Homer is paradise. Come experience it for yourselves!
Privacy, comfort, convenience and fun.
Thank you for sharing your home with us. Your bed was very comfortable and I loved your bedding. I appreciated getting to use your washer and dryer. We all had a great time fishing and well be receiving a 45 pound halibut once we arrive home. The weather cooperated with a nice stay here too.
A hidden gem among the Homer hideaways! Close to the beach, incredible sundeck on which to enjoy Alaska’s long summer days and nights (cocktail in hand). Inside, loft bedroom where the surf lolls you to sleep at night and gently awakens you in the AM.
The spacious living room downstairs with a full wall mirror allowed me to dance and choreograph new pieces while looking out at the beautiful view across Kachemak Bay.
The wood stove in the downstairs living space adds an unparalleled warmth and ambiance, and I really enjoyed having the freedom to cook my own meals in a well-appointed kitchen with such a fabulous view.
Truly a relaxing get away!
Wonderful little place to stay and see Homer, go fishing, see wildlife and generally chill away from the hustle and bustle of normal life.
I stay here every time I need a dose of tranquility. The cottage is set in a spruce forest, overlooking a slice of ocean views across the way. The abode is on the second story, is private and cozy. Inside there is no pretensions, nice decor, comfortable bed with a scandanavian flair. The ships ladder up to the bedroom was easy to navigate. It is well equipped for cooking, bathing and lounging next to the woodstove. Best of all is the in town location, near the road to the Homer Spit, and just minutes to restaurants and art galleries. Bring a bike and an adventurous spirit!!
we had 2 couples staying here- perfect after a chilly kayak trip. the place really is lovely and charming- the second floor of a house with perfect tall ceilings, a convenient kitchen, and a sweet little bathroom.
we thought several small, easy improvements would give it a glowing 5 stars:
1) make sure the directions are clear for you. the directions to get here via text message from owner still took almost half an hour of confusion within a quarter mile neighborhood. we all reread her direction text message for clarity, weren't able to contact the owner via calling, and all smartphone maps were different than the actual house- so we spend just wandered for quite some time until we found it. there are 2 right turns to the dr. loop, turns out the house is on the SECOND loop- unfortunately, we took the first right and drove all the way down and hung out in someone else's driveway for a while.
2) the owner could also provide information on how to pay via a simple note. we just left a check which was easy and preferable but how it happened was a bit distracting b/c it involved 4 guests after arriving discussing how we should pay and eventually writing several text messages to to figure out how much to pay including tax.
3) also in a simple note upon arrival, directions on how to get easy access to the beach w/out trespassing would be nice. we went on a walk and chose this place bc of the comment on the nearby beach but we never found access.
Those v. small things aside, we would certainly love to spend time here again. It'd be good for a family or friends you are close with (there aren't any doors separating the loft but we loved this open air feeling). We enjoyed the view of the ocean from the big front room window. We cooked a beautiful meal in the kitchen and lacked no basic cookware, etc. The loft was nice and the futon comfortable. The loft may be a bit unsafe for small children or people with disabilities b/c need to climb a ladder.
The cozy color and the wood stove won us over immediately and it felt like home- and we were only there for a night! What a luxury a few days here would be.
My wife and I just had to take a moment to write about the wonderful experience we had at this quaint cottage. We met in Alaska five years ago and wanted to return to celebrate our anniversary in the Homer area. It was September but warm enough to sit out on the deck in the morning with coffee. The owner was always available during our weeks stay to answer questions and make sure e were comfortable. The acccomadfations were a great mix of both antiques with a unique Alaskan style. We did a lot of walking up to local galleries and restaurants. It also happened to be the locals wooden boat festival and that was a real treat. We highly recommend this vacation rental and hope to stay there again in the future.
My girlfriend and I decided to splurge for a week and go to Alaska because we'd never been. We heard about Cranberry Point from a friend and thought we'd give it a try because we didn't have time to research places. Wow, this place was perfect. Tons of beautiful sun pouring through all the big windows which overlook Kachemak Bay. We walked to the beach EVERY MORNING. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived and lovely touches throughout the place. The washer and dryer was a godsend and with comfy sleeping accommodations up in the roomy loft (with it's own sink and toilet!) and a very comfy futon below. We even walked to town a couple of times for dinner because it was so close. I could go on. I really recommend this place. It's special.
