apartment. On Friday, we were locked in our room due to the battery not working on the door. Supposedly, it wasn’t working the day before and the rental company had been notified along with all the other issues. We were told that the items in the room had been broken/missing for months, which we were said to hear. I have rented through vrbo numerous times and have never experienced the things I experienced on this trip. It was very difficult to get a hold of David when we were locked in the room. We just felt that if he didn’t know how to deal with the situation he could have simply picked up his phone and said, I’m not really sure how to handle this situation, but I’m working to resolve it. Had he responded in that matter we wouldn’t have felt so neglected. It was if he went dark for a couple of hours. We are not needy nor are we annoying renters, but we feel when you pay to stay somewhere and are promised certain things you should get them, and in this instance it was very disappointing to pay for some things that really should have been fixed months ago.
Here are the positives
The pillows and beds in both bedrooms are very comfortable. The new addition black couch was a nice touch as the one featured was in really bad shape and should really be thrown out. David is very nice and did drive 45 minutes to see us when we were experiencing issues that Friday after we basically stalked him. The hotel is amazing, clean and the service is impeccable. The location is perfect and easy to walk to everything in SOBE.
The entire stay was very enjoyable, we woke up to an amazing view every morning. All staff was very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely come and stay at the condo at The Mondrian hotel again. Also, it was super close to the beach, shops, restaurants, etc.
The owners agent was extremely helpful, and the hotel staff is very nice. I would stay again, and recommend to others. The apartment is simple and clean, but much bigger than a hotel room, and the view is fantastic.
The Modrian is the best place to stay in South Beach, hands down. The hotel is beautiful, the service is amazing and the drinks are delicious.
We rented this unit from David for four nights and he was awesome. He gave us an early check-in and a late check-out at no fee, which was a huge help to us. The unit is just like it looks in the pictures - simply beautiful!! The place is perfect for two couples or a group of friends who want to have some fun in South Beach!
Jill, the Pool Experience Manager, set us up with a free cabana each day that we were there, which really made our party that much more fun. I highly recommend getting a cabana if you have a group of people.
I will definitely be back, and would absolutely rent from David again. It's a much better deal than renting from the hotel, and you get the same amazing room and service!
The Mondrian in located in South beach, where Miami is all about :) It's the perfect location, it's 5minutes to the beach, lots of great restaurants around the corner such as :Barton G and Gourmet Carrot. You can rent boats/jet skis and get in right from the hotel bay! They even have a superficial beach with sand! This is an amazing hotel that will make all your stay unforgettable!
