The architect-designed houses of Quinta Mar y Estrellas are located on Playa Hermosa in Huehuete, part of a 20-kilometre-stretch of shoreline, between the charming fishing village of Casares to the north and the Chacocente Nature Reserve to the south. The houses provide all the comfort of high-end accommodations in a natural setting, using sustainable energy sources such as solar panel electrical systems and solar hot water heating. A constant breeze and celilng fans help to keep the rooms cool without air conditioning. As local visitors have said, it's a luxury beach house designed 'con sabor Nica!'. All of the furniture in Quinta Mar y Estrellas is made by local artisans.
MAIN HOUSE: The airy Kitchen is fully functional and opens onto the Living room with panoramic ocean views. It boasts a full-sized refrigerator-freezer and gas range, as well as a clothes washer. Enjoy a breakfast of tropical fruit or a meal of freshly-caught fish in the stunning Dining area, a large screened-in patio made entirely of exotic hardwoods with a beautiful cathedral ceiling handmade of sugar cane. The large refectory dining table seats 12 people and is handmade from antique recycled woods. Learn about the tumultuous history of Nicaragua by choosing a book from the small library in the Living room, then head through the Dining area onto a raised terrace leading to a large shady Rancho, where hammocks and beach chairs are readily available for reading, napping, sea turtle-watching and other such strenuous activities!
The private Master suite on the third floor allows for sweeping views down the Pacific coast towards Costa Rica. Its small private access bridge lets you take a last look at the fantastic spectacle of stars before you retire for the night... no light pollution here! The unique King-sized bed/desk was custom-made for the room, again of tropical hardwoods. Individual bedside spotlights let you read your favourite novel to the rhythmic sound of the surf. The master bathroom includes a full tiled shower with abundant hot water and water pressure. The Guest suite in the main house has a beachfront view and is equipped with a Queen bed and a Twin sofa-bed, a closet and a private Balinese-style shower suite open to the stars!
GUEST HOUSE: Two identical guest Bedrooms share a large separate main Living room with full kitchen and Dining area, opening onto an outdoor terrace with a private dipping Pool sparkling under a shady rancho. The upper terrace of the Guest house is the ideal spot for magnificent sunset viewing during the cocktail hour! The Bedrooms are each equipped with a Queen-sized bed and a Twin bed, a closet and a full Balinese-style shower suite with a beautiful handmade cement tile floor, polished cement countertops and white walls highlighted with tropical wood trim. They include toilet, sink and a plant-filled shower area without a roof, so that the sunshine or stars are part of the shower experience!
