My husband and I along with our 4 adult sons enjoyed the perfect Christmas/New Year holiday, 11 nights, at Aris' Griffin House. Situated just down the hill from The Acropolis, the house was everything we had hoped: the main room spacious enough for us to relax, the bedrooms most comfortable, the kitchen allowed us to make breakfast at our leisure before a day of touring, the 2 1/2 baths beautifully appointed, and the washer/dryer combo made our stay even easier.
The location is superb for walking throughout the center of Athens and the metro is just a few blocks away. We took the metro from the airport, approximately a 45 minute ride; Aris then met us for the short walk to the house. After showing the house, Aris took us around the blocks nearby to point out the fresh fruit vendors, bakery, supermarket and ATM. There are many nice restaurants and coffee shops in the area as well. A few days later we met Aris at 10am for a walking tour around the greater Acropolis. A walking historian, Aris was able to keep us quite entertained and informed with stories from the past about the historical sites and buildings we were viewing. We stopped for a traditional meal of souvlaki and tzatziki near the Plaka, continued touring through the gardens near the Acropolis and finished our outing around 5pm.
Thanks again, Aris, for making our holiday stay the best!
