About Sally Howard

I purchased 304 when the owner told me he was going to sell. I'd been visiting Santa Fe for about 3 years and always stayed in 304. It took me seconds to make the decision.

I typically drive to Santa Fe once a year around April/May and spend a month and then either in Sept/Oct or Christmas I'll fly down for a shorter visit. I cannot imagine just visiting once - there is so much to see and do. One of my best times was when I walked from Alameda and St. Francis through neighborhoods and the city taking pictures of Santa Fe 'art'...doors, gates, fences, mailboxes. It's amazing how art permeates Santa Fe. Don't miss the overpasses and retaining walls on Highway 84/285 going North.

I live in Boise, Id, most of the time, and moved in 1970 from St. Louis. It became home the minute I arrived. When I'm asked 'where did you grow up' and standard reply is 'I grew up in Boise and moved there when I was 30'. It's so true! Santa Fe and Boise are oddly similar in weather and convenience. Boise also has a ski area 16 miles away and great outdoor activities. I recommend visiting Boise too.

Sally Howard purchased this condo in 1993

Why Sally Howard chose Santa Fe

It's home, it's comfortable and it's convenient! DeVargas Mall is just across the highway and has everything you need - grocery store, Hastings, great Pizza shop, movie theater, dress shops, drug store, excellent restaurants, etc. Taos, Opera and Tesuque are just north.

I've made it 304 home and hope you'll feel the same. If there is something more that you think it needs just let me know.

What makes this condo unique

My favorite thing about 304 is the balcony and the view. I have seen more rainbows from the balcony in Santa Fe then all of the rest of my life combined. The cloud formations that pass over are truly amazing.

We were most pleased with our accommodation. The amenities helped make it a comfortable trip. The outside sitting area was especially pleasant. The location was perfect for us. We will come here again if we go to Santa Fe.

The pictures don't lie: This condo is very, very nice. Certainly cozy and comfortable. It "oozes" Santa Fe with all of the local furnishings and artwork hanging/placed everywhere. Very clean; not new, but you won't even care or barely notice. Lots of instructions/helpful hints taped around the place. Over-the-top furnished (Ever heard the expression "soup to nuts"? Well, from the kitchen to the bathroom, Sally has everything you could possible need). It is IDEALLY located just off two main Santa Fe roads (Guadaloupe and St. Francis). You can easily walk to several really cool places to eat, and if you are up for a little exercise, you can walk and literally be in the center of the Downtown Plaza in less than 30 minutes (2.0 mi; 6-8 minutes by car). 5 minutes to Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. The view of the hills (and even some of the downtown buildings) from the 3rd floor deck is super. Elevators and/or stairs are located close to the entrance for easy up & down. Easy outdoor parking. The electronic security lock works flawlessly. The placement of the bedrooms ensures no outside noise issues at night. Except for one of the bathroom exhaust fans not working, all bathroom facilities (toilets, shower, etc) work fine, although the lighting is not great in either. The queen bed, pillows, etc were very comfortable (and we are very picky in this area). Can't speak to the 2-twin beds since we didn't use them. Everything in the kitchen works fine. The water quality was so good, we never needed to buy any bottled water. Only 2 downsides from our perspective: 1) The relative lack of a TV (one very small TV in living room with an aspect ratio problem that I could not fix via the remote's menu, and nothing in bedroom, which we personally enjoy in the morning while drinking our morning coffee, getting dressed, etc); and 2) If you run the A/C at night (which we had to since it was 90+ during the day), be sure and have your earplugs because when it kicks on, it sounds like the wind from a jet engine and will wake you up (a ceiling fan or a floor/desk fan in the master could have alleviated that). Overall, from a price-to-quality factor, I could not imagine there would be a better deal anywhere in Santa Fe. I would/will definitely choose to stay here again since my wife and I want to come back every year for her birthday going forward. You will not be disappointed if you stay in this condo. Well worth it.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the wonderful endorsement of my Santa Fe home. If you do return next year there is a real possibility you will enjoy all new bathrooms. One correction; The Plaza is only 1.3 miles if you walk/drive Guadalupe to San Francisco. I'm always looking to improve my guests experience and appreciate your feedback.

Owner's Response: As I've said many times one of my favorite things about my Santa Fe homes is its location. The convenience of having a shopping center nearby and movie theater plus several good restaurants makes everything so much easier. Come back to Santa Fe soon.

Good vacation site

  • 4 of 5
For three friends meeting in Santa Fe on vacation this was a good site. We enjoyed our stay. The property is just as described. We found everything clean and in excellent condition. The condo was nicely furnished (as pictured) and equipped with absolutely everything we needed - just like being at home. The view is beautiful as promised. There was no traffic noise inside but as expected the balcony was noisy when traffic was heavy. The condo complex was very quiet during our stay. Both the owner and her local contact were so helpful and responsive to us that we did not need them for anything. While the elevator makes the unit accessible, those with mobility issues should be aware that there are no grab bars in the tub/shower and the toilet seats are very low and have no grab bars.

Owner's Response: I'm happy to hear that you found everything as promised. It is my (Santa Fe) home and I want it to feel that way to visitors too. You are totally correct about the bathrooms. I hope to remodel them by next summer (2015) and, of course, add grab bars and new toilets.

This condo was clean, well appointed, quiet, and all beds were extremely comfortable. Unit was close to old town and within walking distance to grocery store. Lovely remodeled kitchen. We'd stay here again in a heart beat.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind remarks. I think one of my favorite things about the condo is its location. It's a pleasant walk to The Plaza with many nice shops on the way. I hope you'll comeback and enjoy more of Santa Fe. I've been going there for over 20 years and still find new places to visit.

This was our second stay at this property. It's a great place to stay - always clean & well kept. Within walking distance to town if you don't mind a little walk & great restaurants in the strip mall across the highway to walk to also.
