Cockle Cove Beach is one of Chatham’s longest and most popular family beaches. The town provides life guards, port a potties & free access, but charges for daily or weekly car parking. It is safe, sandy and provides warm water swimming, windsurfing, fishing, clamming & beach combing for families and children of all ages.
The Cockle Cove Beach/ South Chatham neighborhood is very safe, picturesque, adjacent to the Cape bike path and characterized by well-maintained cottages and homes with privately-landscaped lots on quiet seaside streets. Chatham’s nationally-recognized amenities, Harwichport and East Harwich shops & restaurants are an easy 5-10 minute drive on Rt. 28 or Rt. 137. Hyannis, the charming “Olde King’s Highway Rt. 6A” antique & gift shops, Cape Cod Bay harbors & beaches and the Cape Cod National Sea Shore beaches, nature walks, etc. are easily accessed within 15 to 20 minutes via Rts. 28, 137 and 6.
